insane pot with 99

Recommended Posts

Absolute, haven't played many hands, only shown down a few winners...RISE has 9 :club: 9 :D in MP3PF: UTG limper, MP raises, RISE 3-bets, CO calls, Button calls, SB calls, BB calls, UTG calls, MP caps, RISE calls, everyone callsFlop: 3 4 6 rainbow (28 SB)SB checks, BB checks, UTG bets, MP calls, RISE raises, CO calls, Button calls, SB calls, BB calls, UTG 3-bets, MP calls, RISE caps, all callTurn: J (28 BB)checked to UTG who bets, MP calls, I raise, CO calls, button folds, blinds fold, UTG calls, MP callsRiver: 8 (36 BB)checked to me, I bet, CO and UTG call.Final Pot: 39 BBOk so my 3-bet to isolate PF didn't exactly work. Good flop for my hand, and I tried to isolate the early bettor as there are a large number of hands he has that I can beat. I know I should've waited til the turn to try and protect my hand, but the pot was so big I wanted to try and protect it any chance I could. Only player I was scared of was MP and he didn't seem to have a big pair. Can anyone see a place to slow down or even fold?

You can't protect this handObviously the three-bet preflop isn't any good. Paying 4 bets to see a flop with 99, an easlily dominated hand is painfulWithout seeming rude, did you not see all the other people in this hand? I don't see the logic in capping this flop. I'm probably just calling the flop and raising a blank turn. A jack may or may not be a blank, but possibly. I still think you're way behind on this flop. I think you can fold on the turn because what can you beat in a multiway capped pot. AK is about it

I think that you shouldn't look at 99 as so strong. In a limit game with so many players seeing the flop, you're really looking for a set. Even with a rag flop you can't push very hard, so sit back and limp and wait for a set.

I'm 3-betting this PF to isolate the raiser. My hand either plays well multi-way or heads up. Since he raised it won't be (or usually won't be, this table was not this loose most of the time) be more than 3 or 4 players to a flop. If I 3-bet and isolate the raiser, I get heads up with a hand I'm a slight favorite over, especially if he won't see the turn or the river when he misses.
