My wife is an Oprah fan, and she (Oprah) just had Chris Christie on her new show. He really is like that all the time. He said he never really considered running for president until people like Henry Kissinger showed up at his door and begged him to reconsider. He said when that happens, you start to question yourself and your motives. But he still says no way to running for president or VP this election cycle.

So I guess Christie has no plan to ever run for President as a Republican. He just nomintated a Black Man who is openly Gay and and an immigrant to the State Supreme Courthttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/23/c..._n_1223888.html
I'll give you teh gayz, but associating Republicans with racism and immigrant hatred is absurd. They're pretty consistent that their ideologies apply to everyone. It's just that most minorities don't vote for parties that promote upward mobility over free stuff.

Do they share political ideals?
Well, Romney has none, and Christie has some, so it's one of the weird philosophical questions about whether the empty set matches all sets or no sets.
When do candidates pick their vice presidents?Would Christie be a possibility here?
At the convention, if I recall correctly in Palin's case. Christie is on the short list with Rubio and Mitch Daniels.

Christie will not accept a vice presidency. He's running in 2016, after 4 more years of Obama (in a "nothing to lose" second term) swings the political pendulum back his way.Once this happens, he will eat the pendulum then announce his candidacy.

He has maintained that he is not interested in a VP position ever, because his personality would not allow him to shut up and take a back seat to anyone. This is probably true.I think his political instincts are correct: let Obama have his 4 more years of destruction and the world will be ready for someone like Christie.

Not sure what this means. Why would the world "not be ready" for Christie, and what would it take for that to happen? To me, he seems like a standard centrist and fiscal conservative. He's just pretty good at being those things and being genuine about it. But it's not like he's a libertarian or socialist or something out of left field.

Any Republican winning before 2024 will be a miracle. People love incumbents. They just need a reason, like jobs numbers, and Obama will be reelected. Right now, there is little chance that Hillary could get beaten by anyone. She is one of the most popular politicians in the world, and has two terms locked up, unless Obama destroys us in his 2nd term.

So after Obama wins his second term Hillary steps down as Sec of State to free her up for another Presidential run. Does Obama even consider somebody like John Huntsman to be Sec of State ? I would have to think that Huntsman should be in consideration if Romney wins unless Romney just doesn't like him or something.

I think brv's answer gives a hint of what I was saying: I think Christie knows that Obama is almost a lock, and losing to an unpopular president would really harm Christie's chances long term. But put him up against a non-incumbent and himself having 6 or 7 years of budget responsibility under his belt and he'd be tough to beat. And I think he is relatively libertarian, although he's given mixed messages on a few issues. He appears to be "libertarian lite".
