Am I alone in the idea that after I have played in a B&M casino (which are very accesible in my area) that online poker is boring? I just find that sitting in front of my computer clicking away with virtual cards, chips, etc is not very fun. I really enjoy the physical experience of a live game with the interaction and atmosphere of a casino. I pretty much only play online for the abundance of tourny's nowadays.I know for some people out there that online is their only choice since a B&M casino is not nearby, but does anyone else feel the same way?

Like everything else there's advantages and disadvantages. Online is MUCH faster and you can play in your living room wearing boxer shorts. You can also do 20 other things at the same time. In fact (and it's probably not a good thing), it's rare that I'm NOT doing a bunch of other things while playing online poker. It's definitely convenient though to be able to play any type of game at any level whenever you feel like it without leaving your home.

Well, the only advantage to playing online poker, as opposed to B&M rooms, is the convenience and multi-tabling. I agree that a live card room is much more entertaining but online is definately more profitable. I guess the advantages of both lay in your motives for playing cards.

I learned to play poker online... and drove 18 hours from dallas to vegas to experience the live action. OMG... its great and I love it... I just love poker period... Online or live though... but interacting and meeting people is always cool.

It may be more fun live, but I prefer 150 hands per hour over 35
im with this guy, but then our cardrooms are small but it sucks to drive to the casino and not be able to find a good game.

Given a choice, I would say I definately prefer live play. I just wish I had a casino that was closer than 5 hours away. There is something to be said for waking up on a day when you would've otherwise feel like driving to the casino and playing online in your pj's. Its a world I love, both live and online. I would simply prefer live if it were closer to me. I don't get bored either way though

Would did you think you needed to drive all the way to Vegas from Dallas to experience live poker. Dallas has literally hundreds of clubs all over the city. And if you were looking for high stakes it exists, one club around here has regular 25-50 PL/NL holdem games.

i like live poker better then online poker. online poker gets boring. i also dont like it cause i tilt very easily when i play online.
Nothing more exciting than 4 tableing, with music blasting, and seeing 2-3 big hands at the same time

Oh my...I guess you weren't aware that there are hundreds of cardrooms in Dallas. I was in Dallas last year for the Big XII tournament and went to Jackie's Redman Club. Look it up, nice play...only have a couple of tables but spread different games all week, have many tourneys and there is always at least 1 table going. Also, they have a nice little lounge with a couple of big screen/flat screen TVs.

I live by the Bike/Commerce so live is always an option. Live is definitely more fun since its actual poker in the sense that you can look at your opponent and try to read them. The swings online are pretty sick since you see 3-4x the hands you'd see in person and so the when the bad beats come, they come back to back to back all in a matter of minutes---very easy to tilt this way. Online poker is very convenient but you're basically playing off limited information (betting patterns). When I play live, I don't feel as much of a risk since I have alot more to go by.

In my neck of the woods B & M would be great, but I don't have any to go to. I am stuck with online poker. When I play home games, it is great to try to figure each player out that is actually sitting at the table with you. It is a rush when you get to actually see the person whimper when you send them homeOrville

Online is quality, playing 8 tables at a time you can usually see 500 - 800 hands / hour. I would much rather do this than play like 25 live. Im usually listening to music online and playing with chips but I am just a maths geek so I guess I love having to work everything out fast. I am playing 1/2 right now and I think I am definitely above this level so I can get a large amount of BB / hour on each table. If you include Propping + Bonus I find this way much more profitable aswell than a casino. I guess I am a fan of winning and online gives me more big wins / hour than live could. I am gonna go to the localish casino in August though so maybe I will be converted.

Well I don't know about the rest of you, but I play better live than I do online, less distractions which I am sure all of you know what I mean here. Now, my profit per hand live is far better than online for several reasons, the less distractions, more info on each player, reading tells and such, which really helps live since you are more likely to play the same people for longer. People tend to chase a little less live, although just a little less. Now to talk about hands per hour, I know there can be a huge difference, but I look at it if you are playing 8 tables of limit, your profit for 8 tables won't be as much per table if you were playing 4, or 2 or just 1. Also playing that many hands I would for sure feel like a hamster on a wheel, click, figure pot odds only, click. Don't see where you could remember what other players are doing, except for maybe one or two.I keep two logs, one for live play and online play. In limit game live over the last 10 sessions I have made a profit anywhere from $27 to $384 and not had a losing session. Now for online the last 10 I have had 6 winning session for the last 10 with a -$84 to $128 swing. Now I know if could be a large part in how good the cards have been, but I think a large part is the info. I can get from live vs. online.I play online mainly for when I am at home and we don't have casinos here or to try new things cheap.
