Amarillo slims always says...You can sheer a sheep many times but skin him only once...you OP are misconstruing that comment...That term is for use in Cash Games, not large tournaments, in tournaments every opportunity you miss to gain chips can mean the entire tournament for youas all your decisions and all your play will be altered, even if it's the slightest amount, from there on in...The reason being, in tournaments you are switching tables fairly often and in turn changing teh players you are playing against, so the ability to "set up" a table is fairly limited...Imagine making this play and then your table collapsing two hands later...this makes your play absolutly ridiculous..

the pot represented 1/120th or so of the op stack. what exactly is adding 1/120th gonna do for ya? not much. even tho its a silly play, there becomes a point where its worth it to muck and not show the extreme slowplay. for example, if u have 40,000 in chips and the pot is 75 chips, making the pot 1/500th of your stack, is it worth showing your nutz-check and collecting? (i think not)

Im playing a thousand dollar nl holdem event and its early in the tournament. Im in the big blind with 67 off for 150. It gets raised to 300 and everyone folds to me and i call. The flop comes down 5 9 8 and i have the nuts. i check the flop he checks. i check the turn a K and he checks. i check the river a 2 and he checks. I decided to throw my hand in the muck for the 300 in chips so that the table didnt see my attempt at trapping. I think it was better to fold this small one to get some aggressive player later trying to by the pot.What do you think?

I didn't notice the date of the post.Something dumber (your) leaped off the screen at me, and I included it in my answer (somewhat defending the op) that addressed the op's question. I usually try to accomplish something when I post here. What did you accomplish when you posted?
