Bodog Poker Grows 21% Real Money Players Saturday

Recommended Posts

The Wall Street Journal just published an article discussing the recent black friday and reported that still us friendly bodog poker out of canada has grown 21% in real money players stemming from site traffic scouter pokerscout.com compared to last Saturday.Looking at Bodog it appears that their cash game traffic and tournament traffic is pretty much inline with the likes of CEREUS and Party atm and growing. A lot of affiliate related poker websites are really pushing carbon poker (the flagship brand on the merge network) as the next best option for us players. The head Carbon poker affiliate manager is openly marketing Carbon Poker's committment to remain open to us players.

I spoke with a rep at Carbon last night and I was assure US players money is safe and we are very welcomed. I played there some today but found it rather boring and slow. Hopefully as the volume increases the games will improve. I noticed the number of players hit over 9K this evening which is a couple of thousand more than normal. Bodog seems to have 45 and 27 man sngs and some interesting looking sngs but again no chance of playing 6 to 10 tables at the time like on Stars.

well its still early, but im sure bodog's traffic will continue to grow, as its being pushed alot by many top online poker info portals. Carbon Poker also apparently has seen a 15% rise in traffic. With rises, come improved games. The other speculated network that was thought might grow has only seen a 1% increase this weekend. I guess we'll see how this plays out.

Despite occasionally wishing this was different, I think that's actually a good thing. I remember back in the day when they topped out at 3. Being able to play 4 seems more reasonable...and also serves to mostly keep out volume grinders.

I have several webmaster friends that are reporting a continued increase in sign ups at bodog poker. At this point, its appearing that bodog may well move into being the real money cash game market leader fairly fast. I'll be interested to see if they start stacking up on there guaranteed tournament offerings.I think this is a good sign as long as bodog can stay strong in the US. I've recieved an affiliate manager email boasting confidence in standing strong but i guess time will tell. They've always been a solid brand and many believe they're the top rated online sportsbook on a mainstream level in the world. They have about 3.5 million customers across the brand.

The bolded is so far from true that I'm thinking you may just be here shilling. They are an okay sportsbook but there are many many worldwide who are better in whatever way you want to judge a site. There's a pretty good chance that Bodog becomes the largest poker site that still accepts Americans in the short term.

agree with you Bob. I've always heard their sportsbook is average at best but I think it fucking sucks.

I actually don't know from experience about the sportsbook, I've just heard several people say that and i took their word for it. In any case, they have a very large customer base of sports and horse bettors. Also, sportsbookreview which i assumed was actually a reputable sports betting portal gives bodog a very high rating. I'm not sure if its all about the software, its more likely the limits and support and such for above average bettors...

Their sportsbook is like I said okay. When you compare it worldwide to sites like Pinnacle it isn't as good. There are a lot of US facing sportsbooks that nobody should trust their money with, Bodog isn't one of those.I think Bodog might be expecting that they're going to lose their .com website at some point since my understanding is that they're preparing their .eu site to take over just in case.

maybe I'm the only one thinking that I would rather just wait and not play then start signing up at these smaller sites which if the DOJ is serious (and I think they just proved they are) will inevitably get shut down as well, faster than some might think. Personally I'm going to just take some time off, maybe visit the local casino from time to time, and hope either Stars and Tilt are able to come back from this (which I heard is doubtful) or wait for some sort of government regulated online poker. Both options suck, but I just don't know about Bodog and Carbon being good options at this point.

if you buy into the speculation that the recent actions of the doj were an act of "law based capitalism"... which in lamens terms, means that they strategically crippled the only brands that controlled the market so that in the near future big us casinos can actually compete quickly....then bodog is probably not going to lose their .comThey were already a bigger OVERALL online gambling brand in the US then Stars.Im talking real money online gamblers. A huge part of the player base at tilt, stars, ap is also freerollers and play money players. In the online casino arena, Us land casinos have nothing to compete with. However, online poker is unique. Especially when you think about the search engine dominance that the big 4 has when it comes to gaining all of the google and bing traffic for the most searched generic terms new prospect players use to play online for the first time. This type of search engine dominance takes years to achieve with google. And the big brands would up their search engine optimization efforts with US based poker rooms rising up.Also factor in affiliate programs. Perhaps US casinos aren't that interested in offerining the quality affiliate programs these sites offer. In that case, all of the info portals you see online would remain pushing the big non us casino brands to new players. Anyways, thats alot of speculation... But I think alot of it makes sense. If Bodog becomes a pretty large us facing site, they wont do so in a dominant way like Stars Tilt UB.

I'm just wondering....how exactly is Bodog processing payments from the U.S.? Why are they still able to have paying players from the U.S. if it's illegal? I'm American but moved to England in 2006 so I've missed all of the having to worry about this stuff.Careybear

Yeah, I for one am not jumping into the casino games + poker sites that now exist as "best option" status.I'm gonna contine to remain exceedingly jaded about the current state of affairs, and just deal with the fact that I will never again get to play my favorite game (limit omaha/8) except for in trips to the venetian for their game........except I had used online poker as a means to offset my neverending losses when i go to LV.....so basically, gg awesome, mentally stimulating hobby.I digress.

I feel your pain. My local casino is barely an option. It's 40 min roundtrip so with the price of gas, no way I'm making multiple trips a week. Games usually only run from 2 pm-2am, and since I work at a bar, those are my prime work hours. Game selection is basically 1/2 nl, or 2/5 nl. Sometimes they get an omaha game going, but its wayyyy above my limit. So I'm going to sit on the sidelines and hope regulation happens sometime in the next 5 years :club:

This is pretty much how I feel as well. This past March I participated in poker lobbying day in Olympia with the PPA. It was a group of about 30 poker players and a handful of PPA reps, poker pros, etc. and we basically went around and spoke to our local legislators telling them why we think making online poker illegal(it's a class c felony in washington) sucks. One thing I said to all the people I spoke to was if the government ever decides to ban golf then I'm fresh out of hobbies. Which of course led to chuckles and "oh that'll never happen" responses....so then I'd say I never thought poker would be banned either so you never know, which left them with nothing much beyond a blank stare. F'ing assholes

I'm one of the closer people to the Horseshoe here, it's still at least 40 min round trip, plus $7 round trip in tolls for the stupid Skyway. I can bypass it if I take the back roads, but that adds a bit of time to the trip. Still thinking about going a bit more often though.

yup. the shoe is a great room and all......but i really am not that great at NL, esp @ 1/2 level. The occasionally PLO game is cool.....but when the min is 1/2, which runs as a 500 buck buy essentially....again...out of my range. The idea that it will take 20 bucks in costs to just make it to a venue to continue enjoying a hobby that functioned seamlessly from my office.....and even then the games are far limited to those that are no conducive for me at all.again....i digress.

well if the DoJ will be busy assraping Tilt & Stars I say Bodog will be safe for at least a little while so I'll probably try it out. I'm too much of a fiend not to deposit anyway.
