justblaze 0
if you got caught speeding (107 mph, let's say) in new jersey, you'd just get a hefty ticket and a bunch of points on your license which drives your insurance up. it' not pretty, as insurance in nj is ridiculously high to begin with. we can't even use geico. lol. i had never heard of someone going to jail for a first speeding offence until today...gotta love kentucky! from what i'm told, if you get pulled over outside of your home state, you don't actually have to pay the ticket--they won't come after you. however, if you get pulled over again in that state, they do have a warrant for your arrest.yea, ontario uses the ticket/point system too. the way it works in the states (to my knowledge) is that the traffic laws are state laws, not federal. so, if you get a ticket in one state, it has no jurisdiction in any other states. same thing in Canada. my dad gets letters once a month from the sherrifs office in P.E.I. rednas 0
In California, you can go to jail for driving over 100mph. They call it reckless driving out here. Haven't been caught yet. But I have been ticketed for doing 62 in a 60 zone.I haven't been to Kentucky yet. But, Kansas is a pretty sad drive. Hot and smelly.

I play every day, every year. Its at the exhibition, which is kinda like a big fair. Last year, my buddy was working as a clown (dont ask) at the ex. One day he came to meet me in the poker room after work, and while he was waiting he made me a hat out of a balloon. well, soon someone else asked him for one, and before you knew it dozens of guys were throwing red chips at him to make them a balloon hat. Security didnt like this and accosted him. They searched his knapsack right in the poker room. hilarity ensued."whats in the bag son?""a clown outfit.""dont be smart with us. [opens bag, pulls out giant rainbow clown wig]. Whats THIS for?""its part of the goddamm clown outfit!"the 4 tables around where this was happening had stopped playing. they were all in hysterics. eventually they let him back in so he could gamble his balloon profits away on the big wheel. fryer98 30
Not sure why, but the clown story reminded me of a time a kid I know got caught underage drinking. The cop is searching his backback and finds a bowl. The cop says "What's the res in the bowl from?" as he's smelling it.The kid says "Cap nip." The cop laughs at him and says "I can send it off to the lab to get tested. What is it?"The kid: "CAT NIP!!"The bad part....He was telling the truth. Someone told him that you could get high from smoking cat nip, so he tried it.
jtwoms 0
Just to make some corrections on misconceptions about driving and penalties in New Jersey...First of all, you do go to jail for anything over 100 most of the time. My buddy got caught, believe me, not good times. And also, to the person who said driving was solely a state offense and not applicable in other states, in New Jersey you get 2 points on your license for any out of state moving violation. Oh the first year of having your license, all this new knowledge I have acquired is so useful.JT

Some states have "agreements" or whatever you wanna call them to have point from out of state go to your state. For example, MD and PA have an "agreement." I only know this one, being from PA. justblaze 0
Dannyg: how great is that game? i swear i paid for my whole summer of slacking in the 2 weeks that place was open. never seen more cannons in my life.
mrdannyg 274
yeah man those games are awesome.i can't belive how tight/passive i was then, and still managed to win about 1bb/hr. i mean, i'd be folding AQ in early position without a raise, wouldn't play any pockets lower than 9s, etc. hell i had one hand with JJ, flopped out J-7-5. gets capped without me raising. turns a 2, rivers a 7. on the river i bet, get raised and just call. i'm in halifax for the summer, but am trying to come back early just to win an easy grand or two. i've heard the 10/20 game was just as crazy - i have never played above 5/10, although my bankroll is above 2000 so i can probably afford it, especially for just a couple weeks. is the 10/20 really that crazy or should i stick to 5/10?cheers,daniel

Every session was a thousand dollar swing. I remember one day last year, got down to my last $40, put it in blind (capped PF). ended up flopping a boat with Q2, and turned that into a 1200$ win. I was only stuck about $500 at that point, but thats still an 85bb swing in a live game. Only problem with those games is you gotta watch the dealers. Some of them are incompetent, and some of them are worse. Definitely swingy games, but if you got the roll i cant imagine a better game anywhere else. the 10-20 at rama pales in comparision. you been out to the halifax casino at all?
mrdannyg 274
my super-passive play minimized the swings at 5/10. pretty funny, i won/lost less than $200 every day, and had one $800+ day.i'd love to play that crazy 10/20 game, but my active bankroll will only be around $2000, so don't know if i could handle that kind of swing since i'd rather not risk it all. i do have a reserve bankroll that is my online money which will hopefully be $3000 by then, but i'll likely need to dip into some of that for rent.we'll see, i'll probably hit up some 5/10 and 10/20 depending on what i see, maybe i'll see you there. i've played 2/5 at rama, i believe its a lot more comparable to the 10/20 at the ex than the 10/20 game.i have been out to the halifax casino a few times, but mainly for 2/4 on wednesdays. thats a fun game, and 3-5 bb/hr is easy while having fun and having some drinks before going to the bars. have played some 5/10, but the game is painfully unskilled. profitably loose as well, but i booked a couple losses early and haven't been back too much. online is more profitable than the 5/10 i think.sorry i rambled, but thanks for the info on the 10/20 game.daniel

sinc 0
Ok I'm in london, Ont. Every year we have poker at the western fair, with the same dealers as the Ex. Last year I was playing 5-10. On the button, look down at black Aces. It's already been raised by the time it gets to me. Then this dealer who clearly was brand new starts counting down the f'n deck! I was like "BUDDY WHAT THE F ARE YOU DOING" Hes like OH sorry sorry, missdeal. I was like no its not, just put the cards back in order, hes like "No sorry sir that is a missdeal. So he collects everyones cards. I furiously threw my aces on the table and probably called him every name in the book. I know I was probably a bit of a dick, but that is just ridiculous especially for the amount of damn rake you have to pay. You would think for 7.50/pot you could get a dealer that would at least let you see a flop!Anyhoo /end rant.
mrdannyg 274
they really are terrible. somehow the dealers at the nova scotia casino are just as bad though. a guy sat down right in time to post the big blind, and the dealer wouldn't let him post, since he was "between the blinds".funnier story though, i was in a hand, bet the flop and the guy next to me gets frustrated, shows me his pocket 9s, then mucks. dealer mucks the cards and progresses around. i stop him, inform him that i am a live player and have seen the cards, so everyone else in the hand should also have that right. he kind of looks confused. i tell him i saw the player's cards, so he should them to everyone else. the moron grabs two random cards from the muck and flips them, pretending they were his cards, apparently thinking i wouldn't notice that his pocket 9s were now queen-2 offsuit. jeez
