battleship events?
These were last yearsBattleships! - I think you are really going to love these. We have three major Battleship Events at the PCA this year...Battleship Main Event - We return the Battleship Main Event with a small tweak. Best of three every round! 64 players, $2,000 each, 8 places paid!!!Battleship Heads Up Challenge - You guys know our Battleship setup, 16 laptops in two rows of eight. Well, picture those in a group of 8 machines and 8 machines. We will take 64 players, splitting them into 4 groups of 16. Each group of 16 will split 8 and 8 and within your group of 8, you will play the other 7 players Heads Up...at the same time! Seven Heads Up matches at once, the two best records out of your group will advance to the Semi Finals. In case of a tie...personal win/loss splits the tie. For example, If you and I tie at 6 wins and 1 loss, and I beat you in the round of 7, I advance. In the Semi Finals (16 players), we split you 8 and 8 and the top 4 from either group will advance to a Finals grouping of 8 players. The Finals grouping all get paid. Can you take down 21 opponents over 3 rounds?!Battleship Multi - Multi Tabling Championships - For the players who think one table is not nearly enough...we give you this event. Actually, it's for the players who think five tables are not enough, nor are ten, or even fifteen. But for those of you who think twenty tables is just right...do I have the event for you. Your $2,000 buy in gets you registered into TWENTY MTT's starting at the same time . We will carve out a corner of the Atlantis Poker Room and set everyone who wants to enter up with their own ethernet cable and we will play you off in the same TWENTY MTT's at once. Your order of finish will get you points and the prize money will be paid out based on your point totals! You will be allowed to use our laptops (first 16) or your own laptop, but you MUST play in our designated tourney area of the Atlantis Poker Room to participate. Your very own private TWENTY Tournament Multi Table Experience!

Just in case anybody is thinking about going as vacation/rail/etc:Atlantis is a super nice resort, much like a Vegas resort, but also has Vegas-style pricing. If you are wanting to go on a budget, here is a cheaper way to go, in a good location (safe, nice area) about 10-15 mintues from Atlantis. Look for hotels in the Cable Beach section. The other casino in Nassau is called "Crystal Palace" (don't let the name fool you. Decent casino, but NOT Vegas strip) It is part of the Sheraton complex. Cable Beach Resort Area was built back in the 70's and Crystal Palace/Sheraton supposedly went thru remodel Fall 2009 (Was there twice Spring/Summer 2009, but have not been able to go back). Anyway, no Poker tables, but everything else. If you are a regular at your local Casino you can get your host or broker to get you setup down there. I was a regular $4k-$6k Casino player, and I got setup there with free flights, rooms and meals, so you do not have to be a super high roller for good comps. I think room rates are aobut $150-$200 per night, but don't quote me on that. I was comp'd (ohhh I miss those days). You can catch bus 16 (DO NOT TAKE 16a. Takes scenic route thru the ghettos) for $1.50 one-way that will take you to/from Nassau Harbor (Downtown for Tourists). From there you can take a taxi over the bridge to Paradise Island, catch the ferry ($8 round trip per person), or walk over the bridge and thru the shops to the Atlantis (About a 1 1/2 mile walk). All transportation runs during the day. After dark you have to take a taxi, which costs, if I remember, about $20-$25 bucks to take you direct from Atlantis back to Crystal Palace/Cable Beach. There are a few hotels there in Nassau Harbor area that are ok looking, but if you are wanting more of that "Just like Home" feeling (USA people), Cable Beach is the place. If you are a food nut, I highly suggest go to "Fish Fry" (every local knows what you are talking about". It is a strip of bars/eateries about 5 miles outside of Nassau Harbor. Go to Seafood Haven located in the middle of "Fish Fry". The grilled fish in a bag is killer. Prices are good (about $20-$25 per Person), but for local food it is outstanding. I don't care much for the Conch tho. Also, you can go to "Straw Market" (Big tent right there in Nassau Harbor) and pickup knock-off Rolex and TAGs for $40-$50 (cheapest price I've seen in the Carribean, but don't expect high quality. OK for daily use, but don't expect more than 6-12 months. Also, liquor is cheap there too, so you can always bring back 2 litres per person with no duties.Anyway, sorry for the long post, but thought it might help some people looking to go.

biggest problem with this is that it is in Nassau. Yuck. The service sucks at most places down there, even Atlantis. Very expensive. If you are a baller, then good for you I guess and I would totally go if I won a seat. but...Be great if they moved this thing to St. Barts or St. Lucia, or even Puerto Rico would be better.

Everything you say is true about it being expensive and the service not being great but I doubt there's another resort that's large enough for the event now. The PCA has become so big that they need an Atlantis sized place to hold it in. Plus the air links to Nassau are pretty good from a lot of different places in the World which isn't the case for all the Islands.
