2011 Nhl Playoffs!

God I hate watching Preds game when they are at home. Maybe they are better now but they tend to have the worst knowledge of the game and think anytime a Preds player falls down there should be a penalty. Go Vancouver.

The Preds fans are awesome. The entire lower bowl was standing for awesome amounts of time several times last game. Obviously their knowledge is going to be slightly below somewhere that's had hockey as a culture for 80 years. They're damn passionate though.

First playoffs since the Winter Classic started where neither participant in the game will be competing in the Stanley Cup Final.

More specifically I believe it's the first time when the visiting team won't lose in the Stanley Cup finals.

As am I...mostly because I don't like Vancouver very much. The hockey team, not the city. I'd love to visit the city sometime.
Acceptable.
I'm actually hoping for Nashville to beat Vancouver.
Semyon was Simeon a couple years ago. Dunno about the Semen part.==========I don't care if the Canucks win or lose. I also don't really care about the Preds. I tend to find myself subconsciously rooting for the underdogs in these spots, though.People at the bar were getting all over me for not immediately declaring the Canucks as my favorite team because they're the last Canadian team. Like wtf does that have to do with anything? Every team has Canadian players, why do I care that the team is based in Canada? Is all of Canada going to rejoice if the Canucks win or something? Am I going to be partying in the street like I did for the Olympics last year? **** no! I just don't get it.
Yes, it matters. They are based in Canada. That's where they play. They play the Canadian national anthem before games. Every team has players from everywhere. Well, except Atlanta, who only has black players. I don't personally know any of the players, so where they are from doesn't matter. If it came down to two teams, and Vancouver had no Canadians of interest, and the American team had half the Canadian Olympic team, I could see rooting for them. But that doesn't happen. I will root for Vancouver because they are the last Canadian team.

Buffalo plays the Canadian national anthem before every game as well...I expect your full support next season.

It took forever to get my ex to understand Icing. For-ev-er. Player advances the puck into the offensive zone over three or more of the five lines, the third of which being the goal line. I never understood why this was so difficult for her. :club:

Who cares? I don't know anyone in Vancouver... it's like 3000 (?) miles away from where I live. Why should I care that some sports team is Canadian? When the Oilers were in game 7 vs Carolina, I didn't really care. I would have been content with Edmonton winning, but also, if Carolina won, I knew the Cup would be coming to Thunder Bay.In 04, when it was Tampa/Calgary in Game 7, sure, I was content with Calgary, but if Tampa won, I won my hockey pool.If it's Vancouver vs Philly, sure, I'll gladly get behind Vancouver, but why do I have to like them just because they're Canadian? I like SJ and Boston as teams a lot more than I like Vancouver, so why do I have to cheer for Vancouver? Why are they being forced down my throat. This IS NOT a national pride thing, this is a REGIONAL sports team!

I think playing any national anthem before a game is stupid.
You've voiced that opinion quite frequently. I agree, but I still like that they do it.

With that explanation, no wonder she never understood. The way you explain it, the "goal line" is constantly changing, depending on which line the player advanced the puck from.

I give 3/4 support to Buffalo and Detroit because they're basically Canada for hockey purposes. Boston gets 1/2 support.

Cheering for a team because it means a player from your hometown will bring the cup there is a perfectly acceptable reason to cheer for a team also.As for the rest, I just disagree. I care about Canadian teams. I'd prefer them to win. If someone wins the Nobel prize, I think it is significantly cooler if it is a Canadian scientist than a Norwegian one.

What if the Norwegian person was actually born and raised in Canada and the Canadian guy lived in Florida all year??

Kesler got away with like 5 blatant penalties last night.3 were automatic, and I can only assume that the refs just missed them. a blatant elbow that broke jered smithson's nose, a high stick that cut Mike Fisher (He should have been in the box for the game winning goal that he scored), and a bear hug on tootoo in front of the net that prevented a scoring chance. Add the bogus call that awarded game 3 to the canucks, and the predators are really getting screwed in this series. The Canucks can't seem to score on Rinne unless it is gift wrapped, so this must be frustrating for the preds.I find it laughable that Mike Gillis had the nerve to complain about reffing in the Chicago series, as Vancouver always gets favourable reffing. It irks me more than it should that his whining actually accomplished the desired result.

I keep wondering if Kesler's father is also in NHL upper management.

Does anyone recall anything like this before? So many game 7s in the first round, and a potential for 4 series to end in 5 or less.
