CobaltBlue 662
Figure it's been a while since I posted an interesting hand...Bovada 3/6 NLHE (2-handed)Button $480Hero $720Hero is BB w/ . Because Bovada's tables are anonymous, we don't have a scouting report, and it's early in the match. Opponent sat full. We won a biggish pot after shoving a river and having opponent fold. He did not top-off. He then won a medium pot after calling pre with Th5h and then check/called on a Ad Kd 4c flop, checking the turn, spiking a pair on the river and checking down for the win. This is all to say, our read to this point is that villain is incompetent/bad. His standard opening pre has been 4x. This is our first 3bet.Pre-flop:Button raises to $24, Hero re-raises to $78, Button callsFlop ($156): Hero bets $40, Button callsTurn ($236): Hero bets $65, Button callsRiver ($366): :6cHero checks, Button goes all-in for $297, Hero calls
BaseJester 1
I think you begged him to bluff the river. I'm OK with the line.
trystero 0
he's not polarized. i can see him doing this with a queen and even a hand like 99. even still with that price you have to call since every single draw except 97 missed. plus when you bet $65 on the turn you're basically asking him to try and steal this on the river. short of hitting a hand you honestly couldn't have asked for a better turn and river. bat 0
I bet he would have overplayed J10 off giving his history. Like Jean-Robert Bellande once said ''I'm just a donkey and you can't bluff a donkey''.
donk4life 34
Unless the opponent is a soul reader and knows he can get thin value, he is never jamming j10 there. Given you played it I think it's a fairly easy call.
bat 0
Unless the opponent is a soul reader and knows he can get thin value, he is never jamming j10 there. Given you played it I think it's a fairly easy call. With a description of him being incompentent/bad, I assume he has no idea what a thin value bet is, so I'm thinking he's overplaying his marginal board hit. He probably got anxious and thought something like ''hey, I have two pair here now!''. That or he could have missed his flush draw.... alot of inadequate players love to shove on missed draws with decent board texture to try and recover their losses on earlier streets and put their opponent on the decision. Especially over aggressive poor players! So I would say its a 50/50 call.I wouldn't think he had pocket pair since he didnt four bet for once. And I doubt he would have AQ, KQ or any Q for that matter as that would probably be in his higher range of 4 bets as well.
CobaltBlue 662
You guys have kind of figured out some of my thinking on the hand. I really have sort of begged him to float and then bluff with my line. I anticipate him having a missed draw, air, trips, top pair, and middle pair in roughly that order of frequency. He could've backed into trips somehow, but I'm not considering that very likely. He almost never can have a set or straight. It's possible he shoves a queen some of the time, but I think he'd be content to check a lot of them behind. If he has a ten, I think it'd be really random and stupid for him to shove it. The only other possibility would be him spazz-bluffing a pair, but I considered that somewhat unlikely.I thought through all of this for a moment before calling. He had Jc5c, and I took the pot.Chalk another one up for root beer.
