You would get destroyed. You have a small chance of winning. It would take a suckout for you to have any hope.   You cant comprehend the fact that I stated I know this certain person inside and out

Went to the Flop with a plan, got lucky ... not unheard of in poker.   Not so sure this is a suck-out though since big money wasn't put into the pot when 'hero' was behind. At least that is how I d

Learn to read idiot!

where you play in detroit? I only live a few hours away, sure the drive will be alright.

buy a ticket to cleveland! We can drive up together!!!!!

i don't think it's fair to have to fly there. pay half my ticket and we're in.

FCP Fall Classic Detroit 2012 ??

November 9-11 2012 ??

I'd be willing to cover a hotel room or two, and help out on some travel/expenses as well.

Based on the info I found, the Holiday Inn Express is only about 12 minutes from the alley. Also, based on the OP posts, some of the "kids" here posting would need to be over 18 or get your parents to come along. BTW - I can't/won't cover parents, unless you have a MILTF.

I've never been to Detroit. Would be a nice weekend getaway. I've got too much work going on to set a sooner date, and wife will be out of town that weekend too. :)

Thoughts??

I'm a "Detroiter". The reason for the quotes is everyone in SE Michigan is a "Detroiter".

All (well earned) reputation and cheap shots aside, you could do a lot worse than a weekend getaway to play in Detroit. I don't get out a lot to play these days, but if you decide to come to town I'll give any advice on places to stay and play while you're here. I'll even vow to meet you and buy the first round. This town will likely pleasantly surprise you in some ways - especially the casinos. It can also live up (down) to its reputation.

Don't count on OP actually showing up to a challenge. Sounds like he is a typical short stacking no BR hit & run donk.

I need to get out and find this guy.

...I know this certain person inside and out and his every move....

You keep saying this ITT, but the truth is you DIDN'T read him correctly. You admit that you didn't put him on a monster pre-flop. You were dominated pre-flop and had no idea just how dominated you were. He played you pre and you got lucky to flop trips (72:1)

You apparently don't know him as well as you think since you grossly underestimated his pre-flop holdings.

Michigan bowling alley ... Sunday night 1-2 (plays more like 2-5) ... I open for $12 UTG+1, 2 callers, very loose player in HJ raises to $42 (would be all-in for $90) ... even more loose player in BB tanks, then shoves for $310. I am sitting there with 77. I call for my current stack of $260. Here is my take ...

HJ is trying to steal very often here and is smart enough to know that the other players know that he is all in on any Flop that is checked to him and probably calling any bets if he is close to hitting. Little reason to believe he has a real hand here and if he does I can still win the side pot to make some money.

I have already called down BB with strong hands to make him show 10 high, Q high on River bluffs ... not sure why others are folding to him. The way he checked me out and the tanking led me to believe that he was weak and just wanted me out of the way. My feeling is that if he wanted some of his money back from me he would have flatted high pairs (or min raised so HJ was all-in) since he also knows the range on HJ is wide. So shoving actually showed weakness to me at the time.

It is very early in my session, so I am willing to risk this since I know I will have plenty of time to get it back on this table ... I am not worried about other callers since they would have re-raised me with any 88 or better.

Since this is a 3-way all-in, you must show cards in this room (heads up you dont) ... Both of them flip over AQ off ... yeah!! Ace on the Flop ... Boo!! 7 on the Turn ... thank you both very much you are now drawing dead!!

Although I consider this play to be 'extreme' for myself I was very pleased that I was willing to go with my read here ... which was that they probably had no more than 12 outs if I was up against AQ and KJ. As it turns out they were down to 4 outs AND HIT ONE!! I was just lucky enough to hit my 2-outer on them. This is typical bowling alley stuff that requires you to have a read on each player(s) in the hand and modify your game possibly each hand.

Any thoughts?? This is West Michigan stuff, but I hear the same stuff from Detroit area as well ... Odds calc shows I am only 62% pre-Flop which I thought I was better than that ... But as I indicated, I was willing to flip here for some reason. By the way, I got married on 7-7-2007, so I have a little 'attraction' to that hand!!

