why haven't you read SSHE yet?

Recommended Posts

For the last couple of weeks I've been in a huge downswing at the 5/10 table (over 200 BB)
200bb in a couple of weeks? Loose it in 2 nights and then try to play... I'm still crying from that...
no, you're still crying from when you walked in on me and your sister having relations
Zing.

Yeah, but I only play an hour or two each night (since I have a real job), so this is a huge swing for me.The improvement in my post-flop play has been remarkable already. I'm taking down pots that I wouldn't have even bet before. I'm getting full value out of my good hands too. I'm up almost $700 playing 2/4 and 3/6 since Saturday morning when I got the book. Soon I'll be able to move back to 5/10 and then I can see if I've really improved or not.

I did read it, and now I can lose with a much better class of hands.
I hope so. The more people who want to play better poker, read SSHE, and still play like donkeys, the less I have to worry about the playing level of Party Fish becoming decent. Not only will the fish who don't care to read a book to get better be giving me money, but the donkeys who read a book and still don't know what's going on will be giving me money, yet think they are a better player. Excellent.

the only reason anyone should read ss1-2 A) because just about every other player has read itB) for a full understanding of all gmes poker related.I just dont understand why more people are not reading more books on the GAME, they dont mind putting 100-1000$ in action but they upset at the thought of spending 25-50$ on a book !!some times i just dont understand man kind

OK smash, I'm ignorant for not buying and reading a book I have no use for. Sure are. You'll get to it someday and then hit yourself in the head.
Are you that frickin lazy that you won't explain to someone why they're wrong? If you're going to bring it up in the first place, you probably should offer an explanation. Otherwise, you're just noise.

i think what he was getting at was the guy was being narrow minded and there was no sence in trying to get thru his thick thick head what he is missing out on !!!just my 2 cents

You guys are completely useless. Two people have asked how SSHE compares to WLLHE and if there is anything of note that SSHE covers that is not covered in WLLHE. But noo you all sidetracked the god damn thread with a bunch of reitterations of the same crap "dude it will help your NL game too" "seriously dude it helps for NL" "dude its good for NL" instead of answering the one pertinent question asked in the thread.

Has it got anything in it not in Winning Low Limit Holdem by lee Jones??
that book advocates a more weak/tight style that will make newer players 'not lose'....SSHE teaches a very agressive style that takes really exploits all the mistakes the majority of low limit players make. No other book has come close to helping my game as much as SSHE

Here are my impressions for what they're worth: Sklansky and the boys take a much more aggressive approach to protecting your hand, raising to buy outs and improve your winning chances, and putting value on backdoor draws. They're MUCH more expansive on post-flop strategies than Jones. They also put much greater stress on avoiding big unsuited one-gaps and hands like that. Those are the most obvious things for me.

Sounds like you guys really got a lot out of this book. I'm curious, did you guys also read Hold Em for Advanced Players by Sklansky, or Middle Limit Hold Em by Ciaffione (sp)? I read both of those books a long time ago, and thought they were "ok".Not sure if I see myself reading any new poker books, and I'm wondering if the concepts would still apply at the higher levels. I think I'll pick the book up just to see what you guys are talking about.

I have read wonderful posts on here about SSHE and how it has truly helped them be profitable at their game. I use to despise LHL just for the sake that I thought it didnt seem that you can win much at that type of game... I use to be all about NL but now that I see testimonials about this book I have purchased it tonight and I hope that it will really pay off in the end... and if I ever do get a big enough BR again I hope to go back upto my NL games and I also hope that this book will guide me to play better in the NL's even though considering it is a book on LHE...But if I do build a big enough BR with this book to play NL again then that in itself proves that it was a great investment... I hope to see more wonderful reviews about this book...Anyone have any remarks on (Doyle Brunsons Super System) I ordered that aswell a couple of days ago... should he bere in about a day or two.

Smasharoo, in a thread of redundant and useless posts you take the cake. Your useless 1 or 2 word responses add nothing to the forum and only serve to irritate people like me who are seeking advice on this book. Also I'd like to point out that "Ummm no" isn't a valid response to a statement that began with "I didn't find". Are you implying that I didn't think that or do you just not have enough of a grasp of the English language to understand that I was stating an opinion?
