MapleLeafpoker 1,462
Rangers sign Alain Vigneault to 5 yr/$10 million. Torts going to be the new Coach in Vancouver Hey look, a hockey trade!
Fenxis 99
From what I understand, they pushed pretty hard for his hiring. When he plays them 58 minutes a night they might regret it...

Zach6668 513
Bernier to Toronto Scrivens, Frattin, 2nd round pick to Los Angeles
MapleLeafpoker 1,462
Im suprised its the Leafs, only cause I figured Reimer proved himself as a #1 last year. Doesn't this open up a never ending story of "who is #1 in Toronto???" as long as these 2 are the goalies on the roster?
serge 904
Interesting trade. Definite upgrading goaltending.
Zach6668 513
I don't really know what more Reimer has to do to be seen as a legit #1 goalie in the eyes of his own organization. I'm pretty high on Bernier, but admittedly, I haven't seen him play a lot, mostly going off conjecture, likely 3 years ago. I still don't really get it. Yeah, it creates a goaltending controversy, but having depth is nice. I don't know. Bernier still an unknown too. They should flip Reimer to Philly for Couturier and Philly can buy out Bryzgalov. I think some internal competition is a good thing and while Reimer has played well there has to be some concern with his rebound control. I wonder what Bernier is going to make as a RFA now ? I wonder what Bernier is going to make as a RFA now ? I would prefer my team to have a clear cut #1 goalie, and to have a capable backup like Vokoun, Biron, Giguere. Having 2 goalies fight it out for who becomes #1 works out sometimes, but mostly it doesn't as fas as I can recall. I'm not suggesting Reimer is the #1, I just don't know that either one is going to mature to a #1 under these circumstances, especially in this city.
Zach6668 513
The Leafs are apparently retaining some salary in this deal.
FCP Bob 1,321
I hope this is true Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger 45m Some rumblings Phaneuf may be in play. Nonis says he will trade just about anyone, but says no one has called on the captain...yet. #TSN
Zach6668 513
The Leafs have a ton of work to do. Only 11 players signed to contracts. At least 5 RFAs to re-sign (Kadri, Gunnarson, Franson, Colborne, Bernier, Fraser?), and a few key UFAs (Bozak, MacArthur). $20M seems like a lot, until you realize you need 10-12 players, and about a quarter of them will have to come from the open market. Also, at least 1 or 2 need to be top 6 forwards, and another two or three need to be top 4 defensemen.

mrdannyg 274
you drafted Alex Grant... did you already dump him from your farm? Don't think so. I talked about him a lot because I offered the Jared Cowen bet vs him, but no takers. At least, I don't think it was me. Am I betting against myself now? At the nexus of the universe? Can Ryane Clowe score more than Ryane Clowe?
Zach6668 513
oops, my bad, it was mad mike... and he dropped him at the 2011 draft when he selected Jamie Oleksiak.

ajs510 122
When he was selected I was a fan of Alex Grant and would have taken him at some point. Obviously he hasn't worked out to potential or even half of potential.
Zach6668 513
Yeah, he was on my radar too, but just never quite enough there to take him in a 5-round draft.
doox 15
So we get a former Flyer that was once busted for distribution of a video of his teammate screwing an underage girl. Lovely.
serge 904
So Vinny Lecavalier is being bought out...I am confused on how this works now.. Is he a UFA and the Ligthning CANT sign him? Or is he a UFA just like regular UFAs and Lightning have full crack at him? The memo that was sent out I am assuming means that buying out a player and then resigning him for a lower contract is cap circumvention? Also for a player to be bought out, first he has to clear waivers..
