augmented 0
ok i am in a 10 man sitngo over on bugsysclub, i think 7 people left. top 3 pay. blinds are 75/150, and i have like 1900 from my original 1500. i am in the big blind with J9.i think 3 people limp, including the small blind, who has like 4k in chips, chip leader. i check my crap, flop comes 922. he now immediately bets pot, 450. i have no read on him whatsoever, and don't really know whats going on. but think about it. it seems like every play is bad. if i call, i will have no idea where i'm at on the turn. if i raise, i might lose all my chips, cause it costs me a good portion, cause if he has a 2 or i'm outkicked i'm dead. if i fold, i feel like my hand beats too many hands for that to be smart. i ended up just folding, but i was curious as to what you should do in these situations where every play seems wrong. Amadeus 0
I don't have a great answer for you other then I can't help but get super aggressive in these situations and either double up or get knocked out. The last thing I put this guy on is having a deuce. Most of the online donks will almost always try to slow play you in this situation if they have a deuce. If someone calls his bet I might be worried about them having a deuce but most likely the original bettor has a 9 or a mid range PP and is trying to take the pot down on the flop. If nobody else calls the bet and I'm last to act I might have to re-raise. However, your fold is not a bad option in this situation. I'm sure you can find much better spots to get your money in. Weaver 0
blind hand in an unraised pot... the fold isnt a bad choice...
Garn 0
I agree. This looks like a steal to me. It is hard to put him on a deuce b/c you would think that he would be slow playing. Maybe he has something like a small pair. However a call takes a considerable amount of chips. With no read on the guy I would say either fold to save your money for a better spot of be super agressive and put it all in.

I find myself easily doing either one of these depending on my feel at the time. I don't think there is a right answer here.

Jelly-Filled Ace 2
A2 is so limpable as well as K2 and Q2 sooted. I think using defense was a smart play for all reasons given, too close to cash to be a hero being the best reason.

trumptight111 0
I emailed J. Arieh this exact question. He told me not to worry about these hands and fold. You will have the button on the next hand and it's much better to play these hands in position. Give him credit for making the bet and bust him when you know you have him beat. Hope this helps. pokepoke1967 0
I'm not going to say anything that most haven't noticed already. It is common for sng chip leaders to fire out from their BB or SB hands in an unraised pot after any flop that can look scary in some way. The good ones fire out at this flop when they don't have the 2 (or whatever card is paired on the board) and then later on when they do have it they fire out the same way. The pot is not huge, and no hand means very much anyway, if you aren't short-stacked, untill you get down to the final 4.
hoosierAKs 0
fold... you'll have the button in a couple hands and can make a play from late position MUCH more easily than you can in this situation... there's a decent chance you're ahead here, but there's a MUCH better chance you're way behind... for him to make a pot-sized bet with 3 people left to act doesn't exactly scream weakness. People have neglected to point out that there's two other people in the hand waiting to act after you... who says THEY didn't hit? they could have limped with a few hands that would have hit this flop better than you did.I don't see the point of staying in this hand...I avoid these situations except with an EXTREMELY short stack... cleveindians 0
Am I the only person that wouldn't even consider calling this bet.Three people left to act after you it really doesn't matter what the guy has.. You've got to fold top pair..
augmented 0
actually there were just 3 people in the hand. the small blind (bettor), the bb (me) and random other guy. he folded. also, lets say that i was positive he had a nine. that was my read, although i wasn't 100 percent sure it seemed like that from how he bet. what do you do if you know he has a 9 but don't know his kicker?
hoosierAKs 0
That's somewhat of an odd hypothetical... so in other words, what are the odds he has:A9K9Q9as opposed to:T9989796 95 94 93Fairly certain he wouldn't bother completing with 93-95, probably 96 either... though chip leaders in low-stakes SnGs are known to do some loose things... with the chip lead, he'd probably raise A9... I'd say if you KNOW he has a 9, I'd put the kicker between 7 and K... meaning it's really tough to say whether he has you beat or not...the point is there's still others to act and you have a weak top pair with a decent kicker, facing that bet in that situation... i fold it every time. Dubey 1,035
I would likely fold. I doubt he had a 2, but I could easily see him having Q9, K9, or A9, He could also very well have 89 or T9, or 22-88, however, you have very little money in the pot, and quite clearly you can't call here, so it is either push or fold, and it isn't worth it at all at that point, in my opinion. chindi 0
The problem is that there are various limping hands that can beat you, and this bet is coming from the one stack at the table that can afford/would want to mix up his play a bit. And you have a player behind you as well.So maybe as the big stack he limped in with 92, or decided not to raise with A9, etc.I don't think any of those are likely, mind you.. I think you're probably in the lead at the moment .. but I think you're in a fairly precarious position. As you said, if you call, you're putting in 1/4th of your trips and are no closer to knowing where this guy is betting from... if you raise you're going to invest at least half your chips... and if he comes over the top on you then you're back in the tank.If the chip leader's been aggressive, and has been stealing a lot of pots and if you're confident enough that your 9's are best that you're not going to hate yourself if you're wrong, then go all-in. Because there's not a lot to gain from just calling and your stack isn't deep enough for a small raise not to put you on the hook anyway. Plus he's only going to be getting 2-1 on his money, so if he puts you on the 9 and all he has are overcards there's no odds that make that a good call. Plus, if he does have something like A9, there's a (small) chance that he's not willing to call off his chip lead into the obvious trips.Me, I probably fold this hand. Because I don't really want to go all-in with J9 here with someone behind me to act, and I think there's plenty of play to be made from stronger positions later when my edge isn't so micro-thin.
