There are some moments in your sons life that they will never forget and will grow from.

This weekend Adrian’s team was playing for the Northern California championships. In the final game they played against a San Jose team that they had been battling all year. In one of the most epic games in California Peewee history ( mentioned by several of the organizers) they lost 3-2 in the 4th overtime. One of the most exciting games you can ever watch.

After the 3rd OT they even cut/flooded the ice as the kids went in the locker room. Something they never experienced as that doesn’t happen in Peewee. I can honestly say Adrian had one of his greatest games ever as he made 46 saves. Some dramatic ones in the overtime’s. 2 minutes before the goal he made a glove save that was just insane and had the whole building buzzing. The winning goal was a clear breakaway that he just got beat by a great shot.

In the end they fell one goal short, it was definitely a tough loss but they played their hearts out. The positive is they qualified for the State Championship in 2 weeks which is a huge accomplishment.

It’s hard to see the disappointment in the kids face after they played such an epic game, but after the initial disappointment wore off they were proud of what they accomplished and it’s a game they will never forget and will be remembered in the history of these championships for a long time.

They still have a chance to be State champions in 2 weeks.

Before the final game they played ONLY the Canadian national anthem in honor of the Broncos. There wasn’t a dry eye in the rink and being the only Canadian on the ice it was really an emotional moment for Adrian and our family.

My older daughter made the Select softball team while my younger daughter did not. Yes I am pretty angry since I truly believe the younger one is good enough to be on the team. This pretty much negates me from any parent involvement. I will not provide any team support or offer any team party facilities like I did last year.

Anyways the first tournament for the softball team will be in Niagara Falls July 7th weekend. The craps table is calling me.

Had our parent meeting and the idiot coach (I call them dumb and dumber) wants the team at Niagara at 6:30 am on Saturday. Uh the majority are driving from Toronto!!!!!! Anyways I thought I will be rolling in from the casino late so might as well just drop my daughter off and run back to the hotel to sleep.

Only played one tournament and my daughter is disinterested in playing softball. She is sick of the idiot coach complaining to the team and how he demeans her and others. At practice tonight one of the 5 girls who can't play, didn't catch a pop up at 2nd. He blame the whole team and than made them run as a team.

I could not believe however what my daughter said. She said she didn't like playing and would consider quitting.

If you are wondering how my daughter is, she is their #3 hitter and best outfielder. She is consider the teams best player.

Just found out that I will be at Lyndwood Park early Saturday morning and than Crookes Park Saturday afternoon for my daughter softball tournament.

Another long day at the softball tournament in Mississauga. Found out it was a 12 team tournament and we came in 5th. Should of have been at least top 5 of the dumb coach had his daughter pitch in the first game and we lost

As I race off to our 3rd game I had to look for parking. So I drop my daughter off and it was an adventure finding parking but I figure out that we should park in the residence area. As I walked over to my daughter she said Daddy I won. I said won what? She said I won fastest runner in the skills competition. They also had most accurate thrower and longest hitter

My daughter had a busy last weekend. It was the provincials for Softball in Unionville and her soccer championship in port perry which started on Friday.

Soccer did not go too well since we lost the first game on Saturday which meant we were out. Softball went on forever and one of the coaches begged her to come back for the last Softball game which we did. After the dust settled the team can now say we are 3rd in the province.

Both of my girls are trying out for rep softball teams. My god the skills on some of these girls are off the charts.

On the 14/15 year old girls they did a speed test on 24 girls

Who are trying out. From home to first So I grabbed my phone and time them too. The average time was around 3.7. My daughter ran it in 3.16. I could tell coaches were impressed but that is what is needed since I think the team is locked in with their roster. To grab a spot she would have to do cart wheels and more to knock someone off

After a painful couple of weeks my older daughter finally got an offer to play Rep Softball for Oshawa. It's a tier 2 team but I don't care

hope she has fun

My Niece started in house league, moved up to Tier 2 and then played Tier 1 and her team was a two time National Champion. She was the 2nd pitcher on the team that won the Tier 1 Nationals.

That’s amazing. Pitchers are a different breed. They can pick and choose any team they want to play for

After we tried out for Aurora, it was late and driving home. She had been eaten alive by mosquitoes She was very sad since she knew she didn’t knock anyone out and the same team was staying intact. It was tough trying to keep her spirits up. Last night I got the email that she didn’t make the Vaughan team and I had to break the news to her this morning. So she limp into the Oshawa tryout with no motivation. I told her don’t worry I will drive you anywhere you want. The next tryouts were Richmond Hill and Cobourg. Yes Cobourg

Well things have changed. I will be hanging out in Richmond Hill at least 2 nights a week. The coach kept emailing me after I told him we are not coming to tryouts. In the cold rain tonight he made his assessment and offer my daughter and her 2 friends positions on the team. I accept because its closer to home than Oshawa.

I than read some info on the coach. He just won the gold in the Eastern Canadian Championships in Newfoundland 2 weeks ago. I am floored since I thought he was an easy going guy and never thought he had it in him as a coach.

