CajunDragon 0
First off--Please don't' flame me. This is just my opinion and observations. Healthy input is welcomed.-----------I am disappointed with the WSOP and how they have financially segregated the tournaments between the Pavilion and Amazon rooms. A lot of players come to the WSOP to check out the guys they have been watching on TV and railing online. When you arrive, they point you in to the first Pavilion room which is basically where the noobs are grinding donkaments. There are very few pros in that section.I realize that they need all the space they can get but seems they are purposely only running higher buy in events in the Amazon room. I have a friend here who has been playing cash and $200-$1000 tourneys for over a week here. He said 'Gee, I thought there would be more pros here in the Amazon room'. He is a smart guy, but he was unaware that he'd been playing in the Pavalion and that there was even a second room. It's not that obvious to a newbie. I then talked to a few other guys who didn't know there were other events going on in the Amazon hall. I just think it would be good to put a big event in the Pavilion from time to time too. The $10k HU event yesterday could of easily fit. To top it all off, there is a guard and thug standing by the entry to the Amazon hall as if to say 'thou shalt not pass!'How about they throw up a sign that says "Come see how sick Durr is! Rail Phil Ivey as he reads souls. See how many times Scotty will say BABY. Come visit the Amazon room behind the main poker Pavalion!' Maybe the 'pros' have expressed interested in not having a lot of rail birds? Just curious. Last year it was wonderful to have everyone mixing it up with the pros in one location.I was going to make a blog post about this but then I remembered that I have no blog :)Thoughts? hartman72 0
Don't start a thread by saying "please don't flame me"I've never been to the WSOP, but in any poker room, the higher buy in tables are always in a seperate area. Money does have some privilages.....
HighwayStar 8
If you want to go pro spotting it's much easier now since the bigger buy in events/day 2+s are in a smaller overall area. The Pavillion room is enormous so it'd be hard to find anyone anyway.
CajunDragon 0
hartman72,Yes, I forgot that I was not posting on 2+2 (hehehe needle) I agree with you on that, but the WSOP is a whole experience. It'snot a quick dash down to a local casino. It could potentially bringnew curious players in to the game who are just visiting for thesummer, UFC or July 4th holiday.I'm not on the players advisory board for a reason :)I personally don't care about watching familiar faces but sooo many people do. Suited_Up 2
That attitude is really really stupid. Why, cause it's not good for the game? It's just my general opinion in a vacuum. Not everything has to be extrapolated to poker as a whole. It doesn't even have to be limited to poker. But to think of poker players as celebrities and treat them as such is silly to me. They just play poker. We all do.
looshle 6
Almost EVERY tourney starts in Pavilion on day 1 and moves to amazon for day 2- conclusion.

I mean, I find it a little silly in all instances, but it's a little different for athletes because it's extremely hard to do that professionally. You have to be pretty elite. I just think it's different to be a poker fan, and to be a fanboy.I wouldn't say I look down on them, because people are that way about just about everything you possibly could be, but in general I just don't really get it. Naked_Cowboy 0
Um, does your friend realize there's a huge spectators entrance to the amazon room? Because there's a 12 foot wide banner that says "spectators entrance", and extremely easy access to the 4 featured tables in the amazon room for spectators. Last week they even lined up the last 4-5 tables of the $10K LHE event ALONG THE RAIL for spectators, even though they could have easily given the players more space and privacy elsewhere in the room. They have to have two rooms to make it easier to manage events. There can easily be 4-5 events running at one time. The ones that are on days 2-3 can be contained in smaller sections in the amazon while the current days events that have tons of active breaking and movement can be handled in the pavilion room without disturbing the deep events. I genuinely have no idea how you would propose to make things more accessible. Like looshle said, almost all day 1s start in the pavilion and move to amazon for day 2+. Cash games are also in pavilion. When I played cash at the rio last sunday, I took a break and walked right up and watched a 25-50-100 PLO game with mike mizrachi, vanessa selbst, etc from a few feet away. Does your friend want to force the WSOP to make pros play in the $200 tournaments with him?

Anybody can do it huh? That most be why there are millions of non professional players. It must because they don't work enough at it. Or maybe they just decided I'd rather work my 9-5 then be a professional poker player. That must be it. I lose respect for you with every post.

Some people don't have time or patience, but it's not impossible to get good if you really want to. Not to mention a lot of people have the ability to play for a living, and choose not to.And don't worry, I don't need your respect.

As many as Ivey, Hellmuth, Brunson, Seidel, Chan? You would have no problem doing that I bet.I'm sure you can be taught to make reads like Ivey or put your opponent on an exact hand with surprising accuracy like DN can a lot of the time? Arrogant pricks rarely ever do need anyone's respect

It's not impossible for your average player to work hard, and reach a very high level. However, for every player that works hard and gets to the top, there's 4 players that work just as hard and won't ever be any better than a winning 2/4 player.

Cause poker is THAT easy. Just a game.
