Because the game is only decided by a few players and team depth will never come into play. I also like the idea of not allowing repeat shooters.
Yeah. I'm just playing devil's advocate really. I wanted to hear what Serge and others thought.I can definitely see arguments for repeat shooters; ie. the most talented players as often as possible. But I can just as easily see the argument for not allowing it, which speaks to team depth, and attempts to make it less of an individual showdown.I don't really care how it goes.I really like the shootout from an entertainment perspective. I'd love to see Crosby shoot 5 times in a row. But I also like seeing Marek Malik score ridiculous through-his-legs goals in the 17th round of the shootout.Basically, I love the shootout, and am indifferent to the process in the regular season. I would actually love to see 5 shooters too. The more the merrier. It's an entertaining show.If we ever get shootouts in the playoffs, that's where I draw the line.

And you'll be gay.

Those Dufour-Lapointe sisters are pretty sweet looking.   Plus that Indian guy on the Luge is a freak.

but not all teams are that deep..For example the Swiss have only 2 or 3 legit shooters...Also certain players are way better in shootouts than others, as Zach has pointed out.
Well doesn't that help the Swiss then?

1. Yeah, but I mean, if it comes down to him, score and it's over, I think he's a lot more clutch than most. Certainly just a hunch, and I definitely don't watch all shootouts, it's just the way he gets when something is on the line.2. Yeah, it's the same as "Game-Winning Goal", like if he shot first, scored, then Fleury stopped the rest, even if the 2nd Penguins shooter scored, I'm 99% sure Sid would get the GDG. I guess it's a function of where you shoot, I dunno. Sid is usually 3rd, but I mean, they put him there for a reason, because of his clutchitude.
I can't recall anytime sid didn't shoot 2nd. Usually it's Letang, Crosby, (Guerin or Malkin). Letang is pretty beastly as well so more times than none I think they shootout was over before it even got to the 3rd guy. So Crosby shoots 2nd and so far this year that's all the Pens have needed.Edit - In fact I did a little research and here's a pretty sweet report that confirms pretty much what I wrote. As far as shootout goes in the Olympics I don't really have a problem with how they're doing it. Some teams are deeper than others but if Canada can't beat the Swiss in regulation or OT they don't necessarily deserve to use their depth at that point IMO.

So a hockey coach isn't allowed to play his best players more? the buzzer goes every three minutes and Phil Kessel is replaced by Colton Orr? I think the shootout with repeat shooters actually represents the way coaches use their players. Crosby is getting 3X as much icetime as a third or fourth liner on the Pens. Why shouldn't he be able to shoot more in a shootout?

Well, 3X is different than ∞X. (Note: that might not be mathematically correct.)It seems to me like allowing repeat shooters would be more like rolling the first line out every single shift. Unless it's something like repeat shooters are only allowed after six attempts or something. (Another note: I don't actually know what the shootout rules are.)

I cant stand Peter Loubourdias of Sportsnet. Its sooo hard for me to listen to him. And another pet peeve. How can an announcer say the player "had the goalie flat beat!!", when the puck hits the post? If he beat the goalie, that would mean he scored. When it goes 4 feet wide, is that also getting it past the goalie?

Wouldn't count because you know he's cheering for the USA.Sorry. Nice try, though.
How do I know he's not trying to pull some kind of 5th level "reverse the curse" move by rooting for the US?

Serge who are you cheering for? Also any bets for USA-Canada?
This might be one game where the lines are going to be a bit funny for a few sites, so it might be a good game to bet if you can find a good line.

Where do you think the majority of the world's hockey betting comes from? Canada? Would it make sense for the odds-makers to juice the Canadian side because a majority of the bettors are going to be placing money on their home country, even if the odds suck? Seems like a spot for an unbiased gambler to put money against Canada, if my assumptions are accurate.

placed a bet on the under 5.5 on the Latvia/Czech game, got good odds at 2.35, the over was something silly like 1.6. Hopefully it works out. Probably have no chance, but my new thing is to take bets with good odds and not be stupid like biatch.

Dale a few pages back you offered Swiss to NOT win a medal at 50-1...I wanted to book it, but you got scared...I still obviously like to book it, and will lower the odds to 30 to 1....Interested..??
The Swiss will not medal in Men's hockey.
