My kids are asking for Minecraft on the Xbox. I don't play Xbox so i have questions...

1. What is the difference between Xbox and Xbox 360?

2. Which one can Minecraft be played on?

3. Is Minecraft available at stores or is it only for download?

Thanks!

1. Xbox is Microsoft's original gaming console. The 360 is the next generation Xbox. It has improved graphics, faster speeds, more features, etc.

2. Not entirely sure, but I believe Minecraft is available only for Xbox360. I would recommend getting the 360 anyways because all games that are now released are only released for the Xbox360 which makes the original Xbox pretty much obsolete. All original xbox games can be played on the 360 as well.

3. Minecraft should be available in some stores or you can purchase and download it from the Xbox live marketplace.

If you have any other questions, feel free to pm me

I use Wikipedia directly 100x more than I use any search engine to learn things and stuff.

I use search engines to find Wikipedia pages because I'm too lazy to surf to Wikipedia first.

I am building my interpretation of the White Tower in Tar Valin which is from Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. I built what you see three block by block. I Was trying to decide on the floor in the main hall and did the wood but I went back to when it was first introduced in the series and they said it was stone. I might redo it. Don't know yet.

I need your help guys. I know nothing about computers. I need to buy a new laptop bc it's time.

I don't play any video games or watch movies or anything on it. I just need it basically for my fantasy sports drafts on yahoo, and the fchl chat auction thing. And maybe editing the odd excel sheet for some of my other leagues.

My old one was a pretty expensive MacBook but I don't really want to spend another $1200 on that. I'm leaning the chrome book bc it's cheap and I think it will do what I want. Is that a good choice? If not, what's a good choice for a cheap laptop for what I want?

If you want to go with a full computer without breaking the bank this one on sale at Futureshop this week is a good value at $500

It's basically the current version of what I have and do all my work on now. It'll handle a lot more than you say you need.

Edit, no DVD drive which I have on my computer but never really use.

Thanks bob. I don't really need a DVD drive or anything. I hate watching movies or tv shows on my laptop so I don't think I'll be needing a DVD drive.

Do you know much about the cromebook? It's $329.

I've never used one but it isn't a Window's machine so won't operate Window's software but there are probably some work arounds for some Window's functions.

This might help.

Cromebook basically only runs the Crome O/S; ie basically only a web browser. So if you truly only want it for updating Yahoo and editing google docs then you are gtg. If it must be MS Excel though.... you'll need something else. Unless you get a Microsoft 365 Sub -- a 'steal' at 'only' $7/month.

ps: LibreOffice is a free alternative to MS Office

Thank you, I didn't know that. I assume I'll be able to use the fchl chat with this type of laptop?

Looking through Bob's link it looks like CromeOS has grown to have more stuff runable in 'offline' mode so you aren't entirely crippled w/o web but still limted.

The FCHL chat should be good to go as that was a IRC client within a web page.
