Recommended Posts

The WPT Championship with a $25K buyin begins today at The Bellagio and Daniel is playing.I'm not sure how many players this event will get this year after Black Friday but it should be a very tough field.Daniel will be sending updates via Twitter and the WPT website also has updates.Good Luck Danielhttp://www.fullcontactpoker.com/daniel-negreanu/twitter.phphttp://www.worldpokertour.com/Live_Updates/Live.aspxDaniel's Twitter Updates14 May 2011, 2:23 pmRealKidPoker: My table in the 25k Carlos Mortensen Shannon Shorr Jason Somerville so far. I'm in between Carlos and Shannon. http://t.co/12Yrnlo14 May 2011, 3:49 pmRealKidPoker: 93k after lvl 1 #WPTChamp started with 100k. Silly structure. @SavagePoker and WSOP are the only events in the world that get it right.14 May 2011, 4:26 pmRealKidPoker: Simple structure fix for #WPTChamp would be to take out the 100-200 level and add the 250-500 level. That would be logical so its a no go.14 May 2011, 4:59 pmRealKidPoker: Two new additions to the table @TexDolly and Dwight Pilgram #WPTChamp http://t.co/7GCvB1J14 May 2011, 5:38 pmRealKidPoker: 100,325 end level 2 #WPTChamp blinds going to 150-300. When will we learn15 May 2011, 2:35 pmRealKidPoker: Bellagio/WPT should absolutely not allow this person in the event. He was caught red handed cheating and should be banned. This is absurd.15 May 2011, 2:46 pmRealKidPoker: @VanessaSelbst they have the right to refuse ANYONE entry. Bernard Lee Folds Kings Full to Tony GarganoLevel 5: 300-600, 75 anteThe pre-river action in this hand comes courtesy of Christian Harder, who is seated at the same table. Tony Gargano raises preflop from UTG+1, and Bernard Lee calls right behind him. The flop comes Kheart8club8spade, Gargano bets, Lee raises, and Gargano calls. The turn card is the 9diamond, Gargano bets, and Lee calls. The river card is the Adiamond, and Gargano moves all in for about 100,000. Lee has about 66,000 left, and goes into the tank.Lee says, "If you have quad eights, that ace is the worst card in the world for you. If you have aces, then you're the luckiest guy in the world." Bernard Lee folds KdiamondKspade face up -- kings full of eights. Tony Gargano takes the pot.Tony Gargano - 160,000Bernard Lee - 66,000

Day 1 Ends With Christian Harder LeadingLevel 5: 300-600, 75 anteThe first day of the WPT World Championship is in the books and, for most of the 188 players who signed up so far, the hopes of picking up a seven-figure prize and the most prestigious WPT title are still alive with around 180 players surviving to return for Day 2 on Sunday. The player at the top of the counts is someone who has had success in this tournament before. Chip leader Christian Harder finished fourth in the WPT World Championship in Season VII and he is currently the player to beat, bagging and tagging 249,975. There is still a whole lot of play left in this event though and registration doesn't even close until midway thru play tomorrow. Reigning WPT World Champion David Williams popped in to scope out the field, but he is one of a number of players planning to wait until Day 2 to sign up.The top of the chip coutns are tightly packed together. Here are the top five unofficial chip counts headed into Day 2:1. Christian Harder - 249,9752. Ali Eslami - 240,4753. Kyle Julius - 237,6754. Justin Young - 234,5755. Bernard Lee Folds Kings Full to Tony GarganoShortly thereafter, Gargano admitted to having 8-8 for flopped quads, and said he felt a bit cheated since he couldn't get paid off by a full house.

Daniel Negreanu Busts a Playerhttp://www.fullcontactpoker.com/poker-foru...-emo-button.pngLevel 6: 400-800, 100 anteWith the board showing 10 :jh 9 :D 9 :4h 8 :5c on the turn and about 14,000 already in the pot, Daniel Negreanu thinks for more than a minute from middle position before betting 40,000 -- enough to cover his opponent's remaining stack of 32,000.His opponent tanks for a while before he calls from the button with J :club: 10 :ts (two pair with an open-ended straight draw). Negreanu turns over 7 :3h 6 :qh for a ten-high straight with an open-ended straight flush draw. The river card is the Jdiamond, and Negreanu wins the pot with a jack-high straight to eliminate his opponent.Daniel Negreanu - 165,000After the hand, Ali Eslami asks Negreanu how many chips he has. Negreanu says, "How many chips?" Negreanu breaks down his chips in stacks of 20, ignoring the different denominations, and proudly proclaims, "I have 79."Somebody tells Negreanu that he's counting incorrectly, and Eslami says Negreanu must have more than that. Negreanu counts again, and says, "I swear to you that I have 79 chips. Do you want to bet?"After a little more back-and-forth, Eslami finally realizes that Negreanu is counting how many physical chips he has, rather than their value in the tournament. Negreanu laughs and says, "I can't believe you fell for that."

It does sound like he was actually cheating with all the things players have said...but the only thing in the guys defense....why did they wait until play was over before the final table to DQ him? Did the evidence surface later? They should have dq'ed him on the spot when he was caught.
