Wstar 0
Hello everyone. Loving the forums here. Been reading for a while.I've been playing on PokerStars for a while, playing anything from .02 to .25 games. It just seems to me (and I may be wrong) that players just don't play correctly. Too much chasing / lack of strategy. Again, it could just be me. I was wondering where a good place to jump up to and not feel like i'm playing with children. I know I've heard Daniel talk about how different it is playing micro games. Would a good area to start playing be around the .50/$1 tables...Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Wstar
fighter 4
Play at the level where your bank roll doesn't go bust from the variance of the game and you are a winning player. BTW I would play against children all day every day if I could. That's because I play poker for the money.
Wstar 0
Thanks for the reply. You must be a lot better than I, lol. I just keep getting people who just call everything and end up hitting on the river. Maybe its just a run of bad luck or cards. Any advice for micro games?

CorvairShaggy 5
This thread needs to be moved to the Cash Game Strategy Section, but #1 is BANKROLL. . Usually been making $100-$300 deposits at a whack, but was playing .50/$1 NL and kept getting killed. Playing above my skill level. Started playing the lower stakes, and things started working. (I have been playing off/on for 10 years, but 3 months ago started playing seriously. Studying, reading, thinking (debatable) etc. I now started playing the 20-50 BB .25NL. Almost 2 weeks ago I made another deposit this time of $25 just to force myself to play smarter and not gamble. I turned my $25 into about $180 at it's peak. Played some small tourneys, but made most of the cash on .25nl. I finally felt like things were soaking in, and was feeling good about my game. After 1,300 hands my poker tracker chart was going straight up, then the past 2 days happened. VARIANCE. Couldn't catch cards, was making the plays I have been making that were winning but was running against more aggressive people playing goofy cards, was not winning flips, getting it in as a favorite then getting drawn out on, etc. and things just were not going my way. Basically poker. Bankroll now down to $110, but when things started going bad, just had to STOP and not force it. I'll probably take a few days off this weekend and blow of some player points on sat. tourneys, watch some PokerVT, relax a little. Seemed to work before I went on my 2 week good fortune run. I once thought only bad players played at micro stakes, but learned that they are not that bad once you really pay attention to them. If you plan on playing at $1NL, you better be very comfortable/confident in your game, and have a bankroll of about $300-$500 at a min. Good Luck!!
Biff Goods 0
This is the first lesson everyone should learn when starting off online. Beating the Micro Stakes is so easy that it seems really, really hard. There is no fancy moves, no deceptive plays. You sit and wait til you have the best of it and bet hard. For some reason, everyone (present company included) can't seem to figure that out when they start off. Any play or deep thinking move you have seen on T.V. or read about in a book means nothing when playing at the micro stakes. Just be when you have it and fold when you don't. Plain and simple. No bluffing.
r23y 2
I use to think the the same way that at micros it was nothing but bad players. Then i started really working hard on watching players and what the play and how they play them. This is going to help you as you move up.Paying attention to how they play and when they are chasing will help you to know when to release and when to apply pressure. At the micro I think the best way to play is just staight forword poker.Don't try alot of bluffs because alot of times people at that level are not going to understand what you are doing they are just playing the card in there hand.Best of luck
