Wesley Willis is the absolute shit when it comes to any type of music. If youve never heard him youre missing out. My personal favorites are "Suck a Cheetahs Dick" and "I whooped Batmans Ass". Check em out

Ha, very good list. I'd throw the Roots in there too, and I'm with you on the 'new school' stuff; early to mid 90s was the 'golden age' I think, at least for hip hop. Patrick

Here's a clip of Tony Parker rapping in French at the Spurs' championship ceremony. It's pretty decent, actually (if only in that "average guy who decides to rap for no real reason" kinda way). My French is okay, but not quite good enough to follow along to the lyrics. Anybody who speaks French know what he's saying?http://www.woai.com/mediacenter/?videoId=127539,565

i was just reading through this thread and i was shocked it took forever to name PAC...good job ALF...clearly the best of all time mostly because he could rap about anything and if you really listen to his music you can really understand what he was going through when he wrote it. Unlike the rap that is out today which has good beats but thats where it ends the rest of it is the same words over and over again...oh well thats what were stuck with

I'd say 2pac (or 1pac after the incident in front of the courthouse..lol), is probably the best performer in the genre's history, but I would't say he is the best 'rapper'. I guess it all depends on how you define it. I'd consider Biggie a better lyricalist (and a few others), so in my mind, he was a better 'rapper', but 2pac's emotion/energy was second to none. Patrick

You guys gotta listen to some more rap before you start talking about who is the best. The best of all time is Tupac. No question, he's the greatest. If you want the best right now though, you gotta go north of the border into Canada. Kardinal Offishall is the best rapper out there, even if the American stations don't wanna play Canadian rappers.

There's a reason for the above mentioned discrimination. "Up next, we've got..Informer, by Snow.."And anybody like Atmosphere out of Minneapolis?

I think the actual reason for the above discrimination is the fact that, though there are good Canadian rappers, there aren't any good Canadian producers. So they produce some pretty solid rhymes, but the tracks aren't nearly tight enough to make an impact.

I think Kardinal Offishall will make an impact in the states soon though. He went on tour with G-Unit last year and got signed to an American label. When his next CD is finally released we'll finally have a good mainstream rapper to represent Canada.
