Us Online Poker Regulation Since Black Friday Thread

Recommended Posts

I wasn't referring to uncooper at all, I should of made it clear, he was just asking for clarification. It was the "where does she get anything" comment I took exception to, silly me.
That had to do with all your opinions previously, that are just opinions. That, and mostly you giving actual odds of something, based on personal opinion, and then saying 1.7:1 is less than 50%You're quickly becoming the next Rose.Passing on actual information is fine. But when you start giving commentary, it goes off the tracks. If i'm the troll for saying so, fine, no big deal.

Well damn did I miss something in the FCP rules that says one can't give express their opinions on discussions, I'm pretty sure I didn't but I should of realized that since the US is no longer a free country anymore I should of known freedom of speech was out too. You don't like what I say, don't read it - other than that back the **** off and get your head out of your ass - I'm entitled to my opinion and until Bob bans me I'm entitled to express those opinions. As I said most of those opinions are based on things I actually know something about, otherwise I state that it's just my opinion.I will say since Fair Play USA is gaining strength I think our chances were improving above 50% but with this latest FTP BS I'm not sure what I think at this point.Oh I'm well aware most people on this forum probably don't give a damn what I think or what I know, but oh well like you they don't have read a word I say. Of course it would be nice if they at least read the pro legislation actions and did something with them, like signing this poker petition: https://wwws.whitehouse.gov/petitions#!...-poker/KZ2KB7c1

Same goes for me.And the issue with the <50% thing isn't the claim itself, it's that your math is wrong, and it's annoying.

Whatever, I don't claim to be an odds or math expert by any means but 1.7:1 is about a 37% chance of catching so that is less than 50% chance but I suck at math so maybe I'm wrong but that's not what this thread is about and you are obviously easily annoyed over trivial things. Sorry to ruffle your sensitive feathers. If you'd like to educate me on my mistake please do so. :-) Now to get this thread back on track where it belongs, would everyone please sign the poker petition at the link above. Honestly all I care about is people in the US being able to play poker online again with proper legislation and without the worry of another Black Friday or another Full Tilt fiasco. As I live in GA I doubt I'll be able to enjoy the privilege myself but I want everyone else to have the right. Thanks.

Well said Lisa, Keep the updates coming. this is a good site always was and hopefully will continue that way. There will always be trolls but like bricker said just ignore it. I wish Daniel, being his site would get this forum back on track. Go back to doing hand history discussions and talk about the game. Can't find that thread to bump Bob, the one Daniel started a few years ago and gave us hands to dissect and discuss. Also to promote anything that will bring back on line poker to you all in the States. Not Just doing his blogs but spending just a touch more time with the ones who really care and follow this site. As for Kurt,, Yes I maybe a troll but poker is a social aspect part of my life, I love the game and have a passion for it without becoming a pro. I miss playing with a lot of my US friends, it's really not the same. No one here is perfect but we are all entitled to our opinions even if they are backwards. We have a common ground of liking or loving poker, it's simple. I have met friends through here that I will always cherish and keep and to me that matters. Heading to play the classic tomorrow at Seneca, wish me luck lol

too bad daniel doesn't really give a rats ass about 1. FCP or 2. online poker. he could sway some people.
1. possibly2. Maybe you haven't read the blog or the twitter updates for a few years, but he obviously does care about online poker.

It's going to be an interesting to see how this all plays out.By the time everything works it's way through the courts the hope is that there will be some sort of Federal legislation and regulation in place. If nothing has changed and the courts rule that providing internet poker from off shore to Americans isn't illegal it should be a catalyst to bring about that regulation.

I think (note: just my opinion) that these two winning their argument and a ruling that the UIGEA nor any other existing laws (1961 Wire Act, state gambling laws etc.) do not apply to poker, since it's a game of skill with only a small element of chance, would be the best thing for poker since Chris Moneymaker's WSOP win. It would basically put the ball in our court regarding legislation and regulation. Sites like PokerStars would hopefully be able to get a US license and regulation would be much less invasive since the government looses some bargaining chips. States would also have a much harder time blocking online poker. Okay that's what would happen in a dream world! Unfortunately who knows how this will turn out, after-all it's extremely hard to beat the DOJ and SDNY has a 90 something percent win rate. I heard someone say they thought these papers looked like these guy's attempt to end up copping a plea. Also this will take forever and hopefully we can actually get legislation before this gets anywhere near a hearing (or w/e). I think we would all love for poker to be officially declared a game of skill once and for all and have a high court rule that the UIGEA and Wire Act do not apply. The problem I see is if this happens is, not only will some legislators be scrambling to get a regulation bill through and the B&Ms will be pushing hard to keep sites like PokerStars out of the US, the anti-gambling groups like Focus on the Family will come out in full force trying to new bills passed that make poker illegal. On the good side while the silly U.S. government is battling with each other we would have "legal" online poker back and it would be hard to stop it.I'm curious does Canada have any regulations on online gambling and how does the licensing work?

the tournaments here suck big time Lisa, the OLG ( Ontario Lottery Gaming Commission) rulings and both provincial and Federal laws are tough ones. When Fallsview ran the WPT tournaments there was too much red tape and bureaucratic bull shit to go through. Same with the Casinos here the payouts suck, that's why we go US side to play. Gruven might be able to shred more light into this since he is a Canadian Tournament director. I tried to talk to Niagara and Fallsview a few times about there tournaments and now given up as there are like 20 of us who just cross the border in the Falls and play at Seneca. The same thing they now moved the Fallsview Classic to January at the same time as the PCA so the only big name they get is Gavin Smith, it's a shame wish they move it back to October when the weather is nicer. the casino payouts here are terrible compared to the US casinos. I love the payouts much better state side. I went to see Styx on Saturday and we went to Seneca and gambled there for 5 hours, had dinner and crossed the bridge to go to Fallsview for the show, 30 minutes before it. We played a few hours at Fallsview and the payouts on the machines are just terrible. There is one ladies tournament NLHE at Brantford run twice a month $60 buyin limited to 80. It's not bad but structure is fast and not that great. Poker schedule at Brantfordhttps://www.olgpoker.com/calendar/index.cfm?CasinoID=1Seneca has much better daily tournaments different buyins each night. I like the Wednesday or Thursday night, been playing the Thursday night a lot more frequent and bubbled it last week. Thurs 2 weeks ago had 168 runners paying 19. Last week 112 paying 10. http://www.senecapoker.com/niagarafalls/schedule.phpNiagara Falls Poker Room | Daily Schedule• • • Tournament Structure Sheets: Click Here to Download as PDF • • • Schedule Updated: Monday, September 19, 2011MONDAY @ 10AM & 7PM (NO-LIMIT TEXAS HOLD-EM)Not eligible for Monday Fun Day Promotions$500.00 added to the Prize Pool. Well here I go with my positive attitude "the cup is 1/2 full" attitude but the "Reid killed online poker's chances" article sounds like one's guy opinion, possibly valid opinion but still opinion. I posted the link in the legislation discussion skype chatroom and I'd love to know what Subject: Poker's take on it is. I'll let you all know if I hear other opinions.
