Was that from the inside or the outside? Not to be insensitive but for this argument it makes a big difference. I am certainly not arguing we have tanks that can stop bombs from the inside. And if that was from the outside, first whoa. Second, how did they get an IED in the water?
I am not sure, but that may be the USS Cole which was hit from the outside. I believe they rammed it with boat filled with explosives. Here is link to read about it. It was a suicide attack. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Cole_(DDG-67)

Yes, USS Cole, a Billion dollar Aegis Cruiser.Small boat with 2 suicide bombers in Yemen while re-fueling.Standing orders were to report approaching ships, not to fire unless fired upon.Later investigation cleared the captain for his actions, because they said the Navy had not trained them to do anything different than what they did.In other words, the soldiers died because they went to re-fuel with the training they had, not the training they wanted.I guess now you can start blaming Clinton and Cohen for the sailors deaths?

Ok that makes a lot more sense. I was just talking about tanks designed specifically to deal with roadside bombs. They definitely do not make tanks designed to stop suicide attacks with ridiculous amounts of explosives. Also, damn. That's a big hole.

A roadside bomb is an IED whether they have 2 M-80s strapped to a cigarette, or 2,000 pounds of Semtex wired to a cell phone. So your blanket accusation against Rumsfeld ( who was and is an idiot ) fails. If you remember youngster, in the 1st gulf war, we didn't have to deal with IEDs, so it's not a huge glaring hole in our leadership to think that we weren't spending millions of dollars on armor for something we hadn't had to deal with before.

(CNN) -- Conservative firebrand Tom Tancredo will run for governor of Colorado despite strident objections from the state GOP, the former congressman is set to announce later Monday.Tancredo floated the possibility of a third-party gubernatorial run last week, demanding that the two-current GOP candidates who have both been beset by scandals withdraw from the race after the August 10 primary if polls show Democrat John Hickenlooper far ahead. The Republicans -- Scott McInnis and Dan Maes -- both scoffed at Tancredo's threat, prompting the onetime Republican presidential candidate to step up his announcement. "I will officially announce at noon that I will seek the nomination of the constitution party," Tancredo told The Denver Post. The move gave rise to a heated exchange between Tancredo and Colorado GOP chairman Dick Wadhams on local radio station KHOW Monday, with the two men descending into a shouting match over what is best for the Colorado Republican party. "Why don't you wait until after the primary?" Wadhams implored Tancredo. "Because you know as well as I do, if I am going to run, I have to get going," responded Tancredo. "There is no downside for either one of these guys to simply say 'If I am not ahead at that time I will get out.'""What will your agenda be?" Wadhams also asked Tancredo sarcastically. "Are you going to keep talking about impeaching Obama and bombing Mecca?McInnis, a prominent Colorado lawyer apologized earlier this month for plagiarising several passages of a judge's work in producing a series of essays for which he was paid $300,000 to write as part of a fellowship in 2003. Maes, meanwhile, is facing political troubles too, agreeing earlier this month to pay more than $17,000 in a fine for campaign finance violations.Tancredo, most known for his hard-line stance against illegal immigration, came under fire earlier this year when he kicked off a Tea Party convention by proclaiming, "people who could not even spell the word 'vote', or say it in English, put a committed socialist ideologue in the White House. His name is Barack Hussein Obama."A spokesman for the Tea Party Nation, the group that organized the convention, said at the time that Tancredo's speech may have provide some red meat but termed it problematic.Tancredo also stired the pot earlier this month at a campaign rally for Senate candidate Ken Buck, saying Presidetn Obama constitutes more of a threat to the United States than terrorist organizations."The greatest threat to the United States today, the greatest threat to our liberty, the greatest threat to the Constitution of the United States, the greatest threat to our way of life, everything we believe in, the greatest threat to the country that was put together by the Founding Fathers is the guy that is in the White House today."Now, leaders of more than 20 Tea Party groups are urging Tancredo not to run for governor."Together our groups strongly urge you to reconsider, withdraw your ultimatum, stay in the Republican Party, let the process play out for the governor's race," stated an open-letter signed by 21 Tea Party groups Sunday. "In other words, to trust and respect the newly awakened, energized and informed voters of Colorado."The letter went on to state that Tancredo's entry in the race will assure "victory for Mayor Hickenlooper and the liberal agenda in Colorado for at least four more years."who else is excited to watch the GOP blow this golden opportunity by splitting their own votes? I know I am.Also, Jeep, is it really Mayor Hickenlooper? ha.

