Any threats to delay passage are nothing more than feints/posturing moves by those who will gain the most/least.This WILL happen...
Have you SEEN the way Democrats cave? With Karl Rove coming out against this yesterday, there's a good chance this doesn't make it....which is a good thing in my opinion. A 15 month blackout + states' ability to opt out makes this an undesirable bill.

https://twitter.com/#!/ftrainpokerI've re-tweeted 2 good blog posts by him. Def add him if you want good in-depth info the ongoing progress. He is a Attorney, writer and poker player and has provided great insight. If you read a lot of his tweets from the last few days he gos into details about a few parts of the bill as he sees it.Here is his Quick and Dirty Summary of (Version 2!) of Harry Reid's Internet Poker Bill from Tuesday on the newest draft.http://ftrain.blogspot.com/2010/12/quick-a...rsion-2-of.htmlI can't find it but the 20% tax is not on deposits. It's on the rake. 7% goes to US/7% to state you live in/6% to state the site is regulated/based in. I may have changed which group gets the 6% but same difference.A few key things from his tweets. If sites decide not to "turn off" US and to risk $1mm per day penalty, 50% fee and 5 yrs prison, they'll wind up on DOJ's UIGEA black list. The black list is list of sites that financial transaction providers are not allowed to do biz w/ under UIGEA. $ on/off becomes much harder. In current version of bill, NOBODY gets a license for 15 months. Period. Full stop.I hope this helps clarify a few things for everybody.

No federal legislation would ever happen without blackouts/optouts

I check that mammoth thread about every few hours on 2p2 and it changes from being 90% to pass to 90% to fail about every hour ... basically no one has any idea. I just want it to be over with

Twitter says it's still alive and there will be a press conference at 8pm. Maybe nobody knows what's going on.
That twitter account is a gimmick.

From 2+2:

Okay so. I just spoke for a while to one of the guys who has been feeding me stuff for a while. Gonna try and get what he told me in readable terms.Him: Put it this way, I really want this to pass.Me: Things are that bad?Him: The payment processors we're dealing with are getting shadier every time.Him: I don't think anyone in NVG/Legislation understands what'll happen when somebody like Cereus tells their players "Sorry, this is the tenth time we've lost a processor and we don't really feel like covering your withdrawals anymore, you're on your own".Him: In addition I don't think anyone realized what'll happen if one of the major site owners get indicted, which I think is a real possibility in the next 6-18 months if the bill doesn't pass.Me: Are we talking about Ivey, Lederer, Bloch, etc?Him: Possibly, anyone with more than 5% ownership is at more risk. The owner of FTP has a sportsbook conviction too. Me: What do you think will happen when that happens?Him: Run on the bank, at the very least.Him: Really, when people say the status quo is so great, I don't think they get what happens when one of the big sites is indicted and loses half of it's players overnight, and the others simply walk away. Or when a site stops payment on a check and doesn't honor it. So yes, we need this to pass.Me: I worry about that too. I worry some site will get 1mm+ confiscated again and just say screw it, we don't honor those checks.Him: I agree, and I don't give it that much time. So there ya go.Him: Every US site is facing this situation together. Just a matter of who has the most money in the next big ewallet or processor account that gets seized.

By Alexandra BerzonSenate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) hasn’t folded yet in his effort to make Internet poker legal, Reid spokesman Tom Brede tells Washington Wire.Mr. Brede said in an email that Mr. Reid is “still working on” passing the online poker bill. The email exchange came after the Las Vegas Sun reported earlier Wednesday that Mr. Reid said legalizing Internet poker was no longer an objective during the lame-duck session. Several other people lobbying for the bill said they believe Mr. Reid may still try to get it attached to must-pass legislation. “Until Congress adjourns I am not saying it’s dead,” said John Pappas, executive director of the Poker Players Alliance.
