Hi new to this forum.I am just back from a poker game and I think I was cheated.Background of myself - I have only been playing poker since late April 2010 and I have got used to quite a lot.However, I was stumped tonight to find out my 4 of a kind was worse than a full house....Here is what got dealt:Me: A J other: 6 6 Flop: J 4 J Turn: J River: 2 There was no good explanation about how the full house was better.could someone explain to me why?is it because the other person could use their 2 cards, but me only 1???

This post was originally intended to be a joke about how my penis is at the pinnacle of your girlfriend's "order of goodness." But then I realized that a royal flush would most realistically still be on top and then I died a little inside.

It's an extension of this well-known poker concept: Two pair beats trips. Basically, everyone in poker knows that a pair in the hole is better than two unpaired cards in the hole. To that end, if there is a pair on the board (like [7 7 8] flop) then the person holding an over pair (like [K K]) has a better hand than a person holding one of the two remaining 7's (like [6 7]). This is to make up for the fact that nobody enjoys getting their over pair cracked by unpaired junk hands.A newly adopted rule extends this to quads versus full houses. In this case, the person with the pair in their hand (in your example, the person holding [6 6]) has a better-looking hand than the person holding two unpaired cards [A J], and therefore wins the pot on a [J J J x x] board.
