i won the bad beat jackpot!!!

Recommended Posts

Thats really great and congrats. Just thought Id share something sick I saw last night playing .5-1 NL.pocket Aces turns quads only to get beat by a guy playing 34 of diamonds who flopped the wheel and rivered a 5 high straight flush. This was what qualifies for the bad beat and happens less than 1 out of a 1,000,000 hands, but alas, theres no bad beat jackpot on my site.

The badbeat jackpot has been hit 5 or 6 times today on Party. It was down to like 1,500 a minute ago. The last guy who won took home all of $2,300 lol.

So I'm on Party Poker and I search to see if Another_AT is playing. Sure enough he is playing the 15/30 tables. I feel bad, because moving from 2-4 to 15/30 after hitting the bad beat jackpot is the worst idea possible. If you are reading this Another_AT....take the 20gs and invest it. I don't know your financial situation, but the 20k will not last as long as u think playing 15/30, and you are much better off investing it. Just some friendly advice.

Hey man,I am Another_AT on Party Poker and a member of this site told me they were posting on here about the bad beat (as I moved up from 2-4 to 15/30)! Anyway congrats on your 46gs and I know Im enjoying the 23 I got: BIG NIGHT PLANNED! Anyway I hope everyone enjoyed the BILL FILLMATH line! GREAT HAND AND WOW THIS IS GREAT!Cheers,ATps. shoot me a line sometime!
It's great that you are here! It's also great that you are a Canadian! Without you I would not be that rich :club: Did you see the message on the screen BEFORE we won? I was playing three tables and thought that the Jackpot was just won by someone else. Now that I have thought about it, I think it was a message about the HIGH HAND JACKPOT. Do you remember? Can you confirm what I was thinking? Did you suspect that I had pocket Jacks? By the river, with all of the quick betting and raising, I did. (kind of spookey)If you are ever planning to come to Toronto let me know, I still have to get my $100 back  Take care, Owise1

Oh my Goodness, that's absolutely insane!! Congratulations. Don't lose it all with 15/30! Buy a car or a downpayment for a house!
Not going to buy a car, don't want something that depreciates as soon as I drive it off the lot. But I had a meeting today at the bank to talk about a mortgage. 46k USD is close to 60K CAD, great for a downpayment. I really want to but a rental property, live in part of the house and rent out the other. Hopefully the rent will cover the mortgage payments etc... Houses in Toronto are really expensive if you don't know that already and the markey is up now, so I may wait a while. Take care, owise1

Youre a smart man. Please invest the money wisely and dont jump to 15/30 like the other guy.

CongratsI would like to say for u to actually make a thread about youre strategy to hit the bad beat jackpot then to actually hit it is pretty amazing.Congrats again! :-)
Yes, it is kind of spooky. Of course I was extremly lucky, but I sort of predicted it. :? Is that insane or what? :!: I usually go on the bad beat tables to work off my bonus and play 3 at a time. My strategy is to play pretty tight, rarely bluff, but to see a lot of flops with suited connectors and pocket eights or better from any position just to try for the bad beat. I fold other hands that I would play normally (depending upon position of course), like pocket sevens to pocket twos just to compensate for the other crap/long shot hands that I do play. This way I try to keep my pre flop fold % around 80 +Take care, owise1

I told another_at that we were talking about the hand on FCP, and then I told him he was nuts to jump up to 15/30 so quick. I was congratulating him and all he kept saying was "I'm Rich, I'm Rich". I bet he dropped 20k of it back on party during the day. Anyone know for sure? Also who do I see about my referral bonus for referring him here? I think since DN is still up 100k he should shoot me over the $50 referral lol.I was justback on party and saw Another_AT dropping mad loot again, he's been at it all day. After he left the 15/30 table about 20 mins ago with $0 he jumped in to a 100+9 sit and go. Very sad.KING B

This is the smartest thing posted in this thread so far. I'm not sure about Canadian tax laws and what not - but buying a home and getting a mortgage is the most important thing any adult can do. It has tremendous +EV in the U.S. I've got lots of friends in Toronto (not Asian surprisingly) and it's a great place to buy a home. Good luck with the real estate search and management. Also, I figure since you are Canadian your taxes will be pretty good from the prize compared to the U.S. (where it must be reported and taxed) - can people confirm this?I don't know if Another_AT is losing at 15/30 but I hope everyone doesn't get to hear ANOTHER bankroll mgmt lesson.

