OK heres the scenerio, Home game tourny theres 4 left, I got about 14k left(short stack) blinds were 3k 6k (they double blinds every 20 minutes so it turns into a crap shoot after a while) Im in the big blind, so i got 8k left after posting 1st folds next guy gos all in(don't think he was big stack but he wasn't hurting)small blind is the other short stack and he folds. I look down and see 9 2 off, now i only have at 8 left barely enough for a big blind. I was at a loss at what to do knowing if i won the hand i was in good shape to cash(top 3 pays) if i don't win im out with nothing. The original raiser was pretty aggresive so he coulda easly been making a play on the short stacks and with the money thats already in the pot what do u do?

I tell you what you do.You put your entire stack in the middle, and hope u dont hit a single card, that way u can get back to reading "poker basics" and realise that u should never have found urself in that position in the first place. Na just kidding go with your gut man its the only way in that situation!

Not much you are a fave over with 9/2 off.  its not even a coinflip type scenario.
You're missing a very important point: pot odds. He doesn't necessarily have to be the favourite to call a bet. However, that being said, when your tournament life is at stake and you're on the bubble, it would be nice to be the favourite. How much does the small blind have left? That makes a HUGE impact on this decision. If he has less than 9k left, I'd fold. Otherwise, I'd call.

A 9 high with no kicker?I think I might pass and take any two cards over that (ie the next hand.)  There isn't much worse you can draw.
So now disregard the sarcastic first post that i left (sorry i just got the urge to do it) and realise that Buddha is spot on, that is the post i thought about writing b4 the urge to flame became to great.

You call. Unless he has a pocket pair or shares your card you are only about a 2:1 dog.The pot is now laying you 2.5 to 1 odds. Hell, I call it. Better to double up with 14K than to double up with 8K.

Didn't anyone see Antonio Esfandiari (sp) double up the other day with 92os in the big blind on Poker Superstars. He caught a two and Carlos Mortensen didn't improve. Well, I think is was a 92? Anyway there comes a time when no matter the cards the pot odds justify a call. BTW if you double up with 8k how long until you have to double again to stay alive? I would think the extra 12k would come in handy. If you run a bunch or races, you are gonna lose one.
