You turn into a snarling dog at the slightest criticism of anything connected to "the right", and your immediate impulse is to turn on the offensive to anything connected to "the left". If your posts in this thread are any indication, you see the world in two colours, Blue and Red. When you talk about the "other side" your posts are dripping with disdain and ridicule. This type of political tribalism does not exist in Canada, at least not to anywhere near the degree it does in the USA.

You definetely make some good points..However political tribalism , while you may not recognize it , its a real thing...In the US, and in Canada, and on Mars.

If you notice , on every political issue, I disagree with you...Not because its you, but its because how we sit ideologically on a lot of topics...Doesnt make you wrong, doesnt make me wrong...Its just how we look at things..

Now YOU might not be as entrenched with all leftists views, which is fair..However generally you can predict what someone is going to think about a certain topic just by the stuff that they have supported in the past..

Sort of like how you disagree with everything Don Cherry says( politically or other wise) and I on the other hand agree with him..You might not be a 100 percent against, however if Cherry is going to comment on a controversial topic this Saturday night, its most likely that you will disagree with him(especially politically) and I on the other hand will agree.

It doesnt make us on different teams. Its how we have evolved ..

Back when I was in University, I was very Liberal in my thoughts and beliefs...As I grew older by beliefs aligned with the "right" and more conservative values...

Its not all 100 percent on one side or the other...But generally a good percentage of the population falls on either side of the spectrum.

I have known this to be a fact in the US, and this election has actually shown me that it is exactly the same in Canada..Especially amongst my friends and circle of people that I have back in Canada..

.@realDonaldTrump swindled thousands of students at his sham “Trump University.” That’s not up for debate anymore – that’s a fact.

It is totally unprecedented for a President-elect of the United States to have to settle fraud lawsuits before taking office.

Here is a great example of the spin and anti Trump propaganda..

One of the great talking points in the election was that Trump mocked a diabled reporter...Who ironically I share the same name with.

This link gives you video and point by point evidence, how this wasnt the case...Watch it with an open mind.

https://www.catholic...ers-disability/

It starts with the core issue of certain Muslims that were celebrating the 9/11 attack... Trump was accused of making it up...He didnt...There is evidence of it.

So the gist of the article is that it's all a conspiracy to cover the fact that Trump was wrong about "thousands of Muslims celebrating 9/11 to 'baseless'" when all they found was two parties of ~40 people total.

Ok then.

If you agree with Pocoahantas about anything you are probably wrong.

Nobody had ever settled a lawsuit before because we elect politicians who are immune to prosecution for their acts, irregardless how culpable they are.

Wait are you saying foreign governments would use MONEY in an attempt to influence a person in political power?

I'm sure this is a mistake. They only use leaked emails don't they?

What would they hope to gain by donating money via a voluntary contribution to an organization the person in power controls?

Yea, that was what Trump was talking about.

That or: "Intermission over in 5 minutes"

One of those two announcements was offensive to Pence so he told The Donald on them.

Its not all 100 percent on one side or the other...But generally a good percentage of the population falls on either side of the spectrum.

Because I think it's significantly easier to run a campaign as an ideologue when people want change than someone who is a pragmatic centrist (ie: how do you define your policy positions when what you don't know the issue will arise. for example: you could be pro or anti-pipeline but harder to say it depends on the route).

Also I think that is because many issues have become politicized when they probably shouldn't.

ie: the Republican has courted the hardcore religious vote, who's beliefs like Creationism (at odds with the Pope btw), faith based medical treatment, US social norms should match their view of the Bible, etc... are at odds with the "intellectuals". And in this world where we demonize people, if you are against one faction for one issue then you must be for all issues.

So now the Democrats own all of the pro-intellectual issues: white-collar economy > blue economy, equality, environmentalism, etc. But even then what does equality mean? equal in pay / opportunity / handouts or handups or none. Environmentalism; do we just tackle the worse sources of pollution or go bust building mass transit everywhere, etc. How slow of a transition do we do to shift between the old and new economy? You don't want to go too fast or you'll be a sucker, you don't want to be too slow or you'll miss out etc.

Hmm... so earlier someone asks why the Democrats always seem to be a single issue party with equality > economy? Because it's the one issue that ideologically fairly unites their base, the rest is pragmatic and will vary by situation and who's in charge.

It's a lot easier drum: taxes sucks, government sucks, get race/sexual orientation out of my life.

I have known this to be a fact in the US, and this election has actually shown me that it is exactly the same in Canada..Especially amongst my friends and circle of people that I have back in Canada..

I think it's true over the last few decades; we've lost the Progressive Conservatives and they've evolved into a party that shifted to the right (though with them electing a new leader right now so they go could go in a couple directions). And the Martin run Liberals had promise but they just had way too much baggage from the previous leader to make ago of it. Meanwhile, with Trudeau, the Liberals promised a lot of good stuff but forgot the one key thing which is to keep the deficit at reasonable levels and to get back to 0 by the next election. Though I guess they had to swing to the left given that their mandate was on the backs of the NDPers that united behind them.

Worse, it's a vindication that everything they ever thought about Trump is 100% true now and that he is going to commit genocide on every non-white who doesn't have a Loyalty account at a Trump Casino.

Whites who don't have a loyalty card at a Trump casino are ok though, right? Asking for a friend.

So settling out of court is an admission of guilt now?

Apparently yes:

Donald Trump’s campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, appeared on CNN in an interview with Anderson Cooper this week. During the interview she levied charge after baseless charge at CNN and other media for, in her words, their inability to “remind people who Hillary Rodham Clinton actually is. If others aren’t going to hold her account for her full record, then yes, we will.” So she decided to talk about a lawsuit brought by Paula Jones against Bill Clinton. That lawsuit was settled out of court for $850,000, and in Conway’s words, that translates to an admission of guilt.

Bill Clinton wasn't running for POTUS...just more misdirected nonsense about everything but the issues. And Kellyanne Conway doesn't speak for everybody.

I don't know if Trump was guilty. The settlement basically just gives everyone their money back. It's possible he would've been found guilty, sure. It's also possible he would've been found not guilty.

This back and forth of Trump did this, Hillary did this is tiresome.

I think Trump settled out of court because he didn't want to be entrenched in a legal battle for fraud while he was the sitting president of the USA. Seems pretty obvious to me.

Him settling for $25 million does not make it more or less likely that he was actually guilty.

Like, is this a parody now?

are you mentally capable of responding to a Trump criticism without bringing up Hillary Clinton? You know she lost, right? Like, he's not running against her anymore. You are aware of this? How long is this going to go on for?

it makes it more likely for sure but not definitive

Do a bit of research on what Trump U was and there is no question that it was designed as a scam from the beginning.

If he would have lost he probably would have kept fighting the lawsuit at least until he had to be deposed.

Now that's he's President $25 million is a drop in the bucket compared to what he's going to be able to grift over the next 4 years and he knows that.

GIve us some examples of how is going to "grift" in the next 4 years..

Do you actually believe Trump ran for President to swindle the United States?