Both of my daughters are now in Rep Softball. The younger one as a pitcher and the older one is an outfielder. I have been in full driving mode every single night. Heading out to either Aurora or Richmond Hill. Last night we were in Aurora for a friendly game against the 2003 girls. My daughter is a 2004 team. We expected to get smoked however the game ended 8-4. We held our own. The Aurora pitcher was throwing smoke. She was fast. Since the coach doesn't really know how my daughter is, he had her at the bottom of the order. There was a full count on my daughter and than boom, bomb to center field. The center fielder just turn and ran for the ball. It was a triple since she can run.

Honestly there is nothing like seeing your own hit one into the night sky and run like the wind. Awesome feeling I have to say.

Very glad my daughter got my wife's athletic skills.

Next weekend we have a friendly game against Oshawa on Saturday and than I am in Port Perry all day Sunday for a softball tournament.

Next weekend we have a friendly game against Oshawa on Saturday and than I am in Port Perry all day Sunday for a softball tournament.

Boy what a tough weekend. Friday we had a family wedding to attend at Elora Mills. We could not stay over night since my daughter has a softball game in Oshawa the next morning. Woke up early and the coach called wondering where we were since we were suppose to be at the park at 9 am. We got there at 9:30. I hate being late but my daughter could not get up. Afterwards I had to leave my daughter with a parent since I had a tee time at 2 pm with Otto. We got to the golf course at 1:55.

Sunday was a killer since our first game in Port Perry was at 8:30 am for my younger daughter. Her and another girl were the only new additions to the team. I had to wake up at 6 am. I need my beauty sleep so it was tough.

For the 1st game my daughter played pretty good. Had 2 very nice hits and we played a senior team & we expected to lose huge. We won 8-6.

2nd game we played a junior team and expected to win. We lost 9-7 because my daughter pitched and she was horrendous. She got yanked and cried on the bench. I tried to comfort her but she is a competitor and perfectionist. On the field she played well and also had a couple of hits.

3rd game we played a team out of Burlington. The practice 5-6 days a week and train the girls for NCAA scholorships. Yes I know crazy. We expected to lose huge but won 8-7 on a walkoff triple by the coach's daughter. How that came about however was crazy. These girls can hit but the fielding on our team was amazing. We play 7 innings but in the 6th inning with the game tied at 7s a girl hit a huge liner towards 2nd base. My daughter jumped like she was scaling the wall and caught it like a snowcone. The sight of her running back to the dugout with a huge smile while her teammates ran beside her was worth a million bucks. With the game still tied in the top of the 7th, they had my daughter in right field. This time a girl hit a huge bomb to right field. The opposing parents cheer loud when the hit happen but out of nowhere my daughter runs over and catches it. Than you hear a roar from our parents. We get the win and our parents are happy. Some parents come over to me to say how my daughter played outstanding. All of a sudden one of the umpires comes over to me and says thats your daughter (I think well there is only 1 chinese girl at the tournament, what do you think?) He than says she was amazing out today. I saw all 3 of your games and your daughter was all over the place. He than shakes my hand.

Just remember my younger daughter was cut from her select team since the idiot coach told me that her hitting is an issue and that is the reason I was looking for a rep team for her.

Winter training will start in a month and my daughter is already itching for the season to start.

As we go into our 4th season of hockey for Adrian in California, the inevitable has happened and we reached a crossroads.

The first 3 years his team has won their division and it culminated in a State Championship last year along with 3 tournament wins.

This year is first year Bantam and the team is weaker. We lost a few players, due to age and moving up to higher division so it looks like it will be a challenging year. In Preseason we were 1-3, with Adrian giving up only 9 goals in the 4 games, but our team has issues scoring.

Last game we were outshot 29-6 and lost 1-0 on a goal with 29 seconds left. He got really frustrated and got "triggered" and cost him a 10 minute misconduct.

We have been offered to play on 3 teams at higher levels, however the travel is really the issue. He was offered a spot on the Stockton team, but its 2 hours away..We would have to travel to practice twice a week. Plus we like the organization here and if he was to leave, there is no goalie at this age level to replace him and the team might fold.

The dilemma is he is going to be 14 soon, and if he wants to take this seriously we may have to make some decisions. He will not be playing in the NHL obviously, however there is a chance he can play college hockey as there are a lot of programs in the west that might be possible. While NCAA Division 1 is usually reserved for kids that are on the pro route and NHL draftees, there are a lot of schools that offered Division 2, Division 3 hockey. Also ACHA, which is the American Collegiate Hockey Association has club hockey that offers scholarships at various levels. While we are realistic in his chances, he might be in the top 20 percent of goalies in the 2005 age year in all of California.

We have been told if your kid is good enough they will find you. Also there are several showcases when they are 15 that college coaches and scouts attend.

One reason for this post is I like to document his career from those days we started house league and didnt know the difference in equipment. I cant believe how long ago that was.

Serge all I care about is watching my girls play. Houseleague Select or Rep. It doesn’t matter.

I hear parents talk about scholarships etc but IMO I want a Canadian education for them. So they are going to stay in tier 2 and just play and compete.

The downside of my girls playing Rep ball. The additional costs involved. My wife wants me to canvas to ask if anyone wants to sponsor their teams. I said no I can't do it. We pay out of our own pocket.
