FCP Bob 1,311
10-7 Comes Through For Negreanu AgainPosted 6 minutes ago by tayke2 Daniel Negeanu has said several times on TV, interviews, and other places, that 10-7 is his favorite hand. Well with hands like this, we understand why, as he has just busted Chris Moorman. We didn't catch the hand until the river, with the board reading . Moorman had a bet of 3,025 in front of him, and action was on Negreanu. He went all in for about 13,000, having Moorman covered. Moorman made the call, and Kid Poker showed for a rivered flush. Moorman mucked his hand, then looked up at us, and said "Old faithful!" before heading to the rail.Negreanu is now one of the biggest stacks in the room, sitting on 27,000Read more: http://www.pokernews.com/live-reporting/2012-world-series-of-poker/event-5-pot-limit-hold-em/

FCP Bob 1,311
Attendance Down For This EventPosted 14 minutes ago by tayke2• Level 5 Last year, this event saw 765 runners. The end of level 4 was the deadline for players to late register, and the final number on the big clock is 639, a drop in attendance of 16%.This is a trend that unfortunately has been seen in most of the events so far. Last year, 3,157 players played in the first $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em event, where as the opening event this year saw just 2101 entrants. It should be noted that the first $1,500 event last year was the 18th event rather then the first event, but it still is an alarming site. Attendance was also down in the $500 Casino Employees event, with a drop from 850 last year to just 732 this year.It should also be noted that the $1,500 Seven Card Stud Hi-Low 8-or-Better actually saw a slight increase in entrants, with 622 this year as compared to 606 last year. Regardless, it will be interesting to see how the numbers look for the rest of the series.Read more: http://www.pokernews.com/live-reporting/2012-world-series-of-poker/event-5-pot-limit-hold-em/ Read more: http://www.pokernews.com/live-reporting/2012-world-series-of-poker/event-5-pot-limit-hold-em/

FCP Bob 1,311
Esfandiari Leads Stacked Field Into the MoneyPosted 1 hour 28 minutes ago by donpeters• Level 11 Antonio Esfandiari on topIt was an action-packed day here at the Rio for Day 1 of Event 5: $1,500 Pot-Limit Holdem. A field of 639 players bought in for the tournament and of those, 71 remain. When the last level ended, 77 players remained and that was supposed to be the end of the day, but since they were less than one table away from the money, they played down to the money (a new rule the World Series of Poker added this year). At the start of the day, we had an absolutely stacked table that started with Jonathan Little, Shannon Shorr, Allen Kessler and Phil Ivey. Within the first two levels, they were joined by the likes of Gavin Smith, Sean Getzwiller, Vitaly Lunkin and Faraz Jaka. Unfortunately for all of these players, none of them survived the day. Other victims included Dan Kelly, Barry Greenstein, Chad Brown, Scott Seiver and Shaun Deeb.Leading the way above everyone else is none other than "The Magician" himself Antonio Esfandiari, who bagged a whopping 112,600 in chips. He is followed closely by Zach Jiganti with 102,500 in chips and Jonathan Aguier, who will be coming back to a stack of 100,900 tomorrow. These aren’t the only big names we have left. James Mackey (37,900), Nam Le (31,600), Steve Brecher (23,600), John Juanda (53,800), Terrence Chan (37,700), Tommy Vedes (58,800) and Daniel Negreanu (94,000) are all still alive as well. The remaining 71 players are all in the money and they will return tomorrow at 1:00 PM to hopefully play down to a final table. PokerNews will be here to bring you all of the action. FCP Bob 1,311
Negreanu Nails The Double UpPosted 6 hours 18 minutes ago by tayke2 Daniel Negreanu raised under the gun to 14,000, and Tommy Vedes defended his big blind. The flop came down , and Vedes checked to Negreanu, who bet 16,000. Vedes tanked for about a minute, before sliding in a check raise to 54,000 total. Negreanu thought for just a few moments before moving all in for 80,000, and Vedes made the call.Negreanu: Vedes: Vedes was in a world of hurt, and would need to pair up again to knock Kid Poker off. However, the turn and river both came sixes, and Negreanu scooped the pot to get up to 180,000, while Vedes drops to 100,000.Read more: http://www.pokernews.com/live-reporting/2012-world-series-of-poker/event-5-pot-limit-hold-em/?page=

Pellegrino called.Pellegrino: Negreanu: "Sorry," announced Pellegrino."It's not over yet," Negreanu replied.Indeed it wasn't.The board ran out and a non-nonchalant Negreanu said, "I spiked a king, didn't I?"Yes, and Negreanu scooped the pot with kings-full.Read more: http://www.pokernews.com/live-reporting/2012-world-series-of-poker/event-5-pot-limit-hold-em/?page=
FCP Bob 1,311
Pellegrino Wins the Day; Negreanu Looking For His Fifth BraceletRead more: http://www.pokernews.com/live-reporting/2012-world-series-of-poker/event-5-pot-limit-hold-em/ Read more: http://www.pokernews.com/live-reporting/2012-world-series-of-poker/event-5-pot-limit-hold-em/ After another hard-fought day of pot-limit hold’em, day 2 has come to an end with just 9 players standing out of the original 71 who began the day.The day began in the Amazon Room with Antonio Esfandiari as chip leader. However, as we all know, the wheels of fortune can turn at any moment in poker and Esfandiari found himself eliminated in 44th place. Other eliminations came swiftly in the early going, with the field dropping from 71 players to just 22 within the first 6 levels. Other notable eliminations include Terrence Chan (38th), John Juanda (18th), Nam Le (16th) and Steve Brecher (12th).Interestingly, the final elimination of the night happened on the exact final hand of the last level scheduled for play. After losing nearly all of his stack to Bryan Pellegrino in this fateful hand, Thom Werthmann found himself all-in on the big blind. The hand was checked down by Daniel Negreanu and Jonathan Aguiar and Werthmann's eight-high was bested by Aguiar's king-high - knocking him out in 10th place.Pellegrino will start tomorrow's final table as chip leader (790,000), however, all eyes are sure to be on four-time WSOP bracelet winner Negreanu, who will come in tomorrow 6th in chips (212,000). Negreanu won his last WSOP bracelet in 2008, when he took down the $2,000 Limit Hold'em event. Negreanu had a near-miss in 2009, when he lost out to Barry Shulman heads up in the World Series of Poker Europe Main Event. That being said, Negreanu will surely be playing his heart out tomorrow to capture his fifth bracelet.Joining Negreanu will be two-time World Poker Tour champion Tommy Vedes, European Poker Tour title-holder John Eames and WPT title holder Jonathan Aguiar. The competition is set to be fierce given the talent of the remaining field, to say the least. Be sure to stay tuned to PokerNews for live updates as our remaining players duke it out until a champion is crowned. Play is set to begin at 2pm (PST).Until then, we wish you a good night!Read more: http://www.pokernews.com/live-reporting/2012-world-series-of-poker/event-5-pot-limit-hold-em/
