NellaKreb 0
Well, I took over a week off from watching almost any online poker. The only poker I watched was PAD and HPT. I didn't even watch either of Isildur's Showdown matches against "urnotindangr" (Scott Palmer). I'm almost ashamed to say that, considering how much I covered their matches for the 2 months before it happened. Did anyone here watch the Showdown matches? Were they good?I think the problem for me was that it came too soon after the Daniel vs Isildur Showdowns, since I had been covering so much up until that point - all of Daniel's training, all of Isildur's sessions, plus whatever other interesting games were going on (like Phil Galfond and the other usual suspects in the big PLO games) and the long, random hours it takes to watch all that stuff - that I found myself just too exhausted when it came time for the Isildur/"dangr" duel weekend Showdown, just a week after the 2 week Daniel/Isildur match. I don't know what kind of ratings they had for the last Showdown or who could tell, but I think it was a mistake to have the two different Showdowns back to back (unless they were gonna have Isildur/"dangr" first, then Daniel/Isildur).Everyone probably knows the results of the Isildur/"dangr" match by now. But what you might not know is that Isildur dropped 100K at the tables the night before the first part of the 2 part session. His week between sessions wasn't very good either, nor has this week been for him since winning the 2nd round on Sunday. He's actually been playing most recently at stakes that I've never seen him at before - $.5/$1 NL, $1/$2 PLO, $2/$4 PLO, $3/$6 PLO (all were 6-max except for the $3/$6 which was 9-max). Be it contractual obligation to play at these levels or some other BR or BRM reasons, the only thing that has been easier for Isildur at these levels is that his losses have been smaller. But Isildur has also been playing more tourneys lately...Playing in the Sunday Million during rounds 1 & 2 of his Showdown with Scott and cashing in both (first for $315 during round 1, then for $479 this past Sunday). "But Nella... How do you know this if you didn't watch?" Homework! Last Tuesday (April 5th), he also played in the $1,050 Super Tuesday - placing 11th out of 367 and earning $5,505. But tonight he had his biggest online tourney cash since joining PokerStars...He played in a $109+R NLHE [25K Guaranteed]. With 201 entrants, 340 re-buys and 177 add-ons, the prize pool grew to $71,800. Starting at 8pm EST, he reached the FT after more than 6 hours of play, an hour later he was HU against a player from the U.S. called "THE__D__RY." An even back-'n-forth battle started going Isildur's way when he won a string of pots. The key pot was when "D__RY" min-raised from the button, Isildur called and the flop came Qc-3h-Qd, check - check, the turn was the 10c, Isildur bet $50,400 into the $67,200 pot and was called, Jc on the river, Isildur bet $126,000 and was called, Isildur showed up with the 4 6 of clubs to win the 420K pot. His opponent, left with just over 400K to Isildur's 1.2 mill, made a little rally to close the distance but pushed with 8 9 off from the button having only 300K left and was called by Isildur's A 10 off which held up.The tourney ended at 3:40am EST, lasting 7hrs 40min and Isildur earned $15,437 for the win. About 1/3 less than his WSOPE 2010 earnings, but a job well done!
