CobaltBlue 662
You may miss out on a value bet if he's got a pair of jacks with a weaker kicker or something worse...but I think a check's fine.Oh, and you really need to get better about listing the suits, Matt.

I'm thinking he has a king here but doesn't know how to play it properly and is scared that you have a bigger king
screech 0
check behind. He's calling with a king more than he will with a weaker jack.

Steppin Razor 0
Guess I'm the minority, but I bet. You played like you had K+good kicker, and you might get him off his hand. If he's tight passive, I don't think he'd be playing K/cr*p kicker. I could see him having something like QJ or AJ like you have. Maybe K/10 suited. In any case, I'm going to lean on him until he pushes back. Let him worry about what I have.
looshle 6
Most of the times its a Jack with a weaker kicker, I'd bet it.
CoolHandLaw 0
I'm probably beating a dead horse here, but I can't see why some of you think it's a Jack w/ weak kicker. The player is tight/passive. A tight player is not playing a Jx to a raise in 1st position. I dont think he's even willing to play QJ in 1st position to a raise. The only hands I can see him playing are AJ (in which case, if you bet you're giving up money to the rake only), K10 (he'll call your river bet if he's already gone this far), or maybe even AK if he's really passive. I wouldn't put him on a drawing hand either. He's obviously hit something, but if you bet the river and he raises, what would you do then?
timwakefield 68
CHECK!!!! If you're not fairly certain that you have the best hand on the river you have to check, since it's unlikely that he'll fold to a single bet. It's also worth giving up a potential value bet to see his cards (on the off-chance he'd fold the river). More importantly though, yeah he probably has a king or maybe you got him on an outkicked jack, but it seems likely that he also could have q10, in which case he checked his straight on the river because he KNOWS that you'll bet. He'll then raise, knowing you have to call. If you're already afraid that you're beat on a pair AND there's a potential straight showing, check check check. Let your opponent know that he can't slowplay you on the river...it's definitely frustrating to check the nuts expecting to raise, and just get checked. Don't fall into a trap....he has a myriad of hands to beat you with CHECK!!!!!!!!!!!!

I couldn't imagine he's call down with a gutshot, but maybe that's it.Or KQ. That would make more sense.

Steppin Razor 0
Well, we already have the resolution, but there's no way I'd check. I wouldn't have put a tight passive player on A1o, but no way I'd put him on Q10 - a tight player wouldn't be playing a raised pot with Q10.I also would never expect a tight passive player to check/call, then hit his hand on the river and check raise. No, if he hit his hand on the river, he's betting. If the river was a Q and he made his straight, you think this guy check raises? On the very slim chance he did check raise, you know you're beat. Fold, you don't need to see his cards, you know what he has.
Rocketwadster 0
Looks like a check to me. He either had something to be calling you, or was drawing at something to be calling you. The river did not improve your hand, but may have improved his (so he may be doing a check/raise).

Also, why is there no way you'd check? q10 isn't really what you're afraid of there, it's just a small chance. Kx is the problem.

I'm going to bet into him until he gives me a reason not to. If he has a K, I lose a few chips. But when I get a K, and he has a J, I'm not going to play my TP so passively, and I'll take him for more chips than I lost last time.
