dms26 3
I am a newb, but I have been reading this forum for 6 months or so. My only point is this--what are the odds of someone that comes on here, posts once and is never to be heard from again actually winning this thing? think everyone is getting prematurely worked up. I can almost gurantee someone that has been here a while and knows what they are doing will win. From the pages of the entries that I looked at....pretty good, IMO.Btw, I hate all you regulars!! (sw)at least I'm not one of you losers with 2000 posts.
JistTheFist 0
see the problem is now the cap has been reached, and members of the forum who have been around for a while can't enter now. iveyfan30, and rwood... these guys are both at least known around here and they can't enter cuz I'm sure some newb posted like 3 teams. DeNuts1 0
This is a load of crap! They gotta raise the limit. All these a holes coming outta the woodwork to enter. Now I'm screwed. This is BUNK!
jsull 0
well, I'm a newbie. I signed up about a month ago I guess, because I truly enjoy watching DN play, and saw that this was an active forum.I don't post much anywhere, and won't post much on hands and/or theory because I'm a little fish right now, and I do some stupid things at the poker table. I posted something over at 2+2 a couple weeks ago and the OP made me feel like I belong on the short bus because of what I posted, which made sense to me, but obviously not to him.I understand message board seniority BS, and it's usually pretty laughable. People will complain that the newbies that come in have nothing to contribute, but as soon as n00bs start posting, those with seniority get mad about whatever it is that they post.Anyway, I for one, plan on sticking around for a while. And while I might not have anything super meaningful to contribute for a while, I'm still going to be here.

dharris 0
I'm a newbie and I try to make sure that most of my posts are meaningful. One forum that I occasionally post on (www.marketingprofs.com) gives out points for valuable posts rather than tracking nominal post counts, which is kind of cool. I do not have time to post 100 times a week or anything like that. It am glad that some people do though, so that I can learn from other's mistakes and contirbute where I can. It is easy for me to see, however, how people that do spend that kind of time on here are somewhat protective and possessive of the forum (rightly or wrongly -- not for me to judge). It is a contest though, at least in part for promotional purposes. So, I guess the hit and runners are just a reality. It sucks, but nothing you can do even if they are jopkes.Devo

It's all about learning, and most people in that forum recognize that.
budfox427 0
I didn't realize that the cap had been hit. I will gladly relinquish my entry to any forum regular here that has been left out if it comes to that, since I have learned a ton from all of your posts and it has improved my game. Let me know. I'm not mad that new people are moving in, I'm just a little upset that a lot of the guys who have been around for a long time don't get a chance to enter because the field is already full...anyways, yes I agree the forum could use some new members, but I want new MEMBERS not new registered people just so they can play and then will never post again. AlTrade 0
I think you are a real jerk. It's people like you who are going to ruin poker. Where do you think the dead money comes from? If you want poker to grow and the pool of money to expand then you better embrace the newbies here and anywhere you can. I'm sure you wouldn't mind taking their (our) money!!!!! budfox427 0
I don't think he is a jerk. Look, when you are a member of any type of community, after a while you start to think of it as a home away from home, whether it be a chess club, a flag football team, an internet forum, whatever. I have played jazz music for 16 years, and I was a member of Branford Marsalis' forum for a long time, and it got shut down because new members got real out of line and he didn't want his name associated with it. I was crushed. So I can see how someone who has been here a while feels a sense of entitlement to at least be able to enter the fantasy pool over someone who happened to read about it, or heard about the $10k first prize and jumped on here. It is only logical.

In that case, we SHOULDN'T want newbs because then they'll be edumacated. There is no pool of money it's a freeroll.but you're right...i wouldn't mind taking your money.for the record, i think the newbs can join the contest and everything and it's fine...but LOGIN before you post so it doesn't say "Guest" or at least follow damn instructions and post your list and e-mail and try not to duplicate your posts you stupid monkeys. PMJackson21 0
I'm sorry but if this a way to increase traffic, I think we're just gonna turn it into another rgp.Too late. :-) As an RGPer, I find this all highly entertaining, especially considering the snide remarks/posts about RGP on here that I've read. If I had never read this forum before today, I wouldn't think very highly of it after reading the various threads dedicated to this topic. Like all public forums (RGP even more so since it is unmoderated), you are going to have a bunch of seemingly worthless discussions/arguments; that's just the way it is. The 'regulars' are entitled to their opinions and the 'newbies' are entitled to their own, but unless DN had made some sort of rule about your activity on the forum prior to the contest, there isn't much to be done about it. Ha, I saw a post on RGP a while back where someone (I'm too lazy to look it up, but I think it was Gary Carson) said something along the lines of 'At RGP we compare the size of our members, at 2+2 they compare the size of their IQs.' Heh, and it seems at FCP, you compare the size of your post counts. :-)I didn't enter the WSOP contest, but good luck to all those that did. Patrick

He truly will be missed by all, especially Tylosthrop.Ha, yes...In fact, that's where I got that from. :-) My favorite though : " I was reading the paper this morning and the Gulfport police ran a prostitution sting with a bunch of female cops trying to solicit customers on the beach, just down the street from me. A bunch of arrests. Luckily for me I'm broke so had to turn them down when they approached me. "Patrick
snakster 0
I've been lurking and reading for a while now. Finally got around to registering (I guess to put my two cents in on this thread). I thought about signing up for the Fantasy pool but decided against it. I did not want to feel like a Johnny come lately. For the record, I decided that before I stumbled across this thread. My personal feeling is that it di not seem right to jump in on something like that as a "newbie" just for the prospect of winning a prize. Now next year....Hope to contribute more, now that I got off my lazy butt (figuratively, of course, as I am still sitting) and registered.

MrTimCaum 0
I'm one of the people that registered up the other day so I could make picks in the fantasy pool. I've been reading FCP on a daily basis for 5 months or so, and frankly, the attitude of some of the regular posters had kept me from registering until now. I post constantly on the poker subforum of the Something Awful forums, occasionally at 2+2, and I'll probably post here and there now that I'm registered on FCP, but I feel no need to make appologies because I joined to get involved with the fantasy pool.edit: just wanted to throw this in here as well - How hard is it to log in and make quality posts? Is it really asking that much to have 100 posts? They don't even all have to be of quality! It took me about a month and a half to get 1300 posts. It's not that difficult! That is one of the dumbest things I've ever read. What is the point in wasting time making posts that aren't worthwhile? No one should be encouraged to post random bullshit in an attempt to get past some meaningless 100 post threshold.