I dont play online poker i dont have a record to show you. You can play online simulated cards being in multiple tournaments at a time on 6 different screens where you cant see your opponent and they cant see you, etc. Play a live game is where you are put to the test. I play live on average 2-3 days a week at about 3-8 hours per day. I accept your challenge and willingness to fly here. But we all know that just a bunch of "big talk and nonsense running of your words"

First off I've been hanging out in the wrong forum on here, this shit is priceless.

Donk4, TrueAce, Tehoe and the other guys you are calling idiots are great players and with great results to prove it and over a significant sample. I had a few "moments" with them myself and it was because I didn't know what the hell I was talking about and/or just being a little bitch but I've learned a lot from them once I learned the STFU and listen to what they were saying. Admittedly they could stand to use a bit more tact in their responses but after dealing with all these cocky arrogant inexperienced poker players who think they know it all for as long as they've been dealing with it, I can't say I blame them.

As for playing online everyone with 1/2 a brain knows online poker is much harder than live, especially post black Friday. I still play online in the US and I play daily against some of the best players still playing online in the US. Rest assured I've had to improve my game significantly to get anywhere against these guys and I can pretty much guarantee you that you would get crushed online.

I play 6 days a week 9 to 11 hours a day 6 to 8 tables. So just the sheer number of hands played and situations encountered makes online players considerately more experienced than guys who only play live. Most of these guys ITT have plenty of live experience, as well as online, giving them a lot of playing experience, much more than you have I'm sure.

In my opinion your whole thought process in this hand is flawed. If I'm doing anything with Q2o there besides folding it's 3 betting but even that isn't good. If I'm 3 betting or flatting here I'd rather do it with hands that flop well and/or play well against big pair type hands.

But nice hand as it turned out but just realize this play will lose you money over time.

Can I go???

Okay maybe I'm a donk for just replying to a thread that's over a year old in its origin.

But I have to say. I'm a beginner just starting to enter the next level. This was a donk move that not even a beginner (like me) would try from stupidity. This is what I have learned from this post.

1) When players make donk moves and get lucky they find it hard to admit they got lucky and instead think it was skill.

2) Only play in the same room with the same people all the time. Thus eventually you get to know their patterns and you can tell how they will play every preflop they get. - I'm being sarcastic, one yes you need to know your opponent and how they play. In my mind however, this lacks of challange and any real skill. Why not play in other locations with others you don't know and see how well you do then.

3) Might as well try a donk move once ina while, they seem to pay off.

I'm sorry but you can't convince me that you were just damn lucky here, it wasn't a good insightful decision.

Welcome to the site ... as far as your comments ...

1) This player got lucky, yes .. and he was boasting about it for some reason after hitting a one-outer but the thread quickly got out of hand and off topic. It evolved into an 'overall' skill level of play rather than focusing on this hand directly. He had a plan for the hand AND IT WASNT hitting trips on the Flop, it was using a read on an opponent in an attempt to steal a pot on a board that didnt favor the opponent. The hand never got to that point since he did hit trips and (thankfully) hit quads on the Turn or he wouldve been hurtin' for chips for certin'

2) Some ppl can only play in one room, thus they do get to know the regs ... there is actually more skill required to be a winning player playing against regs than playing against new players all the time IMO. Granted this doesnt really help you develop sensing tells and reads as much since you are watching the same ppl most of the time and can get lulled to sleep a bit.

3) During a tournament it is wise to 'try' things against opponents to see how they might react to this situation later when chips are more critical. These types of moves can be considered 'donk' types of moves but are worth your while to accumulate infomation against an unknown opponent.

IMO the OP was just bragging about a lucky hit and then things got out of hand. He never got to 'try' what he wanted to try in the hand due to the lucky board.

My thought process is that you need to have a plan every time you put in chips, sometimes you never get to execute your plan due to the board that comes out. He had a plan and got a lucky board ... but the 2 are totally unrelated and thats where the thread fell apart. GL
