He says the politically correct thing in front of the camera. Years ago when i saw daniel ( 7 to 8 years ago). I enjoyed his honesty, brashness, and of course his demonstrative personality. Now he is about the show. When the camera is on he is all about selling a product or selling himself. There is no honesty or passion behind him. He is a still a great player. No question about it. (IN all honesty he had one of the greatest years in poker history, but it does seem that his tournament play is starting to run dry.) But what has happened to transcend him into the person he is today? Money and fame! Well i am not sure. 7 years ago when i spoke to him. There was not a better man in that casino. Now I see a rich phony when i listen t o him talk. The passsion is gone as well as those truthful eyes and those innocent laughs that I used to enjoy watching so much. Apparently....I spent a mere 3 seconds on that point before I moved on. Toogood argues that low limit HE is a jopke and waste of time, and I disagreed, pointing out how low limits helped me personally, as it has for many other players on this forum. He said Daniel is overrated and has had his run, I commented that he is wrong and that just because he hasn't won a major event in 6 months does not mean he is washed up...I think we all know that. So let's THINK about your post and what it means to have it on here.1) You're criticizing DN on HIS OWN SITE! Sure, it's just your opinion, but who is your audience? The overwhelming majority of people reading your opinion are fans of DN who blindly defend him no matter what is said about him, whether it's true or not. You're right that everyone is entitled to their opinion, but everyone has a responsibility to be smart about expressing that opinion. If you walk into the lion's den, expect to get clawed. You have no right to complain that you have a right to your opinion, because you should be smart enough to know that your opinion would be received this way. It's not an opinion in this case, it's inflammatory, and therefore flameworthy.2) I assume your comments about DN being phony are in reference to his not calling Barry every name in the book on that Card Player interview. Well, what do you expect him to say? The guy is one of the most popular and recognizable names in poker. He knows thousands of people are going to see that interview, so you really think he'd want to look like a classless idiot by doing that? He was honest that the two of them had exchanged some words in the past, but it's a private matter between them, and he kept it a private matter. It's nobody else's business what is said between them, and he would have to be incredibly classless to publicly air out any dirty laundry between them. But he's not classless. He's a professional.3) He's projecting an image, you say? OF COURSE HE IS! He's one of the most recognizable names in poker! DN isn't just a person, he's a business entity, and his name has many stakeholders attached to it. If he goes off on a very unprofessional rant about another player, then he's not just embarassing himself, but this site, any site that he plays on, the Wynn, and poker itself.And yet, despite this image he is forced to project, he still manages to be very honest and sincere. Have you ever read his journal? I don't think any other pro in the world is as candid as he is, or as willing to discuss his private life. The image that he projects is one of a classy professional, and the real DN, if I'm even remotely in a position to guess, is also a classy professional. I'm sure if you met DN again sometime soon, and if you weren't the 850th person to come up to him that day, he'd have plenty of energy to be that same guy you met a while back. I've never met the man myself, but all I hear from people who have, whether they are friends of mine or people on here, is that he is exactly who you'd think he is. I feel that he is not the same person that i met 7 years ago.and .50-1.00 is still not poker. you cal lon any draws that is a rule. so bad beat s are going to occur consistently. I am sorry i am not a negraneau kiss ass. I come in here once in a while. I met him years ago and do not care to meet him today. As a teacher, i learn a lot from children. Most importantly i learn to see people for who they are. Daniel is not a socialist. He wants you to believe he is one. He wants you to think he is a great human being. At least Barry was donating for years. Not once they started to publicize him. LOok I stated my opinion that is all i stop by once in a whileAND as i said image is everything to him right now.You are not a teacher or educator of any kind. I refuse to believe that ANY school district in this (or any other) country could be so hard up as to employ a person with your atrocious grammar and writing skills. It is ridiculous to believe that any person who completed college could write as poorly as you do.If one of my children was being "educated" by a person who writes as poorly as you, I would immediately remove them from that school and go in search of someone who was, at least, literate.
