Gus Hansen is now down to his last 4k or so. He opens for 1,125 in early position and again the BB moves all-in. This time, it's only about another 3,500 and Gus is pot stuck with Ah Qh. His opponent shows kings, and the river king was more than enough to give him the pot.

Most impressive story so far?Layne Flack having more than 40k in chips w/ a 106 degree temperature?? (www.pokerwire.com)  That's just insane
uhhh, wouldn't that send someone to the hospital

That can't be right.....that is a trip to a hospital....they need to do some fact checking....and if Layne Flack is pounding beers as usual...then he will drop dead right there at the table....although I think he quit drinking.....

same thing I thought. That would send him to the hospital. If the story is true and he makes it through the day....that'd be up there w/ the most impressive feats in WSOP history.

Layne definetly quit drinking. Daniel paid for his rehab, also at teh Aruba WPT he wasn't holding a beer, which is good for him

this is where I saw it (www.pokerwire.com) and i've always found them to be rather good on facts:2005 WSOP[Event 42] $10,000No LimitHold'emWorldChampionshipJul 08, 200500:34:55 EDT That's not good...Layne Flack is playing despite a 106F fever. He wasn't allowed to change days (there are 3 "Day One"s due to the large number of entries) despite his obviously poor physical condition. He's doing surprisingly well however, with about 25k in chips.Apparently, Isabelle Mercier was also severely under the weather, perhaps contributing to her early exit. Last chip count I saw had him around 42k, maybe they are overstating it but if he had a 100 temp that'd be impressive w/ all the noise, and mental anguish of No Limit

I'm guessing it happened something like this..LF: "Man, I haven't been feeling well at all today.." Seat 2: "Yeah? What's wrong?" LF: "Running a temp, stomach's messed up, you know.." Seat 2: "How's high is your temp?" LF: "I dunno, I think 100.6 or something.." Card Player reporter standing by overhears Flack running a temp of 106 and dashes off to file a report.

Date / Time: 2005-07-07 22:42:00 Title: David "Goner Fish" Ulliott Log: David "Devil Fish" Ulliott pushes all in for his last $2,000 in chips, and is called by John Gibson. Ulliott shows K-10, and John Gibson flips up pocket sevens. It's a race, but when the flop comes A-7-4 it's all but over for Ulliott. The turn brings a glimmer of hope for Ulliott when a jack hits, giving him a gutshot straight draw. The river brings an 8, not the card Ulliott needs, and he is sent home on Day 1. www.cardplayer.com>> (working fine for me)

Marco was going pretty strong today and I left for about 30 minutes and came back and his chipstack is dwindling, I guesstimate it's about 15k right now and a guy who has got to be top 5 in chips (carried over two full racks) just sat down on his left... I know Marco wants to double through this donkey atleast 4 times :club: He was on the phone earlier and I think I missed a pretty rough hand for him, I'm not gonna ask but I'll be continuing to watch him as much as I can.Shannon Elizabeth is very low in chips now but she is ever so kind about it, a player caught his flush on the river against her to double up off her stack and she told him congratulations with sincerity. She hasn't made any mistakes that Larry or Myself have seen.

I've seen her showdown about 6 hands and they all were pretty standard moves. Nothing donkeyesque. The other thing is there are a number of good players at her table. Jan Sjavik for instance who has 7 WSOP cashes.

I've been 106 before and yes, I had to visit the emergency room. It didn't really help much though. Some people just get insanely high fevers in comparision to others. I've played in a tennis tourney when I had a 104 fever before. I did fine. I imagine Layne is just one of those guys who gets ridiculously high fevers. Or could it be that someone on the internet exaggerated? Nah, couldn't be that.
