Daniel Negreanu Wins 2013 WSOP Player of the Year

Daniel Negreanu called his shot and is the first player in history to repeat as World Series of Poker Player of the Year. He traveled to WSOP Europe with the goal in mind, publicly called his shot and shipped the title with his final table finish in the €25,600 High Roller event.

Negreanu originally aimed to win the title in the WSOPE Main Event and posted on Twitter, “WSOPE main event starts tomorrow and I will be making the final table, winning POY, and also my 6th bracelet.”

Though he didn’t make the final table, he finished 25th, but is in contention to add a sixth bracelet in the High Roller event.

Negreanu began his campaign at WSOP APAC, first with a final table finish in the $2,080 Mixed Event, but he strapped a fifth bracelet on his wrist by winning the Main Event for $1,097,209. He also fulfilled two of his 2013 goals he posted in his blog by winning a bracelet and cash for $1 million.
