Sometimes, its not about how many people follow you, but who wants to follow you. Its about the quality, not just the quantity.   You have a new follower request on Twitter: Men of Sapphir

I would guess most players aren't that involved. They likely give their agent a list of priorities and the agent tries to get the best contract possible.   The agent relays the info to the player an

I'm bringing my Twitter into the real life world.   First day of class today, I sit near the front since I'm a nerd, while we're waiting to begin, prof asks my name, I say Zach... "last name?" Hende

I know she has male clients that do it on their face so they dont have to shave..Not sure how it works with the head.

Oh man, I would actually consider that. I started shaving with a 'real' razor a couple months back after just going electric for many years. In my second week, one of the senior people took me aside and suggested I shave more often because they could see stubble. I had shaved two hours ago. My facial hair looks like this:

@seangentille: A Vegas team is a 'done deal,' per Dan Patrick ... plus a good Whalers story. http://t.co/Xj3uuHrzM5 via @SportingNews

Any chance a team of poker players led by Daniel could get a stake in this?

I know they owned a minor league team very briefly a few years ago..

Daniel, Ivey, Hellmuth probably dont have the dough but they can get people like Guy Laliberte ( who has the dough) involved.

Local investors way to go IMO...Cirque shows between periods...

Also talk about the biggest home advantage in sports...

Jerry Bruckheimer has always been in line for a team. They did the economic studies a few years ago for vegas and they problem they found was that there would be good sponsorship but no season ticket base because it's a tourist town. Their fear has always been a mostly empty arena.

And because of gambling rules, one of the casinos couldn't own the team. They could sponsor, but then you'd be limiting the crowds. Las Vegas Sands corp would never send their patrons to an MGM sponsored event. Much like Shadow Creek golf course.

I find Vegas doubtful.

I find Vegas doubtful.

Frankly, I've never believed in it either, unless there is a greater local base than what we would imagine. I don't think that many tourists would actually go to it either, it would really not be a top draw for very long beyond the first year, if that.

I really don't think the average LV tourist cares about a hockey game.

Think about it this way: we are all pretty major hockey fans. If you're in vegas with your wife, are you going to cirque or an NHL game. And if you're there for any length of time, are you going to two NHL games? We would be in the minority for going to one. And if it was Las vegas versus florida panthers, probably not at all.

Agreed, exactly what I was thinking. There's just way too much to do, too many other options for your entertainment dollars.

I did go once (mentioned it a few times), I happened to be in town for the annual Frozen Ice exhibition game......but that was too easy, it was right in the hotel I was staying (MGM), and I bought a walk up ticket, had a few drinks at the game, walked out in the 3rd, still with plenty of time to enjoy the rest of my night.

I thought it was very cool I got to see an NHL game at the MGM, but even I didnt last more than an hour or two.

I love hockey, but if Im going to Vegas, Im not wasting my time at a game beyond the inital "hey this is cool" first couple of times.

I m on the other side. In Vegas I've seen Cirque shows, Carrot Top and I've been hypnotized by Marc Savard.

I would definetely go to a game and would probably plan a Vegas trip around the Leafs visit.

I think the gambling angle isn't there as 20 years ago. We can bet from anywhere one. There is enough illegal betting in Toronto that can influence games rather than in Vegas. IMO

My buddies and I went to see the AAA blue jays play and it was awesome.

There may not be a huge local season ticket base( which might be wrong), but how much of a base is there in Miami?, Arizona?

I think hockey in Vegas works and I think the Nhl finally sees it.

I would go to Vegas to watch the Leafs.

In fact if I was in Vegas I would watch the game. Would be cheaper than getting kicked in the nuts in the casino.

You guys are proving the point already. You realize we represent very hard core hockey fans. Most of us would go to a game at any opportunity, anywhere. But even we are divided about going, and thats with all the shine of a new arena. Or 'if the leafs were in town' or other qualifiers. You're NEVER finding 12,000 people to buy seasons tickets for a base. Sure, some transient tourist tickets would get out there but not enough to make it work. And the NHL hates the optics of empty arenas.
