It Looks Like Rounders 2 Is Going To Get Made

I hope this is true.

“I’ve discussed making Rounders 2 with Matt Damon and I would say that’s going to be instantaneous,” Weinstein continued. “The guys [writers David Levien and Brian Koppelman] have a great idea, a way to make it more international where you start the card game in Paris, that’s all I want to say. There might be a certain beautiful Parisian actress involved in it, and then we’re off to the racetrack and Vegas with Matty and Edward Norton, and a new supervillain to replace John Malkovich.” Weinstein is eyeing Robert De Niro for that role.

Is De Niro going to be playing an autistic 19y/o virgin? If not, I'm going to have trouble buying him as a top poker player.

De Niro wouldn't have even bought into such a shitty idea in 2005 when there was money to be made. Unless Weinstein has pictures from the 70s of De Niro in a gimp suit suspended from the ceiling of Keitel's coke basement, I am not expecting that one to happen.

Forget Rounders, that article also says Shakespeare in Love is getting a sequel! ABOUT DAMN TIME!

It's sad that they keep rehashing and remaking tired old stuff, when there is a glorious romcom to be pulled from the life and works of Leopold von Sacher-Masoch.

Sounds like they don't have a script yet, just an idea. But if it does get made I really do hope it is a blockbuster because that would make my script easier to market.
