Why do you feel that only a select few who try to play poker full time actually succeed? What qualities do you believe combine to make a winning poker player?
Three keys and real success cannot be achieved without all three. In order of importance:1. Discipline2. Fundamental knowledge3. Raw talent

Age 17 for both. I just seem to have been really lucky with that hand when I'm running bluffs with it I seem to flop two pair or better A LOT!

Average player by definition would be 9-1. Above average player probably not any better than 4.5-1.

Do you back anyone? Do you think there is decent money to be made from backing players? Do you ever buy pieces of players?Estimate your ROI in EPT Monte Carlo €25k/€100kEstimate your ROI in WSOP MEIf

Hows it going daniel? I check out everything you do. I got a two part question, I had just sat down at a mirco stakes table first hand I woke up with QQ it went UTG folds,MP1 3 bets it, MP2 min raise it, everybody else folds to me I had no info on them so I just call and UTG calls flop comes 7d 9s 7c i check UTG checks and MP2 pots its and we both fold so was that the right move? so the 2nd part should i've had just 3 bet it pre and got it in on the flop if called or got it in pre if re raised? And how would you of played it? and they both had a little bit more then a full buy in so they were up and I had a full stake. Thanks for all you do for the poker world!
You have to also call on the flop at the very least

Hey Daniel,Big fan of yours. Anyways my question is, I'm always reading about the poor financial situations poker players/gamblers are in from the best like Ivey to guys like Lindgren and Matusow who I know you are good friends with. So, do you ever worry about your financial situation seeing all the ups and downs that come with poker? Clearly winning millions of dollars playing the game doesn't mean anything stable if you're always gambling it away. Do you view yourself as someone who is smart with your money or have you come close to problems like the ones some of your peers are facing?I know it's a financial question and personal but I always find the lives of poker players interesting with what they really do with all those millions of dollars. I also would hate to ever see you in a Matusow like situation since you seem to be such a smart and great guy. Anyways thanks for answering these questions!Marty

How do you develop discipline as a poker player? Does it come with experience or do you have to consciously work to develop it? That might seem like a dumb question, but it's something i've had a problem with for a while now. I'll work hard to build a bankroll. Then ill sit down and play well for a month or so with really good results, then I just lose focus and end up giving back all my winnings. I feel that I have a lot of potential and I really enjoy playing, especially for the social aspect of the game, but that same process happens over and over. Any advice? Or is poker just not the game for somebody with that habit?

If I was dead broke tomorrow with no assets and a $5k bankroll I could make it work. I know this, and never worry about money.

It comes with age and experience to a certain degree, but it's also something that can be worked on. Just focus on it harder and make sure you do everything you can to put yourself in situations where you aren't going to stumble.

Hi Daniel! What would you estimate your playing time on the felt breakdown between playing tournaments versus playing cash games? (i.e. 60/40%) And do you think this is the most profitable model for you? Thanks!

You said on HSP that it would take some huge sum of money (250k was it?) to get you to eat a burger. What would it take for you to eat an egg or drink a glass of milk? Would you consider eating fish again? It's healthy and fish are too dumb to suffer. On a different note, Toronto is considering building a casino but there is opposition. As a TO boy would you lobby city council in favour of it?

Dan, T. Brunson says u r a Celebrity/tourney player. Does it bother you that cash "real" poker player (like u were when u started your career) think of you differently or is that just the path your life took u and u have evolved past just being a cash poker player?
