listening to music while playing. +ev or -ev?

I just listened to the Radio interview again, Honestly what did that guy think afterwords? The part about Arienette is where I think the DJ just loses all hope for any understanding..DJ:Uh, How about this Arienette, how does she fit into all this?Connor: Umm, I’d prefer not to talk about it... in case she's listening...DJ: Oh, I’m sorry; I didn't realize she was a real person.Connor: She's not. I made her up...DJ: Oh, So she's not real?Connor: Just as real as you or I...DJ: I don’t think I understand...Connor: Neither do I, but after I grow up, I will. I mean a lot... A lot of things…are really unclear for me right now...And to make matters worse...Connor: Well I do have a brother who died in a bathtub, drowned... actually I had five brothers who died that way...DJ: Hah!Connor: No, I’m serious... My mother drowned one every year for... five consecutive years... they were all named “Padriac”, so, that’s…they all got one song...The DJ must have just... lol I bet he's still seeing a counselor because of this interview.

Umm.... Wow that's like trying to Answer if Hell is Endothermic or Exothermic, But I answered that for a Philosophy class so Im working on it!
Hope you got it right, that was a very famous answer done by a student at Harvard (or some ivy league school) several years ago. It was very clever.

The one about his girlfriend etc.. etc..? If that's the one, Our teacher gave us his response right after we took the question, He said if our answers were less creative we wouldn't get an A.... I was in awe at that guy's balls to put that.

Here's that answer Jayweb. Enjoy. "First, we postulate that if souls exist, then they must have some mass. If they do, then a mole of souls can also have a mass. So, at what rate are souls moving into hell and at what rate are souls leaving? I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for souls entering hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Some of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to hell. Since there are more than one of these religions and people do not belong to more than one religion on average, we can predict that all people and all souls go to hell on average. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change in volume in hell. Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in hell to stay the same, the ratio of the mass of souls and volume needs to stay constant. Thus, there are two possible conditions: 1. ) If hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter hell, than the temperature and pressure in hell will increase exponentially until all hell breaks loose. -OR- 2. ) If hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until hell freezes over. We can solve this (de)lemma with the 1990 postulation of Ms. Theresa LeClair, the woman who lived across the hall from me in first year residence. Since I have still not been successful in obtaining sexual relations with her, I know that condition two has not been met, and thus it can be concluded that condition one is true, and therefore that hell is exothermic."

we can predict that all people and all souls go to hell on average
It was after this line that My teacher first knew my full name, As I laughed harder than I've laughed in a long time after readin this.... "on average" I love it!

Balls? That was pretty ballsey, yes, but I got a better one. A student at Purdue several years ago, came in to take a test in a Philosophy class. The test consisted of one question: What is courage? Most of the students wrote long answers on bravery, valor, going outside your comfort zone, etc. This student thought for a moment and wrote his name, the date and two words on his paper......This is.He turned it in and got an A.

That is awesome, Is there some site that's got all these amazing answers to these questions? I'd never heard that one...
No, not that I know of. That last one was a local Indiana legend as far as I know, but you can never be sure where in the exothermic hell it came from :-)

My IPOD is one of my favorite tools for poker. When I get steamed, I turn on some reggae or Johnny Cash. When I need to get amped I turn on some cheesy techno or rap. I can barely play poker without it, especially online games. It is especially nice to have it with me when grinding out a mind numbing eight hour omaha or limit hold em game at a casino. If i ever make it to a WSOP final table im gonna throw off all my opponents by break dancing during hands while blasting 80's hip hop.

When I am playing online I listen to my Death/Black Metal. I never listen to music in a "live" setting. Later, Charles.

Definately +EV for me. But of course people are different.I like to listen to good mood music such as Rush, Shadow Gallery or good mood power metal when I have a bad run or am just playing badly for one reason or another. Helps my nerves just to sing and be positive. When I'm playing good and picking up pots, little more aggressive music comes in play like "Gothenburg metal" or aggressive Finnish stuff. And in MTT's later stages I sometimes play Uriah Heep's Stealin' on repeat. "I was stealing when I should've been buying..." 8-)
Another Rush fan? Nice! :club: I'm a diehard Rush fan myself...

Wow, its the "I have a man-crush on Connor Oberst thread" :club: my iPod is a necessity while playing; it really does help me concentrate. Depending on the mood/need, something like the Distillers if I want to kick it up a notch; the Shins if I just want to relax. The new NIN album has been played alot lately during tournament play for some reason........
