How To Play This Hand Hu Vs Kobe2odom In A Neg-o?

Recommended Posts

1what is a neg-o? and who is 2kobe2odom8? 3 rrumsey?
1) Negreanu Open, forum tourney every Wednesday2) a guy (we think) that idolizes Kobe Bryant (he plays for the Lakers) and Lamar Odom (he's a Laker). He likes when Kobe passes it to Odom and his favorite number is 8 which happens to be mine too.3) rrumsey acually means Rex Ran Under My Sexy Emerald Yacht. Strange but that's what he's in to.

Until this year the Neg-O was the most challenging $10 poker tourney in existense, played every Wednesday Night at 9:00 EST. In 2011, the game is not always $10, sometimes its $5, but still the case remains the same.kobe2odom8 is a Triple Draw and Stud specialist.rrumsey is a superfluous poster.

sorry that you lost your sense of humor in the "accident"
Shag, I'm gonna guess Kobe had something like K7 or K8 and bluffed your socks off.
BTW - kobe said he had Ks 8x.

I would have played with those cards, reaching the flop, calling or betting a little like you did on the flop, looking for the possibility of someone just calling my bet in order they to think i have something to show a little respect as I dont have position, but when he re-raised you, that means something. He probably had the flush too or set of A or Q (why not?) and he was trying to test your will.I would have called only the flop bet, after that, not anymore, after all, you're just putting in a little more money in order to be able to go all in against his stack and win. If there were the possibility of a full (a pair in the table, fold instantly if you dont have the flush!) but it was too much money to reach to the final...besides...if a 6 of spades came, you would have to fold too. He might have a full house with that play!.You will say, besides, he preflop with AA or QQ??? Probably...pair in hand, pair in table...A...dude...just fold!!! He had you covered all the way...In my only thread I comment I had a hand just like this. A9s hearts. Preflop Button Bet...I Call. Flop...two hearts...Button bets...I call...hearts comes out....BINGO!!!Only see one card...two...it will cost you!!!
Bingo!

easy fold PF. Why would you play OOP a hand that will be dominated most of the time. Even if you and he misses and the flop is A high you will be folding to his cbet. NEVER play crappy hands OOP!

seriously pre antes this is a fold for the most part. and seeing how a good player has the button against you i would think you are getting 3 bet a lot pre ( or even flatted). clearly you expected to call the 3 bet, but now whats the plan postflop? fly by the seat of our pants? c/r him on some boards? its just going to be a really hard postflop spot. so why get involved in this position pre antes? i mean i dont see why we are taking so much risk this early on.

Because I had a strong feeling that he would bully me around with complete air or do the same with a little something. I just did not have the balls to pull the trigger on him, and did not have a good enough game plan. It sucks when you know you are going to get beat up, and you are helpless. I was hoping someone would give me some pointers here on how to handle being bullied. Basically I have come to the assumption that you just stay out of the bully's way until you have an actual hand, then set the trap and let him bully you all the way to pay dirt. I hope I get into hands like this with him more in the future. The only way to get better is by experience.

A lot of poker has to do with picking your spots, and playing a mediocre hand oop against a better player in a 3bet pot is not a good spot.If you feel like he's going to be 3betting you a lot in posistion, then my advice would be to either:Tighten your opening range4bet him more oftenIf you are going to flat pre, then don't play the hand so passively. Just check/fold, check/raise, or bet/3bet shove. I don't see people check/calling their strong hands in 3bet pots very often, not unless they flop the nuts.
