Considering how badly he self destructed in the US Poker Championship, I have to respectlessly disagree. Kid had every other opponent covered if you added all their chips together (Ok, maybe not really, but you get the picture) at one point and still managed to come in 6th or 7th. He's a good player, and I have him on my Fantasy Roster, but DN is ahead of him in my rankings for very good reasons.

he collapsed becasue of bad luckhe ran into some hands in which he played fine, he tryed one bluffbut the huge hand was when he was down to 700k or so and Hoyt Corkins went allin from SB with 87o Dags called with TTboard: J777xDags played tat table fine, it just wasnt his day

does it ever get old seeing him lose it at the USPC though? I mean seriously, i can watch the same coverage a few times before it gets a little old, but his 10 10 vs corkins ....what 7 8 or 7 9 or something...i could watch that all day....hilarious!

not to mention the turning stonehe outplayed Phil Ivey straight up, he even had Ivey allin and ags had the better hand with his 77 againt Iveys A8, ivery flopped an 8 won the pot, and the momentum. You cannot base your entire thought on one tournament in whihc he had horrible luck

My point is that he could have sat back and only played high-percentage hands (Ala Negreanu at Borgata, who didn't see a flop for the first hour of the final table) and been in great shape for the final 5 or so, but instead he kept pushing and got himself crippled. Then acted like a total child, but that's neither here nor there. I get being frustrated, but splashing your entire stack of chips in the direction of an experienced player who just won them is extremely bad form.

How did he self destruct, he called an all in with about a 90% to win and lost. If he wins that hand he easily comes in 1st or 2nd.

yes but its still not necessarily a great play. Rarely will he be an 85% favorite with pocket 10s. It's most likely a coin flip, just like Dags had against Ivey with 77 vs A8, i'd hardly call that bad luck on Dags part, he was lucky to even play such a big pot having such a small edge on Ivey.

There's no doubt that he had several bad beats there (none as bad as his last hand, KK against QQ and JJ, both other players made trips on the flop) but my point is that he could have let up on the gas a little bit and stopped pushing the other players around so much. He should have known that his cards would stop holding out (variance always catches up, as an internet player he would know that) and stop firing on every street on seemingly every hand. I must not have picked up on Hoyt rubbing his nose in it, but even if he was pouring sugar in his gas tank while raping his mother you don't splash your chips all over the table. You know it, I know it, and he damn well knew it.

Granted a bit forcefully, but, sometimes you get what you asked for. Hoyt was still apologizing for the bad beat after the fact. It wasnt as big of a deal as everyone is making it out to be. Just because meathead Chad, and redneck Lon were criticising him, doesn't mean much.

I have to say I like Jon a lot. But I'm bias because Turning Stone is my home casino and he plays there quite a bit. However, I think Daniel is much more experienced. Jons a great player and hes very capable. Hes been making final tables quite often and he did great at the US Championship. I just think Daniel has an edge with experience. In a few years he should have the experience to match daniel pretty well but I'll always be cheering for danny.

I think D'agistino(sp?) handled himself pretty well after Hoyt's horrendous suckout. Having to pick up and restack the chips you just stole from another player is very minimal, I'm sure some players would have done a lot worse than just push over his chips. god, Hoyt Corkins makes me wanna puke........ "All in! All in! All in! All in! All in! All in! All in! All in! All in! All in!"

Yeah, one of John's friends posted on RGP regarding this right after it aired and he was taking a lot of heat about his actions. Supposedly, John was asked to count the chips first by Hoyt twice, then by the TD, so that added to his frustration. Most of it is edited out for TV, but if I recall the friend's version of things correctly, there was actually a considerable pause there while it was sorted out. That doesn't excuse his actions, but at least from my POV it makes them more understandable. Here's the post: http://groups-beta.google.com/group/rec.ga...abd05d54c06d329

If you're iowa's finest, we need to destroy the entire state.
I lived in Minnesota for 5 years... they've been advocating that exact thing for about a century now.

I agree he had terrible luck.......But from what I've seen when you're playing to Hoyt's left anything could be a high % hand. I mean can you really blame the all-in with 10-10?