To all FCPers in the Toronto area, I'm planning a party to celebrate. I think we should meet downtown at a bar/lounge. Possibly a tourney after (or before) or head to an underground place or to a casino. p.m. me if you are in, then when I get an idea of the numbers I will post the location and all of the other details. Take care, Owise1

Another_AT is 3 tabling 15/30 as we speak. So sad.
If he won about $27000 and is playing 15/30 that would just require a $9000 BR. I would probably do something similiar. Invest/bill pay over half and use like 1/3 of it to keep in my bankroll.

Winning a bad beat jackpot does not mean you are ready to jump from 2/4-15/30. Sure, you can move up a couple limits, but this is too drastic and ultimately will crush your bankroll because you have no idea whether or not you are ready for these limits.

Congrats man. I was playing 2-4 on Pokerroom today and had flopped quad 10's beat on the river by quad Jack's. Know what I got? Laughed at and mocked by the table and $150 of my bankroll, which I was already spending in my mind from the time i pushed all in to the river, taken right from me. I am jealous, I must say.

Would love to know how long it takes you to get your money....and if you have to go through any red tape.  Keep us updated.  Congrats.
Yes there is a lot of red tape. A big part of it though is because I am in Canada and don't want to exchange the funds to Canadian dollars right away. If i went through my neteller account that is what would happen and I think they take an "administration fee" on the exchange. Also I'm sure it is not the best exchange rate. It is a simiar story if I choose the Electronic transfer option at Party poker. Although there is no administration fee, the funds are converted into Canadian dollars. I really wanted a cheque (notice the Canadian spelling) as my first choice so I could take a picture of me with it and make a photocopy of it. However, at party poker the cheques by mail are free but have a limit of $3000 and as they say, "Checks will reach you within 7-20 business days, from the date approved, depending upon your location. " I've heard it takes a month. The other cheque option is by courier (FedEx, UPS or DHL). This costs $25 which I don't care about, but it has a maximum of $7500. I really don't want 6 or 7 cheques, just one big one. The wire transfer option costs $25 (again no big deal) but has a maximum of $10,000 per month. So where are we at now? Well, after trying to cash out $46,000 I got this message, "PartyPoker.com CashierPayments by Pay-Pro Cashier SystemFurther Verification RequiredYour request exceeds our aggregate Cash Out limit of $10,000 per month or $3,000 per day.In order to comply with our obligations and policies in relation to money transfers we need some additional details from you before we can accept your cash out request. It's easy, and you'll only need to do it once. As soon as your details are confirmed, you'll automatically qualify for faster cash outs and higher deposit limits! Please send a copy of your driver's license (or passport) to us:Toll Free Fax (US and Canada): +1 (888) 542-7009Toll Fax (International): +44 (125) 858-0582Orsend a scan in an email to: efax@pay-pro.com. Once we receive your fax or email, we will contact you via email, usually within 20 minutes. Please note: Once the verification process is complete, you will need to return to the Cashier page to cash out, and our system will then recognise you as a verified person. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at +1 (877) 776-1204 (Toll Free for US and Canada) or +350 41120 (International Rates Apply). We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week." I sent them my drivers license, as they requested, and bank info. After phoning them (and now I just got an email telling me the same thing), I found out I have to fill out their Preferred Member Application. I was trying to avoid this because I have to send some credit card info (of the card(s) that I used to make a deposit) to them by fax or email. Both of which are not too secure in my opinion. But it looks like this is what I will have to do to get the money the way I want it, in USD. That's it for now, Told you it was long and boring. But Drunk Aces asked for it. Take care, Owise1