He's awesome. He used to run a brewery! I have seen this guy at a half dozen events and a couple more times on the street. I always engage him, shake his hand, and talk shit about his city's drug laws. He's a really cool guy in my opinion.Tancredo is just horrible but he supports legalization and wants to reform immigration. I'm for some kind of reform but I think we need to handle the drug war before immigration. I think tancredo is sinking the ship. The two other contestants (Maes and Mcinnis) have had lots of really bad press lately, so both of them are sucky candidates. Tancredo knows he'll never win against two other guys. I'm not sure if he's driving votes away from mcinnis and maes but I think it's ridiculous, and it's good for Hick to have all of this republican infighting. I think tancredo can make a case for a different candidate if he sufficiently affects the primary numbers.

I have heard him speak very eloquently about some issues and I nod my head and say "hey this guy aint so bad!" and then he starts talking about pre-emptive invasion of Iran or certain social issues and I remember "oh yeah, this guy be a little crazy". Kind of Mike Huckabee on steroids. The Democrats should (based on history and underwhelming performance) lose a lot of seats this fall but if the GOP keeps having to support these wildly controversial candidates (or worse have a couple guys splitting the conservative vote in a bunch of races)......well there could be a lot of sad tea party pandas.

McInnis and Maes both have issues, and both are not strong candidates. They are fighting each other, and tancredo is absolutely electable. I wouldn't even be that concerned about skeletons in the closet, he's already run for office. However, given tancredo's radical immigration views, I think he is going to appeal to old people who vote who might be slightly racist, and scream about repeating arizona etc. So with mcinnis and maes ruining themselves tancredo puts himself in the headlines. I don't think there is a high level of latino caused crime, but we most definitely hear about it when illegals **** up. I have never had any problems. But you better believe grandma will vote if tancredo screams about illegals enough, which is his plan I bet.

Tom Tancredo cannot win a general election (you cannot win in politics by saying incredibly controversial and sometimes crazy things) and if all three candidates are on the ballot the Democrat will win by default with 40-45% because Tancredo will siphon the far right and immigration buffs from a group that was never voting Dem anyway.I honestly believe the GOP will blow 5-7 seats in this manner in the fall. Just enough to keep the Dems in control of both houses which kinda sucks. If the GOP took over the House and the Dems kept the Senate, that would be perfect.

I would agree that he could never win a national election, but that would be an interesting dynamic with the arizona stuff. Tancredo's basically saying, 'find someone other than these two clowns, or I'll kill any chance repubs have. I kinda think he's serious.Either he runs and hick wins or he doesn't run because the repubs got a new candidate. or something.

Perfect would include a revolution where all the lawyers with over 6 months experience ( thinking of you ) are lined up on the wall and shot second, right after the politicians.

We're talking state-level here. What you classify as 'incredibly controversial' really isn't 'controversial' once you get outside of certain circles that are much narrower than they think.Believe it or not, Middle America still says "nigger"; just not openly, anymore. But behind closed doors? There is a boiling cauldron of resentment amongst Working-Joes for parasitic minorities and their leftist enablers that seethes. If the people on the other side of this issue understood the sheer breadth of this sentiment and the unforgiving nature of the people they were up against, they'd probably move to another country, since it's only a matter of time before the camels back breaks and egalitarianism is kicked to the curb... The right state level politician in a state with the right demographics, yeah, a lot of the stuff thus classified as "shocking" and/or otherwise unfathomable would probably be codified into law very quickly.

Nothing could relieve my stress at this particular moment. But just in case I am going to have a La Gloria Cubana Series R #6 in the back of the shop while I cut some wood to make a frame for the two 42' x 7.4' murals that these IDIOT clients bought in Europe and had them less than 8' tall since the ballrooms were made for Mongolian Invaders and not normal people and there would NEVER be a chance that they would use those murals again..say AT THE NEXT CONVENTION where I would be stuck with them

I'm sure his future in GOP politics is really bright now, seeing as they're so understanding and inclusive.
Did you read the article? That's exactly how he describes George W. Bush.

Right right right, because Gdubz' record on this doesn't speak for itself or anything....

If only George Bush's public persona matched his private thoughts in any way, shape or form, then this would be relevant.

You will do better in the republican party as a homosexual than you ever will in the democrat party as someone against gay marriage.Of course Republicans are more interested in freedom to be different than democrats.I bet the democrats are so sick that Melhman couldn't have been 'caught' earlier so they could blast him and ruin his life because they are so open-minded.

hahahahhahaah. I can't stop holding my sides this is so funny. And wrong.Like, a good portion of Dems are against gay marriage (how else would you explain California voting 52-48 against it chief?) and they seem to do just fine in the party. Obama is against gay marriage and they nominated him for the Presidency. Your statement makes zero sense and is rooted in some helium-induced reality of your own making.

The republicans allow people to speak at their conventions that are pro-abortion, the dems refuse to allow any pro-life democrats speak. The democrat party is completely closed to anyone who thinks differently than the party line. Not so with the republicans. But the liberal news and John Stewart tells you differently, so I understand why you don't know this.
