the worst day of poker ever (for me anyways)

Recommended Posts

I've had the worst day of poker today that I've ever had. I started out with $214 and I'm down to $36. I even moved my last 50 from PP to InterPoker and still got cracked and sucked out on when I was -way- ahead.I sat here and burned through almost $200 today not because I was on tilt or emotional, but because I put my money in every time I was ahead today and I was outdrawn 90% of the time I was ahead today, literally.I'm not a pro by any means, I've only been playing now for 4 or 5 months, but I am better and am a consistant winner against these idiot low level players.Has anyone else had this experience? Is there such a thing as just having a bad day in poker even though you didn't make hardly any mistakes? Can a person who is a better player than who he is playing against just be unlucky time after time after time?

I'd like to hear what limits you're playing at.It seems to me you're playing over your headif a single day of "suck outs" can destroy yourentire online bankroll.

It happens to almost all poker players. The best do not always win, but longevity will pay off.You lost $200 I'd be real happy if my beats were only 2oo. Play again tomorrow, it's a long game.

Also is there any "rules" about when to stop when loosing? I thought I read somewhere stop for the day or something with your down 30BB's?
The only rule I follow is if I feel my game is off, stop right there so I dont lose anymore money. Once I was playing bad and was getting lucky as hell, so I stopped playing then too. Just stop when you're not playing your A game.

Everyone has experienced variance. Which is exactly what this is. I had a $800 BR in March, and lost 500 of it in a month. Now I'm back to my old ways, and with good BR management, my online roll is over 1800. Just keep grinding it out, and probably put in another 50 or 100, but into pokerstars or ultimatebet, NOT party. Party is for guys with bigger BR's than 200.

You have to play near perfect poker 100% of the time to show a profit in those crazy games. I have found it so much easier to win in bigger games, late at night. If you can get in a 5-10 game with a presumably drunk guy check- raising the river as a blufff into 2 tight players who have been betting and raising then the money comes much faster. However, I am not rccomending you play above your bankroll for you will surely go broke.I am just hoping to give you incentive to play tighter than a virgin ass as this is probably the best way to build your bankroll at those limits. Also, I assume you took advantage of the 1st time real money deposit bonus. So, you could take your money off FT and 1st time deposit at empire, then do the same at party. It should help you build your bankroll fast.Hopes any of this helps.

Me I lost a alot of my BR on Tuesday.Poker and BJ and it cost me 1.6 x in U.S. dollars what it did in £GP'S. That's like losing nearly twice over. Oh, and it was 5 figures in GBP's. But SoTFW?
BJ is very, very bad for your poker, and shouldn't be paid for with your bankroll.I mean, what if your GF finds out?

The worst day for me is easy as I can never forget it.It was limit holdem and within one hour I lost with a straight, 2 flushes, a set, and full house (another set that loaded up). 30 BB right down the toilet. Almost getting rivered on everyone of them. Never won a hand despite making monsters. I wasnt really angry but more in a state of shock. I at least had my head together enough to walk away from the table and NOT re-load.So at least now when someone sucks out on me I always remember that day and say, "It could always be worse."

Dude you gotta put it in perspective.... Tighten down your game, do what you know is the right play and move on.Last night at a B&M casino, won $17 playin 1/2,NL.. woohoo... Then rolled up +$400 playing 2/5,NL. And then lost $350 in a $1k pot. Imagine watching that get raked to another player....A champion can recover, a loser will quit.
