I'm hoping to get the bye in my division and someone other than Biatch getting the bye in the West. This provides an extra opportunity for Biatch to get knocked out. It's +ev imo. It's a strategy designed to maximize my chances of winning.
Swacker Dave 89
When I send these offers of Brett Connolly, a 1st, a 2nd and Iginla or Heatley (if you want) for "insert name" Defensive Prospect you guys only see Heater and Iggy and just discard the offer or any duscussion? How is a package like that over valueing them... I am offering them as throw ins in a much bigger package? Do you guys really think over an 80 game season they will only have a combined 20 assists? Maybe I am consulting the wrong Pool Book....

MapleLeafpoker 1,462
When I send these offers of Brett Connolly, BUST! Bob's first is worth less than my 4th rounder. True story.

And then that could turn into Ovechkin+Crosby+Malkin+Vanek+Markov+Spezza. You would be silly not to.
FCP Bob 1,321
I know a lot of things have been said in fun but I'll just clarify them just in case anybody takes some things seriously. If any teams include real money or other considerations like that in a trade they both will no longer be in the pool. And not dressing your best lineup and trying to win a game is against the rules. You would never know about any real money changing hands. So you're telling me that I can't use that lineup? I'm not tanking. I'm trying to finish 1st in my division and increase my chances of winning the championship this year. Isn't trying to win what were supposed to be doing?
serge 904
So Daniel could offer the following trade: To Daniel : Steven Stamkos To Dale: A round of golf with Phil Ivey A dinner date with Vanessa Rousseau Brent Seabrook 1st round pick fair?

You are supposed to try and win every game with the resources that you have available to you at that time subject to the normal managerial discretion that we all have. Can you please let me know what my roster should be tomorrow then; or get your fine book ready. I find it odd how I'm restricted in who I can dress on my roster when I have no intention of tanking yet a team can essentially give up on winning 10 days before the draft by trading away two of their best players and almost half their cash. FCP Bob 1,321
http://www.alternativehockeyleague.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8939&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 For next season I think it's important that we clarify in the rules that each team is expected to put in their best lineup for each game. Things that teams will be expected to do. 1. Dress their best players who are available for that night. 2. Use an OT player and order of players for the shoot out designed to win on that night. 3. Not have long term injured players or players who are in the minors on their active roster if they have empty space on their reserve list or healthy players on reserve. 4. When the rosters expand at the end of the season players who are on their farm should be used if they are better than other players available for a game. 5. Teams will still have discretion to get players into 10 games but when they sit a player to get another into 10 games the player sitting shouldn't be one of their top players who was available for that night but rather the 6th forward or 4th d-man. 6. Not sit out players at the end of the season to protect their contract status for the next season. If a player is clearly one of your best you must use them whenever they are playing. To police this I propose the following. 1. If there are problems I will first discuss it with a team. 2. The next step will be a 1st formal warning that will be public. The warning can be over one incident or a pattern or incidents. 3. A 2nd warning will result in the loss of a 4th round draft pick. 4. A future warning will result in the loss of a 1st round draft pick. A team would have the right to appeal any penalty and the league would vote on that appeal but it would take 60% or 12 owners to overturn a penalty. It's also possible that a penalty of the loss of a 4th round pick can be given without any previous warnings. An example of when this would happen might be a team like The Swackers not playing Giroux when available in the last game of the season. I don't really think we have a serious problem but I think it's time that we formalize the fact that teams should be trying to win every game based on the resources that they have. I don't really see ever having to give any penalty since once everybody knows what the expectations are they will do the right thing. Nothing in the above is designed to second guess the legitimate questions around who we should use in our lineups but there will always be a few clear cut things that teams should and shouldn't be doing. digitalmonkey 929
Is it worth losing a 4th round pick to tank for tomorrow night ? That will be the result. Yes. The draft isn't worth what it used to be.
Babying 613
Yes. The draft isn't worth what it used to be. dale I lost my first rounder 9 years ago because I did not adjust my lineup on a trade. Did I like it? Of course not but I lived with the penalty.
