Balloon guy 158
Hey Balloon guy, see what happens when you're only posting a handful of times every single day? People forget you. I'm going to prescribe a 20 post per day minimum at least until the new year combined with a new thread at least once a week. If this isn't effective, we'll work on a new strategy on keeping you in the limelight.K

KingJames 11
I follow almost all of the confirmed players on twitter. I would be able to use their tweets to exploit them.Plz to be considered. Also, please ignore my lifetime negative rio in MTTs, it's purely run bad and I'm prepared to crush this tournament.
Mr. Sparco 2
Offering 3 stakes to this million dollar buyin tourney next year. I reserve the right to take as many or few horses as I desire. The probability of you secretly being a millionaire or unexpectedly becoming one within the next year must be something like one in a million. Can't resist a $1 +EV spot, so I apply! fleung22 1
While I don't know if Mandarin speakers are traveling from elsewhere in China, Cantonese is the more widely spoken dialect in that region. If you mean in Macau, then yes the common language is Cantonese. But China is Mandarin and if you had to learn one then you'd choose Mandarin since the Chinese players fueling the big game are speaking Mandarin for sure.

Jam-Fly 8
just reading an article there, and yeah it is Mandarin that Trickett is learning. Cantonese is mainly spoken in Macau (and Portuguese funnily enough I think!) but as ye've already mentioned, the players would not be Macau natives and therefore speak Mandarin. Jam-Fly 8
I've been out of the scene. Will you share what happened to Phil?black friday, Full tilt, divorce etc. That's the gist, I'm sure someone else could explain in much more detail.I think that was said more in jest though. He has $15mil in debt according to his divorce proceedings, but I think (again, could be wrong, there's so much about black friday/ivey/scandal/poker going down the tube etc that I've just started glancing over stories now) that means more that he owes $15m, it's not that he has -$15m in his bank account. I assume if he wanted to play this event, he could (but he might not due to boycotting WSOP etc).Again, take all this with a pinch of salt, not 100% up to date on the accurate facts

HangukMiguk 8
out of interest, any idea if Chan speaks Mandarin? I know Sam Trickett has begun taking lessons to learn so he can take part in the 'banter' and hopefully become a bit more accepted and be a regular on the invite list.Chan was born in southern China to mainland parents. I would be willing to bet he's fluent in Mandarin.Cobalt's also correct that Macau is Cantonese speaking. But Chan lived in Hong Kong for a time, so I'd bet he'd know Cantonese. Actually I just read that the province Chan was born in mainly speaks Cantonese, so he's probably fluent in it at least. And actually, the learning curve between between the two isn't too sharp, with a decent amount of shared vocabulary, and the same grammar structure. There's still learning to be done, but it's certainly easier to learn one after learning the other.
