hank213 1,823
But them too, if they happen to drive that Lincoln automobile in the geographic location of Lincoln, NE and encounter a roundabout.
BigDMcGee 3,352
Lincoln drivers. So ****ing true. And they are morons. Roundabouts are amazing, if you're not an idiot.

Tiltinagain 973
Definitely round abouts. And they still suck. I've asked around and I've found nobody that likes them.
Napa Lite 3,278
What about all the studies that show they increase efficiency and reduce accidents?
SuitedAces21 2,721
study this (grabs crotch)!
BigDMcGee 3,352
they don't reduce accidents. They reduce the severity of accidents. They cause more fender benders, but there's never head on collisions or t-boning.
SuitedAces21 2,721
are we too good for a stop sign? traditional values are in the shitter in this country.
Napa Lite 3,278
Yes they do. They reduce severity and number. http://www.iihs.org/iihs/topics/t/roundabouts/qanda
brvheart 1,751
I personally hate roundabouts, but have stopped complaining about them in my car with my kids since I know the science for them is positive. I just hate change, and they seem to slow me down (which I am sure is also just in my head).
JubilantLankyLad 1,957
That's far too reasonable. Most people complaining that they hate things are actually upset because they hate change but aren't self-aware enough to realize it.
Tiltinagain 973
I think the argument can be made they are more efficient if all roads leading to the roundabout are equal in traffic flow. But when the North/South roads have heavy traffic and the East/West roads have lower traffic it makes it difficult for those coming from the low traffic roads to have space to enter the roundabout. If intersections were large enough that the roundabout had a larger circumference this problem would be minimized, as I've seen when a new road was built with a roundabout. The problem comes in that they try to stuff roundabouts in existing intersections which causes the above issues.

CobaltBlue 662
Almost all of the roundabouts here are in gated communities or low traffic suburbs. They don't bother me at all.
BigDMcGee 3,352
I hate most women in Sports talk and commentary. Not for the reason most guys do, because they've never had their hand in the dirt. I don't give a shit about having your hand in the dirt. Most of the guys I like, have never had their hand in the dirt. No, my issue isn't that they aren't jock enough, but rather that they are not nerd enough. That there are basically no analytical minds anywhere in women's sport commentary. I think part of this is, that the skill set that our sexist media requires women to have to appear on TV (or even Radio, 'cause the dudes doing the hiring are dudes), is basically, hotness, is not the same skill set it takes to have an analytical mind. So while they will put absolute disgusting dudes on the airwaves who are good at reporting ( and some that are bad at it, like that slob Windhorst), they will almost never do that with women. Ramona Shelborne is probably the best woman reporter in the NBA, and she is well, so shockingly unattractive that it was jarring to see her on TV. And good on ESPN, because she's great at her job, but she is by far the exception. Most are just pretty hacks. Some are pretty and talented for broadcasting/reporting, but not at all for analysis. I think the issue is that most of the women talking sports have come through J-school, broadcasting school or English Major background, and that is largely narrative based thinking not analytical thinking. I think this is an issue with the vast amount of the male reporters too, btw. That they are used to writing/creating storylines and not actually analyzing what's actually happening. Unless the guy from a J-school background is particularly entertaining to me ( take, say, Tony Kornheiser), I have no use for them at all ( and I only have use for TK's entertainment, his sports insight is non-existent). So take Sarah Spain, frequent LeBatard Show contributor. I think she's funny. I love the way she gives Dan and Stu shit. I think she's very good at talking about the meta-issues surrounding sports. She seems very bright. But her actual sports opinions, about players and events, are absolutely awful. She's basically just stugotz. And I'll forgive her, because I value laughing over most anything, but what I wouldn't do for a women in sports talk who was actually insightful about sports.
