PestoSauce 0
I just busted out (well got crippled) of a MTT calling an all in PreFlop with KK. The guy had AA. I lost the hand, but it got me thinking. These tournaments involve more luck we might think. I believe the winner of the tournament will have to catch "better than average" hands and "better than average" flops to win. It's not like skill vs. skill in a poker tournament. It's more like luck vs. luck. Bad beats negate the skill involved in these tournaments and it's so unfortunate. I don't know, what dya'll think? 93transam 0
thats been discussed many times on here..but i would say that yes its true..
Spademan 94
It still has quite a bit of skill involved, especially in not HUGE MTT's. If not, Hanson wouldn't win 3 WPT's and so on, which are MTT's. The more players, the luckier you'll have to get, but the better player you are, the less luck you'll need. Also, (though this is live, so reads can play a much bigger role), I've seen people lay down K's in MTT's.So having K's or Q's doesn't necessarily mean you can't lay down vs AA, althought it is very, very hard. angler 0
So you are complaining about getting beat by an overpair is that correct?
closetwin 0
Sometimes you've just gotta pay 'em off. If they've got you beat bad from the start, that's pretty much it.In a tournament, that can mean you're busted. Tournaments are short-term endeavors, while poker skill and success are measured in the long term. It's very, very true that you have to be luckier to win a tournament. That's not to say you won't be so lucky. You may not even have to be very lucky. However, there's still the busting thing.I prefer ring games. I mean, at low limits, there's tons of action, and suckouts just mean you'll get paid off in the long run. Some games are ridiculously easy to beat, too, and that's fun. I came home soused tonight and played some micros, and easily tripled my min buy-in (I was ripped, didn't wanna risk a lot - just having fun). Sure, I came dangerously close to busting a few times, but if I had I just could have bought in again, and sure enough my decisions would invariably show greater profit versus my opponents's many mistakes.CT
