PocketThe word appears in Middle English as pocket, and is taken from a Norman diminutive of Old French poke, pouque, modern poche, cf. pouch. The form "poke" is now only used dialectically, or in such proverbial sayings as "a pig in a poke".

Are you sound proofing the walls as well? if it was me would do this so it could double as a music room to let loose in.

No I'm not doing that, I considered but I really didn't want to rip down all walls & ceiling for it. I turned it up to listening levels and it's hardly noticeable on the 2nd floor bedrooms, especially if I turn down the sub if my kids sleeping. I'll acoustically treat the room for excessive bass & probably reflections off walls but that's about it. Also, I think if there was a fire when I'm in my office and I couldn't holler upstairs, life would suck.

Being the site admin of this place I can see how that would be a reasonable concern.

What's the reasoning behind having the track lighting face the screen? I would think you would want it tilted away so the room is lit without causing glare. Unless you just tilted the lights that way for the picture.

It's just to light up the screen itself when nothing is playing. Wall sconces in the back (on a dimmer) will be used for main lighting as needed. These are the sconces:sconces.jpg

Time to start turning this in to a bat cave. My wife must be getting anxious to see it done since she decided to lend a hand today and paint the front wall. Since my screen is transparent everything behind it has to be flat black.blackwallg.jpgbackwall2.jpg

Why do you have floor molding behind the screen? Shouldn't that go to black too?

We have a dark dark brown colour for ceiling, trim & doors. It will get painted but ultimately doesn't matter behind the screen much because the screen will be about 30" up from the bottom, so it won't be visible or reflective. This weekend we should be making big progress, going to build the screen, rack shelving and maybe start some painting. Hopefully Sunday I can mount the projector after testing distance & placement.

Have you picked out the first movie you plan on watching once this project is finished?
Not exactly, depends who I'll be watching it with. I think I'd pop in Heat myself but if the kiddo is around (which he probably will be) then it'll be Cars 2. Santa is bringing LOTR EE blu-ray, so that's what I'm looking forward to the most. An 11 hour marathon when I get a weekend to myself. I think a lot of my DVDs are going to be getting upgraded.
