flintsword 4
With Full Tilt toast I transferred over to PartyPoker to try and qualify into another World Poker Tour event. I played a $1.60 rebuy sub-qualifier on PartyPoker beating out 42 players to win first, an $88 entry fee to the next level of sub-qualifier. I win the $88 sub-qualifier (30 players) to bag the qualifier $800 entry fee that just finished a few hours ago. The $800 WPT Paris Grand Prix Qualifier had 49 players and I managed to come in second, winning one of two $15,000 WPT spots in Paris this September .I will be trying to improve on my 50% showing in the WPT Cyprus Merit 2009.Many thanks to all of the posters on FullContactPoker.com ... the main reason I have been improving is the information I glean from reading the good posts on this forum.Total cost to get this package? Basically free so I will truly be a "free man in Paris". I'll send updates if I am threatened enough ...

Sounds like the cash might be better based on your apparent bankroll... $1.60 buyin, etc. No offense.
flintsword 4
Do they buy you in automatically, or can you take the cash? Sounds like the cash might be better based on your apparent bankroll... $1.60 buyin, etc. No offense. In 2005 I qualified for this same tournament and the French government passed some sort of weird regulation banning online entries, so Full Tilt gave me the $16,000 cash [this year it is $15,000].No offense re bankroll. If you check my Full Tilt tournament history you will see I am up a lot so my bankroll is not an issue. I do have some very strict cash management rules and I always qualify into tournaments. Just a personal choice and I argue about that with friends all the time. I actually *like* qualifying in.My cash game stats are all to hell because I am learning to play PLO $1/$2 ... c'est la vie.2005: Qualified into WPT Paris via Full Tilt: Paid cash $16,000.2009: Qualified into WPT Cyprus via Full Tilt: Played in tournament scored roughly 50%2011: Qualified into WPT Paris via PartyPoker: "Improvement "I'll play ... no question. flintsword 4
Wow nice score! Forget that nitty br advice, thats like a dream trip. Gl at the tourney! Many thanks .I had the time of my life when I played in the WPT in Cyprus two years ago. There is no way I am passing the WPT Paris up.I do want to improve my result this time. In Cyprus I made it to Day 2 but this time I am going to play a little more actively. I was way too shut down in Cyprus. Having Antonio Esfandiari on my right all Day 1 in Cyprus was not a lot of fun but I have had a lot of time to think about that situation and feel I can handle that kind of action better. I had better be fluent [i am fluent in French despite coming to Canada when I was a month old]Soooo ... ... loose translation "Plie tes cartes espece de bestiole" = Fold your cards you weasel <=== saving this one for Antonio Esfandiari who bounced me out in Day 2 of the WPT Cyprus in 2009.Just kidding of course, I am too polite to do that at the table but check-raising him out of his shoes with the nuts is a better idea.BTW, is Daniel Negreanu playing in this World Poker Tour event? Pot Odds RAC 23
I was all prepared to come in here and make some sort of Douchey "Who the Hell is Flintsworld?" comment. But instead after reading your posts I am totally on the Flintsworld Bandwagon. Even if you do tend to overuse the emoticons a bit. Congrats on a very cool opportunity and I'll be trying to figure out who you are IRL so I can rail you from afar. Best of luck & enjoy Paris. Great town.

flintsword 4
Congrats man..Hope you win it all..Paris is a fun city..Dont get carried away and keep your eye on the prize. Thanks serge, I travel a lot in my work, visiting Paris a few times a year, so the city will not distract me (too much ).Rest assured my eye *will* be on the Final Table and the prize ... and to do that I have to play my best poker or the pros will hand me my head and ass on a platter to the rail, I am quite sure.At the WPT event in Cyprus on Day 2 I had Allen Cunningham at my table as well as Antonio Esfandiari and Rep Porter (He picked up a 2011 WSOP bracelet) so to say these tables are tough is not an understatement. That said, I get two cards just like they do so it really is up to me to step up and play. Thanks for the post of support, I appreciate it. I am addicted to emoticons but have toned it down a lot since my WPT Cyprus FCP posts. You are right, you know ... "Who the hell is flintsword?" is a totally valid comment I have very good friends who are excellent (read better than me ... ) poker players who in good fun give me a perpetually hard time about my poker skillz. One good friend (I sometimes wonder ...) sent me a small bale of hay by FEDEX for Christmas ... an oblique reference to what donkeys eat I guess .With friends like that ... ha ha ... but hey, I do the best I can and will play my best.PokerNews did a piece on me in Cyprus with a photo ... Governator 54
Very nice Yves, best of luck! Turning a buck in to $500K would be quite the story, not that a trip to Paris isn't already.
flintsword 4
Very nice Yves, best of luck! Turning a buck in to $500K would be quite the story, not that a trip to Paris isn't already.Thank you. Yes, turning a buck into half a million would be quite a story but the reality remains that there is a swamp full of reptiles still to swim across.I am under no illusions as an amateur player going into another WPT event ... there is little "give" with the pros in these events. They are all out for blood ... mine in particular as the designated amateur/luckbox/fish in their playing environment. The trip to Paris, playing with these great players, and even just playing in the Aviation Club ... I am really looking forward to it and yes, I am going to be playing my best.

Jam-Fly 8
Very nice! Well done and enjoy it. and lol at take the cash. I'd bet anyone playing $1.60 sats is not playing these as their exclusive game! When u say u scored 50% in Cyprus, what do u mean by that?
