MaxStPolish 4
Dude EARNED money, decided to step away from the profession he earned it.Millions of guys on the .com bubble, housing bubble, etc. envy this decision.Anything other than, gg sir, enjoy your wealth is just a lol opinion/discussion.I know people's opinion's are just that, but in this situation, I feel like you gotta just be rabblerausing or going 'debate team' on the topic to conjure up anything other than, good for him/it's his life. JSpencer 0
More power to him, it is his money and I supposed he can decide to do whatever he wants with it.As mentioned before, it does say "Break" so you can't really consider this as him retiring. Regardless, I'msure his love for the game would bring him back after some time passes.
HangukMiguk 8
um, you are agreeing with me sir. You are helping prove my point. lol. Since he won, he plays the bare minimum of his contract etc. SO, he is taking MILLIONS of dollars out of the poker world. We will not miss him, we miss the money. The poker economy is a bottom-up economy. There is more money lost overall toward the collective of players if some fish playing 5/10 steps out over someone who won millions of dollars in one fell swoop, but is also a fish, because that fish is more likely to play well over his head. The people who benefit from the former are the grinders playing that 5/10 game, and as they move up in limits, this money will trickle up to the higher players. The latter only benefits the high rollers. Eastgate may take more money out altogether but he effects the overall poker economy less than any other fish IMO.Now if Bill Gates decided to stop playing 3/6 games with his bottomless pit of finances, then we could cry that the poker economy has been seriously jilted. thebottomline 0
LOL, i never said he 'couldnt' do it. All i said was that it sucks. It takes tons of money out of the poker world and most of those big winners are huge fish. (jamie gold, jerry yang, etc) Obviously he is not breaking any laws by living the dream with his millionsIf by taking money out of the poker community you mean winning and not dumping it all back, Phil Ivey is the biggest ******* in the poker community, and the worst thing in poker. Right?

thebottomline 0
no, this is just stupid. Stop taking things out of context to debate for no reason. grow upThen explain. If someone winning money and leaving is taking money out of the community, so is someone who consistently wins and never loses. And grow up? My point was to show how stupid yours was, I wasn't being moronic. You getting pissed about someone retiring or leaving poker for a while after winning a lot of money, and not seeing how it's a stupid reason as the people at the very top take money that no-one else sees again is stupid.Grow up. FARGOpokerND 22
I actually respectfully disagree with your point on taking money out of the community, shipp_itt.I think that stands true when someone like the aforementioned Gold or Yang leave the poker world, because they clearly have a -ROI which in theory puts money back into the poker world. If Eastgate is a winner, then his +ROI would mean every tourney he plays, he takes more money out of the poker world. By him not playing, we are actually MAKING more money since he is not there to take money from others now, thus giving us a chance to take that money. In theory, YES he did take money out of the poker world, but that money would have been used to just make more money, so as poker players, we shouldn't be upset about it. mtdesmoines 3
IIRC, Eastgate was losing $ online. He may be interested in stopping the bleeding and being a young man iwth $ for a while.
SBriand 4
obviously. i didnt say anything was wrong with it or that i wouldnt do it or it was poor etiquette? i said its lame, it sucks, bad for poker, and i hate it. ..that is all.are you sure?i hate this along with jerry yang playing like 4 tournies since he won...i think hitting a huge MTT like this and never playing again is like hit and running at a cash table.
