oh no, I meant, require ID to vote. not require everyone to vote. sorry, my bad.
Oops. Yeah, that was my fault. The ID card wouldn't have to be a separate national card. It could just be an add-on to your driver's license or state ID card.

What's the difference between a particular gene sequence in an abstract sense and a particular gene sequence that exists within a cell? Can you explain the difference in a way that doesn't boil down

This is pretty funny. The problem isn't the itty bitty details. The problem is Romney refuses to say if he's going to play Poker or Go Fish with the cards, and is on record as saying he doesn't know

I see.   I'd rather give the poor tax breaks than give them welfare. As a general rule. Let them keep their money to live on rather than take their money and then provide for them.

i think that once the government identifies who is a legal citizen, that citizen should be tattooed (free of charge of course) with a unique identification number. i think the forearm would be a good place. it would be easy to do on babies going forward too. this would eliminate the need for useless id cards, that can be lost, stolen or even faked.

The difference is that none of these things are rights that are guaranteed by our democracy (except for the kids in school part).I mean, it's a bit of a thorny issue. I agree that it doesn't seem like too much of a burden to demand ID for voting. But it's a fact that this will have the effect of preventing many from voting (mainly the poor and elderly). The only thing I wonder is why these laws only seem to come up in the months before an election. Why can't we make such a law right after an election and give people years to comply, or grandfather it in or something? The reason that people are against them is because election fraud isn't that much of an issue, and forcing people to use ID's would take away more people's ability to vote than the number of frauds it would prevent, and it's not very close, really.
what is this based on?

I'd be okay with that, but pass it just after an election, not right before one so people have to scramble.
Like they have to to register to vote?

Forehead or back of the hand would be my preference.

All poor people have satellite tvs and cell phones is stupider, promise. I wish a FL ID was that cheap. Also, it still smells like a poll tax to me.Zealous, save the ridiculous alinsky talking points for Fox News. I, like most people, had never heard of him until he became the new fox bogey monster. Acting like the GOP has never had any ends justify the means ppl is sad.
this is great...smells like a poll tax - coming from a person who has never seen a $ that should be taxed. i assume they would be free based on proper identification...assuming all voters have that. i can't imagine why any reasonable honest citizen would be against this.
Introduce a National ID card and there will be lots of people living in compounds in Montana who might not be very happy.
i don't believe you have to get one, only if you want to vote...because it would be the same for everyone, everyone competes on the same rules - damn there is an idea.

True story: You just walk in, and tell the person your name. They look it up on the list, and then cross you off. If you go late in the day, you can just read the names off the list and go tell whoever to say that name and then vote. There is no ID check, and no voter card check. It's absolutely ridiculous.
That seems insane. Pretty sure you need to have some kind of ID in Canadia, but I'm too lazy to check.Seems like a lot if ideas in this thread, like an optional free voter ID card, would be a much better solution than the current "nothing."

That's a good idea, but you can't really see it from afar. Maybe if people also had to wear some sort of band around their arm, that would really help us out.

Alinsky is very well known in every activist group of the left, for you to pretend that this is a bogey monster created by Fox is ridiculous. BTW I haven't watched longer than 5 minutes of Fox News in the the last 5 years. Barack Obama, and every single person in his administration is very, very well schooled in Alinsky.
Oh.

I'm assuming the word "not" was supposed to be between should and be in the first line?

voting.JPGworks well at keeping those pesky poor people away from the polls, since our IDs cost a lot more than $6.

Tou cant be serious. Behind the ear would be much less conspicuous.
It was a biblical reference.
Thank you for your fine contribution and understanding of the conversation going on.

You go to the front window, ask for one.The person at the window says "No, GET OUT OF HERE"If you say " Sorry heh." You get one.if you say: "Hey, I am a Canadian citizen and its my right. I'm going to get a lawyer and sue you." They know you are really from America

I was actually talking about the theoretical American card, but I like what you did there.
To get the American card you do the following:You pick a window; Republican or DemcoratAt the Republican window they ask you for a birth certificate. If you don't have one you have to go get one.At the Democrat window they ask if you are a going to vote democrat. If you are you are an American citizen.

Thank you Biden, for helping the republicans in any way you can
Vice President Joe Biden addressed 87 wealthy Democrats last night attending a fundraiser at the home of Sen. John Kerry in Georgetown. As they dined on grass-fed New York strip steaks and white truffle mashed potatos underneath a outdoor tent, Biden criticized Republicans for being out of touch.“These guys don’t have a sense of the average folks out there,” Biden said according to the pool report, “They don’t know what it means to be middle class.”87 guests paid a minimum of $10,000-per-couple to attend the dinner.

Now I get why the entire fellowship agreed to get blindfolded, after the elves were gonna blindfold only the dwarf.
