New Challenge: Movin' On Up

Recommended Posts

Thanks Fighter! On this hand, I was up against the fish at the table. I think turn and river are standard, although betting the turn can also be good. My big concern was the flop, and if I had enough implied odds to call his raise getting almost 3:1. Like I said, he wasn't that good, so I don't see him ever bluff raising this flop, so I'm pretty much calling to hit a 10 only. Also, obv brag since it's (I think) my biggest online pot in terms of BBs.feral_cow_icon.gifThis converter is going to be a cash cow...PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em $0.10/$0.25 - 6 playersCO: $58.48 (Hero)Button: $57.93 SB: $29.52 BB: $25.00 UTG: $25.00 UTG+1: $25.42 Preflop: ($0.35) Hero is CO with :D:5c (6 players)2 folds, Hero raises to $0.75, Button calls $0.75, 2 foldsFlop: ($1.85) :ts:4h:D (2 players)Hero bets $1, Button raises to $3, Hero calls $2Turn: ($7.85) :club: (2 players)Hero checks, Button bets $7, Hero raises to $18.75, Button calls $11.75River: ($45.35) :qh (2 players)Hero bets $35.98 and is all-in, Button calls $35.43 and is all-inHero showed :D:3h, and won ($114.21) with a straight, Ten to AceButton showed :jh:D, and lost with two pair, Aces and QueensHero won $114.21(Rake: $2)

I remember when this thread was all about how bad KJ was at 3betting

He's probably not flatting KJ's raise otf if he had a2. Besides, A2 is such a small portion of his range here, we are never ever ever ever ever ever ever folding the turn. People are stupid, they do

So I ran into a certain villian who I am not used to playing against. If at all possible think fighter on crack... Guy was running 88/80 with 3bet of 73% over 73 hands. Now the guy was a decent player, in the sense if he was OOP he folded to 3bet/4bets unless he had a real hand then he shoved. Sadly he was BB when I had the btn which made things really hard. I would open KQs, ATs or whatever and he 3bet me 100%. I 4bet jammed him once and he folded. So my question is, if you know the guy will open 3x if you limp into him. Is it worth limping the btn into him with playable hands like the following knowing he is going to raise it? Or should I just be 4bet jamming him super wide and just ride the variance train?Full Tilt Poker $0.05/$0.10 No Limit Hold'em - 6 players - View hand 1128022DeucesCracked Poker Videos Hand History ConverterSB: $9.32BB: $14.70UTG: $10.39MP: $10.00CO: $2.79Hero (BTN): $10.36Pre Flop: ($0.15) Hero is BTN with J :4h T :spade:UTG calls $0.10, 2 folds, Hero calls $0.10, 1 fold, BB raises to $0.60, 1 fold, Hero calls $0.50Flop: ($1.35) 9 :D Q :qh 8 :jh(2 players)BB bets $0.80, Hero raises to $3.75, BB raises to $14.10 all in, Hero calls $6.01 all inTurn: ($20.87) A :D(2 players - 2 are all in)River: ($20.87) 6 :club:(2 players - 2 are all in)Final Pot: $20.87BB shows K :ts K :D (a pair of Kings)Hero shows J :5c T :3h (a straight, Queen high)Hero wins $19.48(Rake: $1.39)

assumptions 1. he has AA,QQ,AQ,99 and isn't folding on ten 2. That we will only get to see the turn I took the effective stack size 54.18, timed it by our equity on the turn when we do hit vs their full house outs 84.091%, $45.56 . Then I times it by the odds of hiting the T, 5 well known cards, 2 unknown cards that are almost certainly not tens. 4/45. $4.047Since $4>$2 , your play is profitable. B/E point for this is $30.75 pre flop.

I see nothing wrong with that, you have your biggest edge when the stack to pot ratio is larger. That is why great players like ivey and durr buy in really deep on those TV shows.

Villain is a reg.Meh, I think he can easily have KQ, A10-AQ, JJ, 1010If I'm c/f the river, should the turn be a b/f? I don't think there's much value in betting the river. That is an interesting line by villain, I'm not sure if I find a fold there Fighter
I have no idea. I doubt he would take this line as a bluff. Then again no real hand makes sense. Thing that did it for me was the bet size on the river. A flush got there and he just seems to be going for max value.
